Well THIS didn’t last long. As of 12-07-2010 this Bob’s Big Boy ceased operations. So the sign on the construction barricaide says. Yep. Closed with nothing but brown paper on the windows. Sadly, as far as this one goes, not too big of loss. It was overpriced, had poor service and NONE of the nostalga of the others. Diamond Bar is a much better place.

Yeah, four stars because it is Bob’s Big Boy! How can you resist him holding up that burger with that irrestible bouffant hairdo? Ahh, the memories of being a kid and going to the one in Pasadena(many years ago) brings a smile to my face. Ordered my usual Big Boy combo — burger, salad, and fries(with a side of blue cheese to dip the fries in). Healthy? No. But, who cares… Bob is still smiling at me!!! After binging on all that, I have to get the double hot fudge sundae… and let me tell you that I refuse to share. You want a bite? Hell no! Get your own. I will inhale that entire dessert with the exception of the cherry. Overall, is it the best meal ever? No. But is it worth going to, to relive childhood memories? You bet!!!

The breakfast buffet is pretty much the best reason to frequent this place. It’s available 7 days a week, and it’s open at 8:00AM each day. Bacon lovers, you’ve been informed. I tried ordering my favorite Bob’s Big Boy dish here, the Chili Spaghetti, but they skimp on the chili con carne. No bueno. The pasta needs to be swimming in it, people. That’s how they roll in Cincinnati!

I wish we can give half stars because they’re better than a 3 star but not quite a 4. Their food is decent and decently priced. They are similar to a 50’s diner and their restaurant is pretty clean. Their service are pretty good. They have this entrée deal if you order an entrée you can add a salad bar for $ 2.99 more. If you want the salad bar but not pay their regular $ 7.99 then you can have a friend order the entrée and add the salad bar. We walked out of there paying $ 22 which included drinks and TIP. The reason for the 3 stars: Their salad bar is really not that amazing. Salad bar includes: 2 types of lettuce, beets, carrots, raisens, sunflower seeds, 4 dressings, croutons, olives, cucumbers, ham, eggs and cheese. Soups: Beef Barley, Chicken Noodle, Cabbage Soup and Menudo on saturdays. They don’t serve Menudo with onions, cilantro or oregono. It’s a little disappointing but overall it’s not bad for the price. What we love: Patty Melt Country Fried Steak(A little salty) Not bad for the value.

Reading other reviews justified my experience last night. We wanted to give this place a try because we’ve never eaten Big Boy. BF said the burger tasted like a Big Mac and his salad had a piece of rotten salad leaf. I ordered the burger that had bacon in it and overall it was hard, dry, and not much flavorful. I was quite disappointed we wasted money for this place when we could have been more satisfied eating at a McDonald’s. The food was so uninspiring it sparked a conversation on what places have good burgers. If you haven’t eaten at Big Boy, you are not missing much.

Bob’s Big Boy is really famous and had faded out in the early 90’s. When I saw this new one in west covina I was very excited. I had a hamburger and fries. Unfortunately the food didn’t even meet lunch truck standards. The bread was stale, the meat looked boiled, and the lettuce was limp. The meals are a little over priced. $ 8.50 for a hamburger combo. I was very disappointed. I did’t wan to be quick to judge the place so I went a second time a couple of months later. What a mistake! The food was just as bad and the service was poor. This restaurant needs to re-evaluate their operation.

Really comfy atmosphere with friendly service doesn’t make up for the food. The burger doesn’t taste like it used to. It is not bad, it is just not worth the price. I think I come here for sheer nostalgia and the merchandise. They have some cute Big Boy items like a bobblehead and t-shirts. The food is not terrible, but just not spectacular. I really wished it wasn’t so pricey for the quality. In my mind, Habit is a much tastier burger stand at a way cheaper price. After so many years eating at these themed-diners, I think the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere and value has deteriorated. At least we still have the Big Boy right?

Yuck!!! You are paying just to sit in a cute environment and have this fat statue hold a burger up high. My moms doctor is out this way so I thought I’d be the nicest daughter I could be and take her to eat at the Bobs Big Boy. She was so excited saying that she hadn’t been to a BBB in years and how cute it looks. I have to tell you I was kinda exciting too. The servers are about as dumb as they come, I actually sat there and wondered what their interview process is like cause they seem to hire anyone with a pulse. The server took forever to bring our sodas. The food taste fake, like it is straight from the can and loaded with preservatives. I had a simple grilled cheese and they seemed to make that taste like rubber. It wasnt worth eating. This place was so bad I didn’t want to pay the bill. Verdict: I would have had a better meal at Chuck E Cheese!

