Universe Bridal and Prom

I’ve had many people tell me about this place and how good it is. I beg to differ. We drove over an hour to get there and when we walk in, no one greets us or asks to help. So we look at dresses ourselves. About 30 mins later As we’re trying them on, a worker rudely walked up to us and asked if we planned on purchasing, what school we were from and that if we werent purchasing that we needed to leave. We were planning on purchasing 4 but by the time she had walked away we were all disgusted how she treated us and left.

Very nice selection of bridal gowns at great prices. Beautiful room to try on with a very «high end» feeling. The girl who helped us was wonderful at pulling dresses and listening to what I liked, however they cut the labels out of all of their dresses and code them so they know what designer and style number they are but you don’t. We asked and they told us it’s so someone doesn’t try to duplicate their dresses but we think it’s so you don’t try a dress on there get the style number and purchase somewhere else. They should not be concerned about that because their prices are great. I found a dress I liked and asked the consultant the designer but she was hesitant to tell me. Also if you go to their website and view the designers they have and then go to the designer’s website and search authorized retailers Universe Bridal doesn’t come up for any of them. So I am not sure how they can tell you they can order you a dress. Also their bridesmaids dresses are way overpriced! I have shopped a lot of places and their bridesmaids gowns seemed really expensive to me! I had definitely seen them cheaper other places. It was very strange, needless to say I didn’t purchase my dress here.

We went here for our bridesmaids dresses for my sisters wedding. After getting fitted and filling out paperwork for them to order our dresses they said they would rush order them. A few weeks later they called the bride (my sister) and let her know they came in. She went to pick them up… to find out they never ordered them. They never apologized or offered help. How pathetic! I will never go here again… and I recommend staying away from here unless you want to be a miserable bride.

This store is more than I bargained for… When we pulled up I wasn’t sure it was worth the drive… Boy was I wrong! This place has hundreds of dresses (we were shopping for homecoming). The staff here was so incredibly helpful– they had plenty of workers to help all the girls zip, tuck, button and pin– the employees do all the work while I sat and waited for the fashion show! They were also very helpful at suggesting dress styles and encouraging my daughter to try a few different styles!

I never thought I’d be in a giant maze of chiffon and sequins and be spat into cheeses and preserves in an old time country café on my search for the bathroom.
The VERY first thing I saw when we walked in was a mannequin decked out in a CAMOUFLAGE halter dress with a NEON ORANGE fuzzy faux fur stole, matching orange sash, and a DEER ANTLER coming out of the top of the neck of the mannequin. Toto, we aren’t in the city anymore.
I will say the selection is HUGE, but a HUGE part of the selection is a tacky, no-​class, sparkly, strumpet, neon mess. Harsh? Maybe. I guess you’ll get dresses like this in any dress shop, but lord. We had to pin ourselves against the walls as a prom dress tryer-​onner and her house-​sized skirt squeezed past us in a wide aisle, that generally should fit at least three people shoulder-​to-​shoulder.
The dressing rooms were thrown in the back of the overwhelming racks of dresses, at least in the room we were in, so there was no room to stand back and present the dresses and there were no mirrors in the dressing rooms either. We had to shuffle in front of another party who took over the one giant mirror in the tight space, and see what we looked like about a foot away from the mirror.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly though I thought it was interesting they just yelled out our measurements and suggested sizes for not only your whole party to hear but anyone else near you. Not cool if you don’t want your bust in inches broadcast to the world.
Other pros: we got 25% off because the bride got her dress there, even when one of the girls didn’t pay anything at all that day which was part of it. The rest of us paid half and we just have to pay the rest once the dresses come in in July so there is plenty of time which is nice. The dress we ended up with is very pretty, everyone readily agreed on it, and it wasn’t too expensive once the discount was added.
They only have each dress in one size, so we had to all be clipped into too big of a dress and all had to try it on one at a time, so we never saw what we looked like as a bridal party.
The advertise no appointments necessary but then when we got there, we had to wait for dressing rooms that weren’t being used because a party that arrived after us made one. That’s fine, but don’t tell people no appointment necessary — it’s misleading, we would have just scheduled one.
This place was strange, it got the job done, and it’s hella far from Columbus (2 hours). It’s not my wedding, but when the time comes, I’ll stay in the city and away from the ready-​for-​a-​hunting-​trip prom dresses.

This unique store is almost 2 hours from Columbus but an easy drive. We were prom dress shopping and dissatisfied with everything in Cols, mostly because of high prices. Universe has a huge inventory, mostly sample dresses, so if you’re looking for a specific dress, start way before prom. Price points vary from under $ 100 to designer gowns for $ 800 – 900 but since they’re «as is» gowns, they’re heavily discounted, from 25−40%.
The sales staff is very professional and helpful, although very casual (hoodies & sweats). The dressing rooms are large enough for several people and they have a large stage with full length mirrors and chairs for spectators. This was very different from the cramped conditions at Henri’s in Columbus. It’s not the most luxurious salon but everything else made up for it and my daughter found a beautiful gown for a great price. Would definitely recommend!

I’m in my best friend’s wedding this summer and Universe is where the bridesmaids dresses are from. Since I’m the only out of towner in the party, I haven’t physically been to the location, but have experienced wonderful customer service here. When the dress was picked out, I called them up being the last one to pay and confirm my order. I had no problems with them and sizing of the dress whatsoever. The dress is also affordable too at $ 99 as part of their special for brides who purchase their dress here and can get reasonable dresses for the bridesmaid. When my dress was due to arrive in the Windy City, the shipper didn’t like my office address and the dress was sent back to the store. I received a call from the store and they were extremely cool about shipping it back out to a different address. The dress arrived in a day or two in great condition. They were a breeze to work with. I give them kudos to great customer service and speedy service.
