I dont often write reviews because im seldom that impressed by brunch especially when its not the restaurants primary offering but, Treva gets it right. I’ve been here twice for brunch and both times have been exceptional. The first time I came a few weeks back, I ordered the two eggs (one poached, one sunny side) with polenta, bacon and house made bread was great. To me you can judge a chef’s skill set by how well the simple things are executed. Being a culinary school grad and former chef I feel that I can accurately gauge the meal and this was perfect. The eggs both different techniques arrived perfectly cooked and hot. The bacon was nice and crispy and the polenta was cooked the traditional italian style runny with lots of cheese. My girlfriend and I both got two Mimosas and the service was pretty good but a little slow. Today when we came to Treva it was also a great experience I got the steak (hanger steak, medium rare) and eggs (two sunnyside) with salsa verde polenta and fresh bread. Again everything was prefect. The steak was a perfect medium rare, the eggs warm and runny and the polenta nice and cheesy. Service was better this time and we made sure to tip accordingly. Great food both times I’m surprised this place isn’t booming on Sundays for brunch, nonetheless, we will be back again. Thanks Treva for two great experiences.

My fiancé and I went there for drinks and an appetizer. We sat at the bar. The bartenders were great, I wish I remembered their names. They put plenty of mint in the mojitos, they were awesome! So was the Treva — Margarita! Thanks!

Treva continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in West Hartford Center.
My latest adventures have taken me there for lunch on several occasions. Service is always good and the food is magnificent. Of course, the zucchini blossoms remain among my wish list for every meal.
I’ve really become enamored with the unique pastas that they serve. The latest, a pappardelle with a bit of veal, mushrooms, sauce and asparagus, was really tasty without being overpowered by garlic or things like that. Really let the flavors shine. It was a fun pasta to eat, truth be told. Nice strips. And I had the Bucatini all’Amatriciana too. Look it up.
Dining companions ate up the kale salad and the squid ink pasta. Both enjoyed it very much.
The outside dining spaces are terrific. Both front and back.
Overal, Treva remains as good as it gets in the Center. Bravo!

Been here twice and haven’t been let down. Much better than their sister restaurant down the street, Avert. Scallops were perfectly cooked. The local fig gelato is just perfection. Most importantly, my Italian picky parents for out of town were happy! Will be back.

Delicious and upscale. I ordered the grilled Brussels sprouts and they were super black and charred. The grilled shrimp was excellent on my salad though! Great attentive bar tender around 3 pm on a Tuesday! Went alone and found the place great for romance but not great for a loner like me! A little high end for me as well

First time here and I’m impressed. Very nice place with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food were very good. Arugula salad and caprese were great start. The Salmone saffron risotto pea pesto was a good dish; the salmon was perfect but didn’t like the risotto. Lamb chops were delicious. For dessert: we got the tiramisu and affogato, both were great dessert.

LOVED the atmosphere here and the service was top notch. We had a reservation on a Saturday night with a couple friends and the place was packed. Our server was very knowledgeable of the entire menu. I ordered one of their martinis (a spicy dirty martini). I asked for more olive juice on the side after one sip which they were gladly willing to provide.
We got some burrata and some charcuterie to start. Both were great. For my entrée I ordered one of the vegetarian butternut squash and mushroom pasta dishes. Our server absolutely raved about it once I ordered and claimed he never ordered vegetable dishes but loved that one. I was really looking forward to my meal, but was kind of disappointed as it was rather bland and didn’t have a lot going on.
At any rate, the rest of the experience more than made up for my poor dinner choice and everyone else’s food looked great.

YUM! A definite must try. Super tasty items we ate: burrata, bread, branzino, cheesy polenta and then the bundino for dessert. Excellent service, and great cocktails. Did I say the Bundino was great for dessert? It is! And it comes with fig ice cream. So good!

Great upscale Italian place that makes their own pasta. My dish was delicious. I dream about it often.

I had a bad experience last year (service related not food) but I have to say I gave this place a second chance which I promised I wouldn’t… I’m so glad I did, too notch I love the ambience. The PULPO is cooked to perfection which is very hard to do. There meat and cheese selection is to die for. Hands down I will have to admit there chef is a perfectionist with octopus and there meats n cheese exceeded what I was expecting.

