So, I was here for New Years Eve and this place was pretty packed though not as much as previous years. The line to go in was insane. I’m glad we got there at 10:30 or so because it took a good 20 – 30 minutes to get inside even with pre-sale tickets. Coat check looked like a nightmare. It had a huge line so we just decided to hold our jackets and make a bee line to the bar way towards the back. Lucky for us, the bartender was serving some pretty strong drinks, which is nice to get your money’s worth. The dance floor was packed which is a given. The music was pumping which is also a given. There were plenty of dancers to entertain everyone. Although this is out of their control, the lines to the bathroom was terrible. I couldn’t imagine spending a good portion of your night waiting to get in, waiting to check-in your coat, waiting for your drinks, and then waiting to use the restroom. Oh well… first world problems I suppose. I only hold them half responsible for this. We ended up migrating to a smaller room where the music was still good though we got thirsty. So, a round of drinks were purchased, but everything tasted like juice. You couldn’t taste the alcohol. It times like this when you end up hating the fact that you just wasted money on something that wasn’t that good. Overall, this place is usually good and the drinks strong, but they’re not consistent throughout the various bar areas. The lines were just too much. I felt like they were not properly prepared given the long wait outside as well as the snaking coat check line, but I guess you can’t expect much on New Years Eve.

A kick back spot to just groove through the night to your favorite pop songs. Great place to hang with friends and music is great. Drinks on the otherhand is kinda blah. Super strong, but that’s about it. There are both male and female dancers on stage. They dance it like they mean it. The ladies wear all black and they dance in a «silouette» style. For the male, reflective gold shorts, shirtless… well, you know the rest! Celebrated here for a friend’s birthday. Think everyone had a great time here. Good lounge areas, too.

Lots of fun if you like loud, pop music. Fun venue to people watch at; also a fun place to just let go and dance with friends.

Read a spot-on review of Popstars and wanted to reiterate the music playlist: Britney Madonna Lady Gaga Britney Rhianna Beyonce Britney Lady Gaga Beyonce with Lady Gaga Lady Gaga with Beyonce Britney PInk and then add Bell Biv Devoe to be fair, the is the same playlist spinning at every gay bar on Santa Monica Blvd. this makes me sad. can’t we, as a community, come together and demand better music? why can’t popstars mean more than 5 frickn pop stars and an occasionally thrown bone? stand up! rise! RISE!

If you love hot shirtless gay men bouncing and singing along to the likes of Madonna, Beyonce, Britney, Christina, et. al. then you will fall in love at first sight with Popstars held every Friday at Ultrasuede in West Hollywood, CA. The boys there will dance all night, you will find drink specials of the bright green, red and blue sort and $ 1 jello shots for most of the night. They have recently moved the club and switched it with the Lesbian night to the larger venue at the Factory Club. Since then, the dancing experience has improved tenfold. There are two staircases conveniently leading you up to railing lined catwalks. Perfect for any aspiring Diva! Prices are also awesome overall. You can get in Free every night by signing up on the website’s guestlist and parking is usually about $ 5.
