Food was good! Traditional diner food: eggs, home fries, bacon and the like. We had breakfast for under $ 20. We tried the turkey special and two eggs with bacon. The pancakes were the shining star of the breakfast. They were deliciously rich and dense could soak up a lot of syrup, my favorite. ****They DONOT accept credit cards!!****

Quaint, cute, and shockingly cheap to this city girl. Always a line during brunch but it generally passes quick. Food is served hot and quick. Service is always polite. Only place I’ve been with Moxie soda on the menu.

I love coming to Quaker Diner. It’s a great diner with great food and the food is priced right in this pretentious town. Anything you order will be delicious. I love the spinach, tomato, and feta omelette. A tip: it’s always packed on the weekend so unless you are willing to sit at the bar, be prepared to wait.

My favorite place for breakfast fare any day of the week that I have cash. My favorite are any of the omelettes | my son loves the pancakes | my husband loves the 2×2×2. It’s consistent and fast(once you get seated | I wait for a both because my legs are too much for the low counter height).

Exactly what I was looking for. My pet peeve is over priced breakfast, this was not it. Great food in a small cozy diner type place with an open kitchen. The menu is basic breakfast items: pancakes, eggs, meats etc. The food was just OK though. That was really the only downfall. There appeared to only be one cook which led to the bacon and home fires being pre cooked and sitting in the warming area of the flat top grill. So the bacon was over cooked and too crispy. Overall it was a good experience and a cheap decent breakfast. I would definitely be back.

Listen, this is an old school diner serving up quick, homemade, comfort food breakfast. It’s small, yes, but what else would you expect from a restaurant the size of a trolley car? A magical second floor? I don’t think QD should be dinged for their size. The place is consistently clean and abuzz with happy patrons. The antique pictures, appliances, and artwork are something to be mentioned. Really makes you think about making dreams come true. Ok, on to the food and service. The breakfast is no-frills, real deal diner food. You know how some other places use a massive jug of liquid«eggs» to make their food? Not at QD. You’ll see a ginormous stack of eggs behind the grill. Thank you! There is one waitress who is always a ray of sunshine. I wish I could bottle up her positivity and enthusiasm and take it with me for the day. Your coffee cup will never be empty, and your bellies will be full. Great bang for the buck. Nothing fancy, but everything authentic. Relax, West Hartford. Not everything needs to be new and improved when it’s already established and genuine. Amen.

Fabulous diner. The Italian Omelette with the spicy sausage is to die for. Surprisingly friendly staff when you consider the fact that they all probably get up at 4:00am to come to work. Always a wonderful experience here.

First time here– I’ve heard a lot of hype about this place and I was really excited to go, but unfortunately it did not live up to my hopeful expectations. The place is super cute and clean, very small, so I don’t recommend going during peak breakfast hours if you’re in a rush. Luckily, a table got up right as we walked in so we snagged it. It was fairly busy and there was only 1 server on and a few people behind the bartop. The server was very sweet and vocalized to us that she would be over as soon as she could be. Unfortunately, it was quite some time before she got back to clean our dirty table. We normally wouldn’t sit at a dirty table but because they were coming and going so quickly, we didn’t want to loose it, so we sat. She did apologize for the wait however. She was only one person so we understand she couldn’t get to everyone at once, but maybe they should have more than 1 server on during busy times. The food was OK. Not bad by any stretch of the matter, but it didn’t really stand out that much. From what I’ve heard about QD, it should have been out of this world. My chocolate chip pancakes were not bad, at first the chocolate chip to pancake ratio was good then after a few bites it was way too chocolaty. My scrambled eggs were fine, but the homefries were a bit lackluster. I don’t know, I’ve had better breakfasts elsewhere with quicker service. I ran out of OJ and water and it took a while before we got our refills. I think some of the issues I had here could be solved by adding an additional wait staff member, but not sure about the food. It left much to be desired. I would like to try it again because I really wanted to like it, but we shall see.