Treva my favorite place. Good food. Good drinks. Cozy atmosphere. Staff friendly. Owners treat you like part of the family. Never a problem! Im in catering business 25 years myself, and its, hands down, Treva, and Avert are the best spots in we ha center for me and my friends.

Fantastic! My hubby and I decided to have our Valentine’s Day dinner here and it did not disappoint. First I must say they had some of the best bread EVER… pure perfection! Next their drinks are AWESOME… I had a blackberry mint drink and it was super tasty. My dinner, the homemade gnocchi, was superb! My hubby got the scallops and he also loved them. I tried one and it was cooked wonderfully. We finished off the meal with their chocolate tart, complete with Chantilly cream and chocolate and Carmel sauces. YUM! Service was delightful! I will be back for sure!

We had not been to Treva in over a year. There are too many restaurants to try. Last night we made it back to Treva and had a wonderful meal. Their homemade pastas are delicious, two people at out table ordered pasta meals. I had the fish special of the evening and loved it. The service was very good. My only complaint is how noisy the back of the restaurant is where we were sitting. When I made the reservation I had said I’m hearing impaired and need a quieter table. Putting someone hearing impaired in an area with large party tables is not helpful.
All in all, a wonderful meal at a restaurant that remains a favorite of ours.

My family visited Treva on Christmas Eve and had a great time and received excellent service. Our server was very funny and helpful with plate descriptions, and he was very quick on delivering refills despite a busy restaurant. I’ve been to West Hartford a million times and never stopped in here, but I’m not usually hanging out at nice Italian restaurants unless I’m on a date or with the family.
I had the octopus appetizer which isn’t huge, but it’s perfectly tender and had great flavor. I’m not a big octopus tentacle eater, but I devoured that thing, and everyone that tried it really loved it. Highly recommend! Along with the octopus, we had a few of the cheese from the mozzarella bar: the Burrata and Affumicata. The Burrata was hands down the favorite. You could spread that creamy mozzarella on anything, and it would instantly make it better.
I went with the ribeye for my main course, and it was good, but I wouldn’t put it in the top steaks I’ve ever had. It’s definitely done well and was cooked the way it should be, but I wasn’t dreaming about it the next day. The fingerlings that came with it were a bit bland as well. Honestly, I think I should have gone with one of the fish dishes, because my dad’s trout was delicious, and he really enjoyed it. They also have a ravioli of the day (week?), which my girlfriend got, and that was incredible. Stick with the Italian classics unless you’re really craving some meat!
This place was great, but it’s probably not a spot you’d find me at often (and not just because I no longer live in the state). To me, I might come here for a special occasion if I’m looking for some good Italian, but there’s definitely A LOT of competition in the Northeast when it comes to Italian. The pricing is actually decent for a nice place like this, so that could probably swing me back this way to try it again.

What a treat! 16 of us went to celebrate New Year’s Eve at this amazing Italian gem in the heart of West Hartford. I wasn’t expecting less than GREAT as I have been here a few times before with my family and even a couple clients for business. But nothing can top a 16 people table where everyone keeps thanking me for picking Treva as our celebration spot.
The food was as good as it gets; I had a lobster bisque for appetizer — to die for! The steak (medium done rib-​eye) was so good I didn’t want it to end. The Tiramisu desert — CAN I GET MORE!!! Don’t look elsewhere if you are looking for authentic Italian food. This IS the REAL DEAL!

