Well after we first discovered this hidden gem a little over a month ago it’s been a regular stop. I can’t complain and the service of expertise had been on point. The staff had always been laid back and Hilary was the first we meet out of the bunch and haven’t seen her since which is kind of sad but we will catch her on her day here I promise. The selection of wines is more than we can handle and the cheese plates have always been something to make our taste buds dance and sing with joy. Thank you again for a wonderful night with a new bottle to add to our library card for future reference.

The first time my boyfriend and I came here the service was amazing. Out waitress was personable and took the time to help us select a wine we would love. She talked to us about CA as we had just moved to CA about a month prior. The wine was delicious as was the cheese and sushi. The second time we came we had booked a reservation for a special party for oysters and unlimited wine — we were brushed off and told the oyster guy did not show — they then gave our reserved table away. At the point they forgot our cheese plate I said something after 40 minutes. I will give them credit for taking off one bottle of wine off our check. I chalked it up to a busy night and moved on … My last visit was the kicker. The waiter told us it was happy hour 8 dollars a glass. I stated between both of us and my love for wine it might be cheaper to do a basic bottle. He then stopped me and did the«math» for me of a bottle vs happy hour in an extremely elitist tone. He was rude, abrupt, and didn’t seem to want to be bothered by a table of two. He has now brought my rating from a five star to a 2 star. He pawned us off on another waiter who was very nice, friendly and helpful. I love eating and drinking here but my last two visits have really soured my taste as far as their customer service. Perhaps it was just our table as I now see him standing speaking to other tables, laughing and joking, giving free samples happily. What disappointments me the most is the fact that I usually order 2 – 4 bottles a sitting with food and now with the lack of personal touch I feel like I might as well go to trader joes and find my own wine to drink at home. It’s now been 30 minutes and he has spoken to every table but ours and another. Not a way to run a business.

Wine bars come in many sizes and colors. This makes it hard to define what makes a good wine bar. Some wine bars are part of a restaurant. If the kitchen makes good food, then I like the place, but the rating is for the food, not the wine bar. V is not a restaurant as food is brought in from neighboring restaurants like the Japanese restaurant around the corner. Some wine bars are part of a wine store. If I like their inventory, then I like the place, but the rating is for the inventory, not the wine bar. V is not a wine store as they only sell wines from a handful of wineries. If you don’t like any of their dozen or so producers, then you’re out of luck here — particularly for New Year celebrations with only one producer of sparkling wine for sale. Even though their website states that they sell«handcrafted beer,…, gift merchandise, and local artists’ work», we didn’t see these. Some wine bars are tasting rooms for a winery. If I like their wine, then I like the place, but the rating is based on the quality of their wine. V is not a winery, but is somewhat like a tasting room — not for one winery, but a collection of mostly subpar wineries. Of the ten wines we tried, two were average and the remaining eight were, well the nicest way to put it is the opposite of good. The white flight of five wines was better than the weak red flight. The wine steward made four substitutions to the flights listed on the menu. So what does V Wine Room have to offer? It’s a nice place to relax, but likely with a bad glass of wine and ordinary snacks. PS-This business is part of the airline miles dining program. For the first time at any restaurant, my miles didn’t automatically post and I went through the additional hassle of submitting my receipt to get mileage credit. It wouldn’t have been that big a deal to miss-out on the equivalent of couple bucks, but I was counting on this purchase to prevent 18,000+ miles from expiring which would have lost me hundreds of bucks.

I really like the atmosphere in this place! It’s not too noisy or too crowded, and I came on a Saturday night. There’s a huge wine selection and also some little snack options

I love this place. I met some friends there last night and the staff was amazing in their service and knowledge. It was perfect. My only regret was not following through on my impulse to buy wine#3 on the red wine flight I tried. I was thinking about it today and now need to make an extra trip back after all, it was that good. An extra special thanks to Adam, our super sommelier!

Decent selection of wines. Lots from CA which is really nice. Good little vibe with the music. Low score for a snarky employee with a bad attitude. The really nice employee was not very knowledgable about the wine, but he was a nice guy. It is Weho and since I’m not a hot gay guy that might have played into it, but my friends and I were all spending a bit of coin so it really shouldn’t matter. I would go again since my friend lives really close by, but I would def buy a bottle so I didn’t have to deal with the inadequate service.

Beautiful, chill space to have a nice glass of wine(or 5). I was impressed by the wine selection, the knowledgeable and patient staff, and the inviting yet intimate atmosphere. It’s a nice little oasis just tucked away from the Santa Monica Blvd craziness. Classy place but without all the pretension. Excellent place to have a catchup with friends or a date. They have pretty good cheese plates and snacks as well, but have also partnered with Jinpachi so you can actually order sushi and some apps to eat at V Wine Room while you have your wine — possibly the best combination. They have a pretty legit happy hour as well.

