We were a little concerned when we saw on Unilocal that the Redwood location was«closed», as we had a coupon that was only good at that location. Upon our arrival however, our worries were unfounded. This location had merely changed names and still honors ALL Taste of India coupons! We had a party of six. We were seated and waited on immediately. The service was amazing! Everyone was so pleasant and they treated us like old friends. We had the assorted fritter platter for our appetizer, so tasty! Our meals were brought in a timely manner and the meals were HUGE! It’s served family style so everyone had the opportunity to taste each other’s dish. My husband and daughter each had Coconut Korma, one had chicken and the other lamb. They both raved about how great it tasted. My son-in-law had Chicken Tikka Masala, my son had Chicken Biryani, and I had Chicken Tikka. Our granddaughter shared with us. We all left very full. Don’t forget to try the Garlic Naan, it’s fantastic! Oh and be sure to top it all off with Gulab Jamun, this is a golden brown cheese pastry that is to die for! The perfect compliment to a fabulous meal. Guaranteed to be a meal you won’t soon forget.

The food is excellent, service is prompt, and the place is clean. A little pricy but overall it was a really nice meal. Try the Chicken Tika Masala and the Tandoori Chicken!

Oh crap! We over napped! Too late and lazy to cook. And Taste of India was our solution! Butter Chicken, our favorite American Indian food! I actually do enjoy their butter chicken because it is more creamy. Chicken were just tender enough for me. Aloo Gobi was pretty good but butter chicken was more appealing to me. The mango lassi was way too sweet than I expect. Since we were the only people in the restaurant, the service was really nice and fast. So I cannot complain. We will be back for sure!

I found a pretty good deal on . I had heard good things about another location, so I decided to try this one. Not impressive at all. The Tandori fusion(combo) was the worst Tandori meat I have ever eaten. The other dishes were average at best, and that’s me being nice. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I went to this place with a bunch of in-laws. The bulding looked pretty nice, and they had a very large table set up for us when I got there We all shared dishes, so I got to try a variety of food from this place. My favorite was the Butter Chicken Curry, which was really smooth and buttery despite the dark-red coloring. We got all of our curries mild, but I was still surprised at how red it was! The Chicken Coconut Korma was also top-notch. Probably the best part about these dishes was how tender the chicken was, it almost literally melted in your mouth. It was amazing. The lassis were good, nothing spectacular as far as the typical Indian restaurant yogurt drink goes. They had it in Strawberry and Mango flavors, which is a plus. They had a surprising amount of flavors of Naan, including plain, garlic, lamb, and cheese. They were all good, the garlic being my favorite. The cheese Naan was too mild to really make a difference, and the lamb naan was alright(not worth an extra couple bucks over garlic naan, though). The one thing keeping me from giving it a perfect rating was the service. It just seemed slower than it should have been. It was good all-around, but not outstanding. I can’t really comment on the price, since I didn’t pay the bill and don’t remember off the top of my head how much everything was. However, the portions are decent-sized, enough to where you could get two entrees for three people and be well-off. If I’m in the area again, I’d probably go back. It’s a good restaurant for sure, and my wife liked it a lot.

Sadly, Taste of India has lost my business. While my previous 4 star review still stands based on prior experiences, one thing I will NOT stand for is the practice of tip skimming on credit card payments which is exactly what happened with my last takeout order from here. While I realize this was just the action of one bad employee, they unfortunately picked a loyal, long term customer who has provided a lot of business(and good tips) over the time I have been a patron. Unfortunately, I am not someone who takes this kind of thing lightly. There’s plenty of other options for Indian food around the valley. Hopefully the employee has been caught by now and fired so they aren’t doing this to other also. Shame.

This is my favorite Utah Indian place, and I have tried them all. The lunch special is so huge and a great value! I get take out for lunch often – it includes an appetizer, small salad, raita(?yogut) two entrees, naan, rice and dessert! It’s much more than I can eat. They also know me and remember my order which is great.

Very impressed. Reasonable prices. Superb service and food on par with or better than any Indian restaurant in the south end of the valley. We’ll be back — again and again and again.

The lunch special was very tasty. The butter chicken and vegetable korma were excellent — a little different taste than some others I’ve had, and in a good way. Even though it’s not a buffet, we all walked out feeling stuffed. Really good nan. I’ll look forward to trying their other dishes — only downside is Saffron Valley is just down the road, their buffet is amazing.

I love this place! It’s awesome that there is an Indian restaurant, somewhat near my end of town. The service is friendly and it’s a great atmosphere. My favorite is definitely the Butter Chicken! It is hard to stop eating! I also quite like their coconut korma, but it’s not the best I’ve had. They have one called Bunna that I also like. Their naan is great, which can make a difference. Their portions are average for the price when compared to other Indian food restaurants. I come here often!