2.5 stars… My brother wanted to try this place, and I had fond memories of eating at Bob’s Big Boy when I was a kid. All I have to say is «meh.» Besides meh, I felt like a round ball as I left the place because it was just a greasy and fatty meal. I know, I know… whatdya expect from an American diner type place. Their trio appetizer plate was good — chicken strips and onion rings were yum. Cheese sticks not-so-much. I got the breakfast buffet, since I didn’t know what to order. It was meh. Grease galore. Brother got potato pancake and that had very little anything else in it. Friend got burger — what a disapointment! I thought it’d be good but it was so boring. Dry bun, little patties. Boooo. On the bright side, our server was excellent and very attentive. It’s too bad the food is so meh. =/

Went here yesterday to finally see what the big deal is about«Bob’s Big Boy». Let me tell you I was UBER-EXCITED!!! I was finally going to experience the classic taste that many of the days of yore have to gotten to experience… Strike1…Server leads me to a booth and is actually positioned so I am lead to sit down on the side that actually has lettuce all over the seat. Akwardly I move around to the other side of him to sit on the clean side. To top it off, he actually asks if I would like for him to clean it. Shouldn’t he clean it anyways??? o.0 Strike 2… I order the Big Boy Double w/Onion Rings. When my order comes, I don’t see onion rings. All I see are fries which aren’t that great. I tell my server and he apologizes and fetches my onion rings. Strike 3… I left the restaurant $ 22.00 lighter then when I walked in. Extremely overpriced for what it is. Never Again. Ordered a Burger w/Onion Rings and a side of Cheese Sticks and a coke. Luckily this place is kind of out-of-the-way for me so I don’t have to pass by it and be reminded of the tragedy I had to endure = DON’T EATITUP!

Was excited to try the new location but must have gone on a bad night. Server sat us right next to where an employee was mopping with bleach, moved to the corner and never saw our server again. Apparently she left and never told us. No refills, no check… very upsetting. Food was ok but service ruined it. Could not even leave those limey bastards a tip… Chevy’s would never let that happen.

Just as good as I remembered from my childhood in the 80s. Had all the old favorites. The service however was kind of bad. My brother got the Big Boy Classic burger. My mother got the Reuben. I got the chili size. We shared everything and it was all delicious. This place ha always represented the classic American diner. And it still lives up to it with wonderful classic diner food and soda that seems to taste better than normal. And the end all be all the hot fudge sundae to end all hot fudge sundaes. So good, still. One of my all time favorite desserts. Love it!!!

If you grew up in the area and you think you are going to get the Bob’s Big Boy feeling that you used to get from the one that was here YEARS ago — don’t come here! The place looks completely unfinished. At best, it has the feeling of a Shakey’s and even then Shakey’s has more personality. The décor is almost non-existent. There’s not enough red — it’s Bob’s Big Boy — there should be more red, more checkerboard print, more vinyl booth seating. It seriosly looks like they had a totally square and empty room and were rushing to get something in and opened. Maybe it was my disappointment in the actual facility, but the food was pretty standard, maybe sub-par. I may have been really little when I went to the Bob’s Big Boy that was originally in the area, but I rememer everything being good. The onion rings were good. Other than that, my meal(chicken club on sourdough, which turned out to be a chicken AND turkey club with no cheese), was pretty flavorless. Everyone else I went with said they enjoyed their food — the combo(the burger patties were tiny, just like I remember), the philly cheese steak(looked juicy enough but really flat) — that is the only reason why I gave it an extra star. I got my fix. I wanted to see what it was like. I won’t go back again unless I’m forced to.

It’s a glorified Denny’s. Everything here is so unhealthy and just greasy and gross. I struggled to find something on their menu that wasn’t fried in some way, shape or form and failed, except for maybe their salad. We went with breakfast items for dinner and were sorely disappointed. They never should have gotten rid of the Chevy’s that used to be here. *sigh*

My friends and I decided to go to the new Bob’s Big Boy here in West Covina. I remember back in the day when I was a kid, my Papa would bring me to the old Bob’s Big Boy which is no longer. They are famous for their burgers. I even saw this on the Travel Channel once. I am not a burger eater usually, but today I decided why not. It was just your normal burger. I’ve had better at Red Robin or Five Guys. I mean they have a variety of foods, but the food is just ok. It’s nothing special to rave about. Service wasn’t even that good. They sat us fairly fast considering there was a lot of people waiting which was a plus. But the service wasn’t very good. I said no onions and I got onions. He hardly came to check up on us and he just seemed too busy to even notice or care. I don’t know if I’d come back. I think even a Denny’s would be better.