For sure a favorite: amazing staff, great atmosphere(a tree, used to be a library), a nice selection of wines. Trying to get my book club to meet here. A must try! Love the Monday glass nights.

My favorite little wine room! I adore V-wine bar, and have spent many lovely evenings here. V-wine bar specializes in library collection wines and unique varietals from all over the world. They have a happy hour until 6PM on the week nights and also have cheese plates for purchase. Would highly suggest as a date night spot. Many fantastic memories here!

This is a really nice hole in the wall place. It’s on a quiet street off Santa Monica Blvd and it looked like parking might be doable if you catch something on the street, though we Ubered here. There was a nice variety of wines to choose from, a little pricey, but they were of good quality. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, making good recommendations for us. Nice ambiance.

Good wine selection with an attentive knowledgeable staff. Tucked away from SM Blvd so it was pretty empty. That was fine with us as we wanted to catch up and chat. Good nibbles too! Will definitely be back!

This is going to be one of those wordcount-limit-hitting reviews because V Wine Bar was just THAT great… perfect for my 500th review! Worked with Mikey and Adam to host a wine tasting event for work(group of 30ish people) and it was a really wonderful experience. They were responsive via email, more flexible to meet our budget and requests than others I had reached out to, and the event could not have gone more smoothly. THESPACE: The old(in a good way) building used to be a library, so there’s a lot of bookish décor(which I loved) — and there’s a lot of space while still feeling intimate. With the mix of bar seating, high tables, low tables, and couches — it can easily accommodate a larger group than ours. PARKING: There’s street parking nearby(metered) and a paid lot right next door, though, of course, when drinking, one probably shouldn’t plan on driving immediately afterward… so Über! PHILOSOPHY: They focus on «craft wines» which is exactly what it sounds like — less large breweries and more small-batch winemakers, including many that are local, and some in the Bay Area(I believe they focus on California). PART1 — PREVIEW: I came a week before our event with a couple coworkers and we did a preview for the tasting where essentially we did a more indepth tasting to select the five wines we were going to share with the larger group. Adam was SO, so helpful, patiently answered all of my questions about wine, tasting, the wineries, the business/wine room itself…(I had never been wine tasting before) and it was a lot of fun. Totally agree that this preview was more fun and interesting than the actual event, so if you plan the event, make sure you take advantage of this part of it! PART2 — TASTING: The actual event went just as well. Mikey led the event and did all the presentations of the different wines, gave explanations, answered questions, and was a true professional. The group mingled before/after/during each round, the layout of the space was conducive to everyone getting to talk to different people throughout the event, and both those who know more about wine and those who don’t left happy and complimentary of the venue, the staff, and the wines. What more could you ask for? WINE&FOOD: I’m honestly not a big wine person, but I did end up really liking one of the sweeter whites(a Muscat Canelli) we tried and ended up drinking/buying a bottle to bring home… but, a few others who were more wine veterans also bought additional glasses and/or bottles, including the reds we had selected — I think one was called Zeductive(a red blend) — which is a good sign! We also paid for a handful of snacks/small foods like crackers and cheese, fruit, olives, nuts, etc, which they continued to refill even as people ate over the hours. They host all kinds of other events and workshops, in addition to taking walk-ins, plus a happy hour on Mondays/Thursdays(? sorry if I get the dates wrong!) where they do discounted glasses of the bottles they had opened up over the day or two before — such a smart business move and keeps the variety new for regulars. So all that being said, I *highly* recommend V Wine Room for both wine newbs and those more familiar with the craft, and would also recommend it to anyone looking for a fun group event(showers? parties? birthdays?). Thank you so much Adam and Mikey!

I’m am just… so in love with this place! I was visiting a friend who works in the area, he was super busy so me and my other friend ended up looking for places to have some wine. There’s no big extravagant sign to tell you where this wine bar is but once I found it, my friend and I fell in love! Much like the outside, it’s not a huge, luxurious, extravagant place. It’s actually quite homey and intimate which makes wine tasting more enjoyable. The lighting is a bit dim, but if you’ve been stopping around Santa Monica Blvd of West Hollywood it’s nothing new to you, the dim lights help with the setting of the place. We went last night(Tuesday) where they had they tabletop happy hour(if a bottle is already open, it’s 8 a glass) The staff is very knowledgeable about their wine. I’m still new to the circle so they had fun trying to figure out where my tastes lie. Their cheese platter was also enjoyable! We will be coming back again, hopefully with more friends to lounge on the couches with!