Definitely surprised that this place won City Weekly’s people’s choice award for best Indian food in Utah. To me, it was just okay. The Chicken Tikka Masala was pretty average as it didn’t have a lot of chicken and was a tad runny for my liking. The fluorescent orange color(Frank’s Hot Sauce anyone?) was also a turn off. The highlight was the chicken in the Chicken Korma — which was plentiful and very tender. Also, the naan was way too thick and doughy for my tastes. Nothing was horribly bad, but nothing stood out as great either, especially compared to places like India Palace and Bombay House.

Excellent. I would do 5 stars but they overcharge for soft drinks($ 2.50 or more as I recall) and are just a bit more expensive than I think they should be — but most Indian places seem to follow this high price trend, perhaps they use expensive spices, I don’t know. The quality of the food is amazing. I’ve been to West Jordan and Layton locations and both were great. Saag Chicken or Paneer and Chicken Tika Masala are my favorites. Butter chicken is also very good. Naan bread is amazing too. Very friendly service.

Great food. We loved the korma shrimp, tikka chicken, basmati rice, and the chicken masala. The naan was a bit pricey compared to other Indian restaurants and they only gave you one naan per order. The server recommended an eggplant dish which we did not care for, it was too sweet. Service was not so great, we saw the server once when he took our order and some other person just brought out our food and drinks. The owner, however, was super friendly and came to check on us numerous times. Overall good food, we would definitely be back.

Two words. Butter. Chicken. Brilliant dish! It was worth stopping at this place just for the butter chicken. We also enjoyed a few other dishes. I’ve mentioned before I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to spice and hot. We ordered everything mild; however I have forgotten that lamb really holds its heat. We had the chicken curry, lamb coconut korma, butter chicken, three naans, and an appetizer plate to start. The appetizer fritters are we really great. Especially the one with onions in it. But enough about the dishes that were just okay. The butter chicken. It rules this restaurant. The chicken is tender; the tomato sauce is very flavorful. I enjoyed the dish over rice, with the naan, and just straight from the bowl. I am fairly certain it was also in my dreams last night. The atmosphere is nice. Being in the middle of a home remodel myself I noticed that the floor was really fun and I may just copy the concept when I remodel my bathroom. It’s a nice place for a group, we could hear the conversation at our table over the conversations of others. The music is not too loud either there, nice ambience. The staff is friendly. Our drinks were never empty. They share the lot with other restaurants. However, we found a parking spot right up front and there was plenty of room for everyone. I would for sure go again … At 8:30AM that butter chicken’s on my mind!

Wow – I am really going against the grain with this review – seems like others have had a mediocre experience here. I on the other hand had an awesome experience here and I am already plotting my next visit. First, I feel like I need to leave a bit of a disclaimer – I am by no means an Indian Food expert. But I have been to 4 different Indian restaurants in the last couple of months, and actually really enjoyed my experience at each, but this one was the best. And I feel like I got the best value here. OK, that part is because of , but still, I paid $ 40 at another place and only paid $ 20 here for the exact same amount of food. And the food… THEFOOD!!! Holy food coma. I am such a sucker for lamb saag, it’s not even funny. And they got my heat level perfect. We got the naan sampler basket with 4 different kinds of naan – I really liked that they had this sort of offering, since I always want to sample several varieties, but usually only end up picking one. The naan was warm and chewy and soooooooooo delicious. Got some Chicken Tandoor for the kids, and they pounded it. All in all, this place far exceeded my expectations. I think it was a perfect storm for a 5-star review from me. I had low expectations from reading previous reviews, I had previously paid double for the same food, I had just worked out thus working up a humongous appetite, and really, the lamb saag was just out of this world amazing. Aaaaaand it probably didn’t hurt that the waitress kept telling me my kids are adorable ;)

First things first. I have had better Indian food. As such, it’s just a so-so place. PROS Very nice and authentic staff. There were three types of naan we wanted to try and the waiter threw one in free for us. The spiciness was perfect. The Chicken Masala was pretty good. CONS Strangely enough, the food was bland, which in my opinion, is a major offense when it comes to Indian food. The curry did not taste anything like curry. The soda was watery. Kind of obscure location. All in all, I am very glad I tried it. I will probably go back someday, but not before trying some of the other Indian places around town. It wasn’t good enough to earn my loyalty, but I really would recommend trying this place at least once.

Unlike many other Indian restaurants, they have a lunch special in place of the usual buffet. Most of the items in this special are set in stone. The only exception being you have six choices to select your two entrées. But then again, the six entrées are also fixed. Anyway, The appetizer(pakora), rice and chicken curry were okay. The dal(lentils) was not just dilute, it was kind of sweet. Eek. The raita tasted wierd. The naan was not baked well. I kept tasting the flour. The dessert(kheer) was forgettable. I know I won’t be returning in a hurry.

I hate giving poor ratings but I was so disappointed after having lunch. While the service was friendly and great, the food was sub-par. Had chicken curry and saag paneer. The food lacked flavor and I was mistaken to assume that the chicken would be breast meat. Unfortunately, with so many other great Indian places, I will not be back to Taste of India.
