John’s Gutter Cleaning, Installation, & Repair

If my husband was writing this review, he would have given 1 star. I give them 2 — only because the work that John and his partner performed was decent. What we were NOT happy with was the fact that the guys showed up 12 hours late for the job. The woman in the office said «sometime after 5pm» and they arrived at 10AM the next morning. So technically, sometime after 5pm was accurate? The other negative thing was that the pricing for what we wanted to have done (a simple gutter installed on one side of our home) was given to us verbally by John. But when it came time to pay, the price went up by 100.00 AND then TAX was added. So a severe miscommunication occurred.
What lured me in was their professional-​looking website. What initially made us wary about the decision to go for it was the lack of reviews. But then my husband and I shrugged and said, «No reviews are better than poor reviews.» Well, here is their first review, and it’s not that great! In the end, the pricing was still fair, however. If John had just been straightforward about the total + tax and not changed the amount at the last minute, we probably would have paid it no questions asked, and had them do the work. My advice… get something in writing BEFORE they start the work. And be prepared to camp out in your living room in your pajamas wondering when they’re going to show up.