2015-Dec-26: Having indulged heavily on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day revelry. The morning after feeling burned out from cooking, the wife and I decided to take a healthy walk to the Quaker Dinner for mid-point breakfast break. The coffee wasn’t its usual, but a new test brand. Not bad, but not superior. Not the fault of our servers and this probably would have gone unnoticed if it hadn’t been the main topic of discussion among the staff & regulars. We moved on into the real reason for the stop. An egg white x3 omelette with feta, spinach, tomato, & onion for Mama. I had my usual & favorite, whole egg, bacon, and provolone on a grilled hard roll. Not he healthiest, but I had worked up a good appetite(& only half way through our hoof). However, NO home fries, sad, but true. A 2nd cup of «that» coffee and good to go again. This might become a new routine.

The food is pretty good and service is fast, but it is the overall«old diner» experience that makes Quaker Diner great. This little diner is a trip back in time, whether sitting in a booth or at the counter, the experience is memorable. My only complain was with cheddar home fries. The cheese felt more like nacho cheese. I will not be getting those again. Overall this is a solid place.

Well, I was going to post a few pics but the(35) already posted pretty much cover every angle of this small diner.(17) counter stools complement the(5) tables available for patrons. Diner food at its finest. Prices are very reasonable. Especially considering it is located in West Hartford. This place is a step back in time. Sit at the counter, relax and watch the expertise of the short order cook prepping the chow. Service is prompt and it comes with a smile. As many have reported the diner style food is very good. Special combo plates are posted and all feature a very good price. Today I had grilled chicken with gravy on top of a heap of rice. Tasted just like the way I remember my grandmother made it. Simple and delish. Bottom line… if you are looking for the old time«diner» experience, in West Hartford CT, drive a couple of miles away from the center and Blueback Square and check this place out. Enjoy.

Great little joint. Bring cash, a little patience(the place fills quickly, but tables turnover quickly too), and enjoy a solid no frills diner breakfast.

Decent food, service was average. I did like their salsa that they put on the eggs. Taste homemade and original flavor.

I don’t want to tell you how awesome this diner is, but I have to because it is such a hidden gem. It is a good, old-fashioned diner– with spinning stools and a Formica counter. It’s not fancy, and I love it. The eggs are delicious and the corned beef hash is phenomenal. The coffee is bottomless, and the cozy atmosphere makes it feel like home– no matter where you’re from. I can’t say enough good things about this place, so check it out!

As long as you know this is a casual ‘no frills’ diner, you’ll likely enjoy your visit. The menu is large enough to give something for everyone in your group and it is incredibly good value. Once we’d ordered, the food came out very quickly and was well cooked. If you come at a busy time(weekend brunch particularly), you might need to wait 15 minutes for a table, so be prepared for that. The service was also a little spotty at times — they’re very casual in all things, which gives the place a certain charm, but at times I wondered if they really wanted us there. But then I reminded myself — this is a diner that’s popular and has great food. With this kind of place, I give them a break on the service. If you think you couldn’t do that, then this won’t be the place for you. But otherwise, eat away!

YUM! Love this place and I love sitting on the stools, watching the chefs cook. Simple and quaint this is a great diner. Good coffee, awesome omelettes, delicious food. They don’t get credit card so make sure you have cash. Very tiny place so be prepared to wait.

The classic greasy spoon in West Hartford. If you come here expecting standout service, food, or atmosphere, you probably made the wrong choice. But, there’s something great about grabbing a seat at the bar with a cup of strong coffee and a greasy breakfast sandwich on a hard roll on a weekend morning.

We waited for about 20 minutes for a table on a Saturday morning, so not TOO bad for a weekend. Once we were seated, the service was fine enough, although our waitress seemed confused by a lot of things. I got a breakfast sandwich(egg, cheese and turkey sausage on an english muffin) which was serviceable with some hot cocoa on the side, which was clearly just Swiss Miss mix. Everyone else appeared to like their meals. This is a classic greasy spoon, no frills diner, and I got what I would expect to get there.

The Quaker is a mediocre old school diner. Nothing special at all. The first thing of note is that this place is small. Very small. They also don’t take names for seating. You just sorta stand in a make shift line and wait for the next table. It’s somewhat of annoying process as it tends to become a free for all when it’s busy with people hovering over your table waiting for you to get up. I don’t love the concept. As for the food, good prices but bland as well. The pancakes were terrible and I would not recommend them. The French toast was ok. The omlettes and other egg dishes looked better but I didn’t get a chance to try them. Service was spotty at best. Overall I probably wouldn’t return.
