The successful culture of Adaptive Movement Parkour is directly from its founder, Scott Hoffman. His team is amazing, and he has surrounded himself with like-minded partners in this business. My sons are 10 and 13. When my older son was 11, he found parkour, and decided he wanted to learn about it. At the time, this gym was located in Middletown, and it was a hike for us from Avon. But when I met Scott Hoffman, and saw him interact with his students, there was no doubt in my mind that it was worth the time, and worth the drive. With the new gym in West Hartford, they will hopefully be able to grow quickly and bring this way of life to more people. Scott’s not just a good parkour instructor. He’s a very gifted teacher, period. I’m absolutely sure his math students benefit from him just as much as his parkour students do. My kids walk into the gym and feel immediately that it’s a place where they belong. They freely interact with the instructors, they feel it’s a place where they can learn and be themselves. It’s a collaborative, supportive, non-competitive environment. The only people they compete with is themselves. They learn listening skills, discipline, behavior consequences. They are NEVER yelled at. They are corrected appropriately when necessary. They are always, always encouraged. When one student has been working really hard on acquiring a new skill, it’s noticed, and when he/she gets it, it’s celebrated. Scott and his team really get the kids to work hard, and they love it while they’re doing it. This gym is sort of a magic place for my kids. If we could manage it, I’d bring them there every single day. They love parkour, and they really love spending time with, and learning from, Scott, Mike and the rest of the team. I can not recommend this place highly enough.