I always make sure to return to this restaurant whenever I’m in CT for work! This is my third time here, and I would say this restaurant gets better with each visit. I always try something different each time I come here. Treva is definitely not one of those hit-​or-​miss restaurants, and it’s pretty much safe to try anything. Some dishes are better than others but I’ve never had a dish that disappointed! Always dined here in groups and never heard anyone else complain either. I would say the consistency in the flavor and quality of the dishes here signify that Treva has a great chef and kitchen staff. This is why I am giving Treva 5-​stars. I love restaurants that deliver good food time and time again especially after I take risks to order different things off the menu.
Going over what my tabled ordered from this visit.
Polpo (crispy octopus) — If you like octopus this dish is to die for! This is one of the best octopus dishes I’ve had in my life. They don’t chop the octopus into little slices so you can get a big piece and just bite into it. So meaty! I’ve also tried Treva’s calamari before, too. Would recommend the octopus over the calamari although calamari is perhaps more shareable.
Arancini — This was a cheesy dough ball like appetizer with a cherry in the middle. It reminded me of southern comfort food and a marriage of mozzarella sticks, mac and cheese, and grits.
Grigliata Mista — I wanted to stick to protein and couldn’t decide on one protein choice I so I got the entrée that came with everything: lamb chop, hanger steak, sausage, and grilled chicken! All the meats came laid out on a wooden cutting board with two sides (crispy fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts). The lamb chop and sausage were the best part. The hanger steak and grilled chicken wasn’t bad but I did not have room left and had to pack it. For the price however, this dish is an excellent deal and easily shareable between two people. The sides were cooked very well, too.
Agnello — One friend at my table ordered the lamb chop entrée which was cooked the exact same way as the lamb chop in my entrée. Only difference was she got two lamb chops with her entrée and I only got one.
Rigatoni — Another friend ordered a pasta dish. He said he liked it. They gave him a very generous portion. The pasta was supposed to have been «homemade» but I honestly could not tell. I’m not an order-​pasta-​at-​an-​expensive-​restaurant type of person.
Polenta — Got this as a side dish and it was creamy and delicious! I’ve never had polenta before but taste like cheesy grits and mashed potatoes.
The best part about my meal was my dessert. I got the the local honey budino with fig gelato. YOU MUST GET THE BUDINO! I have to agree with another review already posted on here. The budino was one of the BEST DESSERTS I’ve had in my life. Both of my friends opted for the tiramisu. Although it was a very good tiramisu (dusted with a lot of high quality cocoa powder and very moist), they said their tiramisu was way too rich and were both envious of my budino. The budino had the texture of crème brûlée and the rich honey flavor was just amazing. The fig gelato was a plus and very unique. Overall, it was a very balanced dessert, not too sweet or rich, very satisfying ending to a good meal. I have also had the affogato here before, too. That is another very good, not too rich, dessert, but not as unique as the budino.
Service this time wasn’t as endearing as the French waiter from my first visit here, but it was on point as always. We had two waitresses for some reason and they came to check on the table with the correct frequency. I like that I was able to enjoy my company and talk to my friends without having to be interrupted every 15 minutes from waitstaff asking «how’s everything” – because usually even if it’s just okay, you know you’re going to nod and lie anyway. Waitresses came around just enough where I was able to get my water and bread refilled.
If you haven’t I highly suggest you check out this restaurant! It is pricey but worth it. Treva is definitely my favorite «fancy» restaurant in the area!

A salumi-​crazed haven, it’s hard not to be attracted to all the meat at Treva. Hanging cured meat that is!
The salumi and formaggi are always a treat. Pappardelle is fantastic (if it isn’t overcooked, be sure to specify) For entrees, I’ve only ever stuck with the seafood. The scallops, polenta and wild mushrooms are melt-​in-​your-​mouth good. The pork chop, hash, and braised kale is pretty tasty. Don’t forget to try the prosciutto-​wrapped shrimp, bucatini, porchetta and tiramisu!
If you’re trying to have a good time on the cheap, Treva is great for happy hour. Weekdays, 4−6pm you have a handful of $ 2 apps (fresh caprese salad, truffle fries, mixed olives and fried brussel sprouts, oh my) and $ 5 apps which include a ravioli of the day, hanger steak bruschetta, and a fresh beef cheeseburger. With similar drink special pricing, it’s hard to resist, especially in the warmer months.
Although incredibly friendly, the service hasn’t always been consistent. That said, wait staff and bartenders can be a good mix of personable and efficient. Trendy crowd, rustic backdrop — I can see why locals gravitate here.

I decided to check out Treva for my birthday dinner last night, and I was pretty impressed! Owned by the same guy who owns a’VERT (get it? Treva backwards?) where I had a fantastic experience last month.
Like a’VERT, Treva had a very nice looking menu with a good selection of both entrees and smaller, tapas-​style dishes. My group started out with a selection of meats and cheeses, as well as one of their mozzarella bar options.
For dinner, I opted for the Garganelli which included smoked prosciutto, peas, radicchio, parmigiano cream which was the perfect combination of smokey, sweet, bitter, salty, and creamy all wrapped up in one dish.
For dessert, I went with their local honey Budino (think custard-​y sort of dish) which was paired with a fig gelato, and it was one of the better desserts I’ve had in a long time.
Overall, I think I would have to give the edge to a’VERT in comparison to Treva, but they are both top-​notch restaurants in the West Hartford/​Blue Back Square area!
