Got the durian and cheese cake, yummy, not very sweet just a bit greasy though. Thai iced tea wasn’t too sweet either. Unfortunately, cash only.

A new and interesting dessert — so tasty and filled with amazing flavors. So far every flavor I’ve tried is so delicious! It is great treat to share for small parties — our personal favorite is pandan with Nutella and cheese & also the regular with peanut & choco! Talk about fluffy goodness!

On my recent trip to Southern California, I had to visit this place and get more of their martabak. I called ahead to place 4 orders of their sweet martabak. We drove in a heavy rain for 1.5 hrs and picked them up. First slice went in my mouth and I was in heaven for 30 seconds. As close as you can get without flying for 18 hours to Indonesia! It was warm, sweet, savory, fluffy, creamy — perfectness! Not to mention, you can stock up your refrigerator/freezer, they keep well, you just need to warm it up in the microwave. Covered in wet cloth, microwave for 30 secs on high.(not more than 1 minute — then you will start liquefy the fat and the chocolate, which is a crime!) I will definitely come back.

Martabak is definitely a glorious street food in Indonesia. This place definitely deserves its name because they are specialized in Martabak. Ordered and tried few of their martabak fillings and it was as best as it gets. Filled my craving and I can’t go wrong with martabak. Taking it to go is a must in my opinion as there is a very limited seats/tables

I heard rave reviews of this place from Indonesians… so I finally dropped by because Indo people know where to get good Indo food, right? I got here around 1p on a Saturday. Absolutely NOLINE! Unfortunately, they don’t sell slices, so there goes my idea of getting a little of everything. The cheapest flavor is $ 15.95, so choose wisely. I went with the Nutella Toblerone. It was a winning combo. It takes 20 mins to make, so I was happy to see that they had a TV to keep me entertained. It’s also in a shopping area you can walk around too if you want. It’s CASHONLY so plan accordingly. The martabak was like a sweet gooey spongey sandwich. The edges had a nice crunch. So much deliciousness is packed into one slice that one slice was plenty to keep me happy for a long time. If you plan to eat a slice at the café, you may have to ask for forks and plates, as they didn’t have any accessible to customers. I’ll be back to try the other flavors.

This place has delicious martabak, something you can’t find anywhere else in LA to my knowledge. Martabak is an Indonesian dessert that’s like sponge cake. They average from $ 16 to $ 20 and they’re generous with their portions. I highly recommend the Durian/Cheese and the classic chocolate/cheese. They have shelves of Indonesian snacks and drinks too(teh botol) for those interested. CASHONLYCASHONLYCASHONLY.

Ever since I brought Indonesian food into my life, I finally had the chance of trying a martabak. Well, I never officially knew its name other than just calling it an Indonesian dessert(laughing on the inside) but I definitely recognized the picture when I saw it on Unilocal browsing for desserts while in the general area. Upon entering, you’ll see some tables, some snacks against the wall and a counter with some other types of boxed desserts. On the wall behind the counter, you’ll see a menu of martabaks with different fillings. I have tried the chocolate and peanut at a different restaurant but we opted for a nutella, banana and cheese filling. Plus, you get 8 pieces per order which is nice to bring back home and they’re made fresh! Once we did get our order, we were given plates and forks in case we were eating there(which we did since it was warm). The only gripe I have about it is that it’s oily as heck! Once you dig your fork into it, oil seeps through and leaves a small puddle on your plate. Dammit, but the nutella made things a lot better, though, so it was still so hard to resist. Look, I’m not that much of a healthy eater but I’d like to think I have some standards left. Lol. Overall, I’d still come back but I’d blot the hell out of my martabaks. Either way, a nice find and really friendly people.

The BF is Indonesian and suggested to try this place. When he pronounced it, I kept hearing aardvark so now I call it aardvark cake. These«pancakes» sort of resemble a bigger version of taiyaki instead. Spongey, fluffy pancake exterior sandwiching the chocolate sprinkles and crushed peanuts(flavor that we got). The pancake itself is oily as they typically use butter/margarine to spread it during cooking. If you mind, put your pancake piece on a paper towel to soak up the oil before eating. It takes about 15 – 20 mins for them to have it for you, but I think you can call ahead. Tried a piece right when it was ready and it was really, really good. The filling tends to fall out but messy food is good food. Pancake is moist and the filling gives a salty and sweet flavor to it. MMM. Only downside is that they don’t sell by piece, ours was ~$ 17 for an entire square takeout box full. Who needs it by slice though? I’ll probably finish it in two days.

Well this was an easy 5 stars. I had an Indo friend rave about this place and say that it is as close and authentic as you can get to a Jakarta without going to Indonesia. I picked up the martabak mani; there are 10+ options to choose from but I decided on the half cheese/half cheese & chocolate and I’m glad I did it is just soooo good. It might give you a heart attack lol but it’s very tasteful. I will go back any chance I get. It is kind of pricey for just a dessert with a price point of $ 17.00, but that gets you 8 big pieces of martabak. It does take quite a while to get this dessert prepared. Personally, it took me only 15 – 20 minutes if that to get my dessert. As these other reviews suggest calling in advance to order it over the phone to pick up later, I would agree with them. There are also plenty of other goods in the store area from chips, to spices, to other pastries. Check it out; you’ll than me later.

These rice sponge cakes with various fillings are delicious. I got the original one with chocolate and peanut butter filling. The cake has a barely noticeable hint of yeast(sour taste), but the filling was on the sweet side for me. Not only that, it was loaded in the cake. I had to scrape off the filling because it was too sweet and falling off my cake. No problem there, because you know that they are not trying to penny pinch you. I would spread the excess filling on vanillla ice cream for an added bonus! What I didn’t like about the cake was that it was extremely saturated with oil and you can’t really buy 1 slice, you have to get the whole cake, which is huge for 1 person and cost about $ 20/cake. Definitely something to share with others. On a side note, I wouldn’t recommend getting the miniature color rice sponge cake in their refrigerated section. I’ve had these cakes many times before, and these taste off. The texture was right, but the taste had too much yeast flavor mixed with coconut, some bitterness, and slight sweetness = stomach ache.