So happy that I discovered this wine gem in West Hollywood. Me and two friends were looking for a good wine lounge, one that we have yet to find in LA. I was looking at places near me(weho) and found this place, which was the closest to me and also came up as #1 on Unilocal. So naturally I was intrigued. I rounded up my two wine loving friends and off we went. We were greeted by Hillary, who later became my favorite person,(literally, not just in the wine room :)) We did their red flight, learned about their wines and had an amazing time. Hillary(who I call Suki — Tru blood reference) told us about their Wednesday wine night classes — Hillary teaches a cheese and wine pairing every second Wednesday of the month. We signed ourselves up, went and had a blast. Learned more than we ever have about cheese, met the owner who is very nice and fun and just had an all around amazing night. We discovered that we are interested in every Wednesday wine night they offer and will become a regular Wednesday night class attendee. Wine classes are: meet the wine maker, cheese pairing, chocolate pairing and blindfold tasting. This is a perfect place to bring friends, your family from out of town, co-workers. Or even just yourself(because you can spark up good conversations with everyone.)

ENVIRONMENT Very comfortable interior with couch and bar seating. The staff are incredibly caring, attentive and knowledgable. WINE The in-house sommelier and staff are awesome and very hands on to make sure you have a great experience. CHEESE Do the cheese! It always varies and the information on everything adds to the experience. Hillary, the cheese expert, is the best!

Kinda weird to think this place has been open for 2 years because it doesn’t have many Unilocal reviews. But anyway, I went here Sunday at about 6:00pm and I was totally loving the décor of this place and the employees. I didn’t really care for the fact that they don’t have a happy hour. Not because I’m «cheap» but just because it was soooooo empty which deducted from the experience. You’d think they would want more people in the door at 6:00pm to liven it up, so maybe they would give some kind of happy hour but nope. I’m sure on other nights of the week, and when the sun actually goes down, it’s super popping and lively, so hopefully that’s taken care of other days of the week. Aside from the empty environment, I think the selection of wines are«cool» and quirky but cool doesn’t always mean that it’s good. I had the white wine flight and surprisingly I didn’t like any of the 5 wines that were on the flight, and neither did my fiancé with his spring flight. With their wines being such small productions, I couldn’t really find them online to read reviews on others opinions of the wine so it was hard to validate if my opinion about the wines were either accurate or just way off. It’s always good to see if I’m just having an off wine night, or if it’s not me. It’s the wine!

Great place to come for a relaxing night out when you’re feeling more loungey and conversational than going too big. I came here on a Friday night with a friend for a girl’s night. The place has a large wine selection and also a couple food items on the menu. The night we came there was a a huge birthday party taking up half the space, but everyone working was still super attentive and wonderful and helpful. We got in and let them know that it was our first time there, they helped us find a table that we hadn’t been able to spot on our own and gave us menus, made some recommendations, and came back with water for us. We ended up splitting a bottle of wine between the two of us, and also got the cheese plate, which was SUPERGREAT. The cheese plate came with three cheeses and an assortment of crackers. There was a really great brie, a good manchego, and a good blue cheese they drizzled raw honey over. We demolished the cheese plate and the bottle of wine. Service was great. The space was really crowded so it was difficult to get to the restroom, but one of the bartenders saw me struggling and grabbed me and had me follow him as he made a gap through the crowd so I could get to the restroom. We had a great time and would definitely be back.

This was an interesting little hidden goody! You would have blinked and missed it essentially! The door outside is not very ostentatious and you certainly wouldn’t know that once inside it would behold such a cozy, hanging out at home feel! If you are into the lounge, sofa’y, library’y(?) feel then you will feel right as rain here! They have wine by the glass, bottle or flight, should you wish to don your pilot’s cap! Great and simple appetizers to encourage your palate to enjoy the tones and flavors! I even learned about a new label and new type of wine! The staff is very knowledgeable of the inventory and when I described the flavors I was looking for, the server came back with a delightful little number. Bring a first date, bring a small group, hang out with a buddy and play one of the board games and talk about girls, or scratching your balls-whatever it is boys talk about! It’s quirky, cozy, fun and delightful all snowballed into one!

Ha! I can’t believe I didn’t know about this place until recently even though I live only a few blocks away. It’s not directly on Santa Monica Blvd, but pretty close to the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd and Westbourne. It’s a discrete door on Westbourne. In any case, I came on a Sunday night. It was relatively empty. There were a few couples doing the wine flights and playing board games. This is my kind of place. Although I can certainly put on my dancing shoes on Sunday nights, I usually prefer a more low-key type of activity. This was such an opportunity. First of all, great attentive service. Plenty of low couches, high tables, bar seats. Whatever you prefer. Menu of drinks is quite extensive, but flip to the back and you will see the flights menu. They have Red, White, and Seasonal flights. 6 wines to taste for $ 15. Yes please! In addition, they have cheese plates, which we got. Delicious. We tried the seasonal flight of international reds. Perfect amount to get buzzed. On the side of the bar, there are some stacked board games which you can pick up and express your inner nerdiness. Scrabble, «I have never…», Cards Against Humanity are just a few of the classic selections. It’s not loud. Great date night with your significant other.