We came across this place because I needed to go to the bank(BOA) which was just right next to it. We were hungry so we decided to try Bob’s. The food is not all that special. Typical American fare, not a bit better than fast food if you ask me. I prefer In N’ Out over this place. Our waitress said the place opened the day after Christmas and it’s been really busy since. We did have to wait for about 10 – 15 minutes for a table. We were seated under the air vents, so I was freezing the whole time there. I had the Big Boy Combo which came with a side salad. I asked for Onion Rings instead of Fries and there was an extra charge of $ 1.99 for it. Big mistake– because the Onion Rings were the worst I’ve ever had. Greasy and limp. The batter was burnt and considering we had to pay extra for it, this was a rip off. There were about 10 rings and most of them were broken pieces. I also noticed that the quantity of food were different depending on the servers. The same salad that went to another table was fully piled on the plate but the one I got had just a few pieces of sad looking lettuce with over drenched dressing. My burger was dry and burnt and the bun was too sweet for my taste. I sooo prefer In N’ Out’s over this! Sis had the Patty Melt with Fries. I tried some of her Patty Melt and I honestly think Denny’s makes it so much better. There is definitely nothing special about it. Btw, the coffee is terrible here too. I guess people like Bob’s just because it’s «Bob’s». I doubt people come just because they think the food is so great. Anyhow, the damage done was about $ 30 after tax and tip. Ridiculous amount of money for the quality of food. I won’t be back any time soon.

I really wanted to try this place since there’s a giant Bob’s Big Boy in front and looks so shwayze. Went on a Saturday night and luckily no wait! I guess not as popular as we thought. My sissy got potato pancakes, prolly the best thing on the menu. Yum. And OMG the chocolate shake is a must-have! It was sooo delish~ It’s a bit on the expensive side, Denny’s would be cheaper. I’d say if you go get santa fe potato pancakes and a choc milkshake :) The service was good.

I’m a fan of Bob’s. We went on an afternoon while waiting for the car to be fixed. Years ago there use to be one in City of Industry, one inside the Puente Hills Mall and I beleive two in West Covina. So this place brings back great memories of the thick shakes, hamburger relish. DH order the cheeseburger, fries and paid extra to skip the salad and get onion rings instead. The burger was cooked just as request. I tasted it while it’s good, you get more bang for the buck at In & Out. I had the breakfast, eggs over easy, hash browns, bacon, side of pancakes. Pretty much standard fair, it was good and tasty but no bells and whistle. All very filling and our puppies enjoyed the leftover bacon. The pies looked yummy maybe if I have room next time I’ll try them Overall service was good and we only waited 10 min. Damage for two people, two meals and drinks was $ 23.00 plus tip.

So my boyfriend and I had to go purchase something at Macy’s and I saw the Bob’s Big Boy. I was really surprised that one even existed. So we decided to go there for lunch. As we were waiting to be seated I asked this lady that was sitting if she had came here before and she recommended the the Original combo and the brownie dessert thing. We ordered the Original combo and a philly cheesesteak + a peachy green tea. The philly cheesesteak was a bit dry. The Original was not bad; kinda reminded me of a Mc Donald’s Big Mac except with a different sauce on the upper half. I really liked the burger bun. Actually pretty tasty! The onion rings were good. Fries were like any other diner. The peachy green tea was a bit too sweet for my taste. I’m still a fan of In n out! They had a big statue of the big boy for us to take pictures. The service was good and the silver ware was still very shiny!

The new Bob’s Big Boy is located in the Eastern half of what used to be Chevy’s Restaurant. It is new, clean and bright inside, it was Sunday 12 noon and people were waiting outside. I had the traditional Big Boy Hamburger, with fries. It is a very good burger, I still like In-N-Out the best, but this is very good. The fries were done just right, crisp with season salt, I think it was $ 6.99, for $ 7.99 it also comes with salad. We also tried the French toast to see if was as we remembered, it wasn’t. We remembered French toast sticks, crispy fried and very excellent. This was a more traditional thick sliced, egg soaked bread, good but not like the old style we remembered. They also had a breakast buffet, we didn’t try it but I saw French toast, sausage, bacon, ham, potatoes and a few other items. I think $ 10.99.
