Don’t let the looks of this place scare you away. Although the views out the windows from the top of the mountain are beautiful the room itself leaves a bit to be desired. Tables were not clean and there were flies buzzing inside the windows. The hostess/waitress looked up from what ever she was doing and told us to sit any where we wanted and then disappeared. After waiting at our table for several minutes we walked up to the counter thinking we had to order there. It was obvious that was not the usual process and the waitress did reappear. That being said our lunch was really good! I had a goat cheese, cucumber, arugula and roasted pepper sandwich on nice whole wheat bread. All the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. My dining partner had a salad with grilled shrimp. There were lots of fresh greens and the shrimp were well cooked. So we went away very satisfied with our meal. An additional plus was that we each had a $ 5 voucher toward food that we were given when we bought our lift tickets. So it was a very reasonable meal.

What’s not to like here? Ample seating, large windows facing the mountain, bathrooms, great brews, mixed drinks, above average lodge food… all at the peak of the mountain. Forget about«should we grab a drink/hit the bathroom after this run?», you can now grab a drink DURING the run(for some reason hitting up the base lodge for any of this really kills the vibe). We picked up a few brews, some pickled veggies and a grilled cheese. All were wayyy better than anything offered at the base lodge. Def would’ve rocked a sausage if I thought it would stay down on my many tumbles down the mountain. Hop on Bluebird and get up here asap! Tip: get the drink with Captain Mo, warm hard cider, hot water and then add some cinnamon(forgot the name). It rules. Protip: TV was rocking some sports if you need your fix

At the top of the mountain, this tavern has beer, grilled cheese sandwiches and sausages. The dress code is black tie. Ok, ok, I’m just kidding — you don’t actually need to wear your tux or dress under your ski gear although you’d get serious respect and strange looks if you did. The views are amazing, with a nice selection of beers on tap. The service is a little slow and you might even be forgotten, but you’ll have killer views to enjoy while you wait.

This place is very deceiving. We went there for the 3 – 6 live show and maybe our expectations were too high. I ordered a Cosmo which the bartender has no clue of what it was so she made me a triple sec and peach concoction. The waitress who came out seemed put off to be helping us. Forgot half of our order. When we went to pay she came up and blamed another waitress for not hearing it right. Disappointed. Best part was the singer Ashley.

The best kept secret on the mountain was always Dave, the mountain panorama deck, and the double diamond bar. Now it’s been completely upgraded with craft beers and gourmet hot sandwiches… Well it won’t be a secret for long. Buy your own named mug behind the bar and call it your new home on the mountain.
