Went to the Friday Fish Fry and we were overall really impressed. I love the décor in the restaurant, it’s very antique-y and kitsch. To this day, they had the *best* clam chowder soup I’ve ever eaten. Cannot say anything about their breakfast, but their dinner is definitely a reason to come back again.

Delicious home cooked breakfast! Biscuits were home made and gravy had great flavor. The corned beef hash skillet was also good.

MothersDay Breakfast 2016 «NEW» Louisiana skillet, over easy eggs, with corn tortillas. Bunch of sausage, five shrimp, and a few pieces of imitation crab meat. Pretty good. Old country vibe. Cash only. No credit or debit cards. Cash machine is available.

Really good food and very friendly staff. Always smells good(no fry smell from the kitchen). We like to eat breakfast there. We always leave with a «to go» box since the portions are big. The only reason I’m rating them a 4 and not a 5 is they are a tiny bit pricey.

Normally love coming here… but why do kids meals not come with drinks… food was ok… asked if we wanted regular coffee or carmel coffee… might want mention Carmel comes with additional cost compared to reg. Coffee. …also just under 4.00 for a sm/medium sized OJ… a full gallon of Oj cost 6.00 at store… so not worth $ 80.00 spent… should have went to IHOP;)…Happy thoughts;)))

best chicken fired steak ive ever had, it is expensive but the food is very good, really no credit cards atm fee drives away customers it costs more in atm fees and losing customers then it would if you just paid the credit card fee, again your prices can clearly absorb it

Impressive menu. I had a difficult time deciding what kind of crêpe or blintz I wanted. Ultimately I chose the amazing German Apple Pancake. I ordered a half size, which was still enormous. Word to the wise: it takes 20 mins to cook, so tell them the moment you want one. Don’t forget to try their caramelized coffee, it’s so smooth. The portions are generous, the service is quick, and it’s family friendly. But I can’t give 5 stars because they are cash only. Breakfast for two was $ 40.

Exactly what a breakfast spot should be. … pretty much exactly what Cracker Barrell pretends to be. I can’t comment on the lunch or dinner options since I’ve never ordered them, but the dozen or so breakfasts I’ve had here have all been great. The service is always good, the dishes always clean, and the food is always legit. Their seasonal pancakes are great. The pumpkin(of course) in the fall was good but this winter’s ginger snap pancakes are amazing. The food is slightly more expensive than Cracker Barrell or any of the Greek diners, but it’s also a lot better quality. Nothing I’ve had has ever been greasy or cooked poorly. The steak in the steak skillet is great compared to most places. Old North lacks the bakery of Harners but makes up for it with way better pancakes. Fair warning, they only accept cash so be prepared to either bring cash or use the ATM by the front door.

Not sure what my rating was last time but I’ll check it after I post this one. I don’t want my comments from last time to influence my review :) Nice and cozy place. Nothing gourmet by any means, just good food. Not much different than you would make yourself at home. Fresh ingredients and what I would expect on a diner/pancake place menu. Is that good or bad? Neither, really. If you’re looking for a place to take a date or friends that are visiting from out of town then this isn’t the place to go. Hungry and just want good food? Stop by! I’ve been here a couple of times and the food is consistently good. Just nothing to write home about. Why 3 stars? Because the food is fresh, good, and relatively cheap. The 3 pictures that I posted were one tab totaling $ 40. Not bad for a Saturday morning breakfast with the family. What would get his place a 5th star(I take my ratings seriously :)? An updated interior(I actually like the outdated look, makes it feel cozy…) maybe? Well this isn’t Jacob writing for HGTV! This is me on Unilocal so let’s stick with the food! On one hand I want to say an updated menu would help but it’s not about surprising your customers with new items every time. I think I would like to see the food taken to the next level. Prices are low but the food could be better. More seasoning? Maybe. Less grease? Yes on the hash browns(but then again they are hash browns). Overall good food for a low price. Not a date place.

Came with a family of 23 and gave only 30 minutes notice. The owner made it happen very smoothly. Most restaraunts can’t do that even with a reservation. The staff is very nice and welcoming. Food is pretty good. My favorite is the french onion soup in the kettle, with gooey cheese and bread on top.

I never write reviews, this is my first time, but this place was so dirty I just had to. The sad thing is everyone was friendly and nice and it has potential to be a nice cozy spot. The food wasn’t that bad. It’s your typical American-style pancake house — processed food, high in sodium and high fructose corn syrup. If you’re not thinking health conscious the food didn’t taste bad. But the cleanliness? It makes you think about one of those shows like«Bar Rescue». The table was sticky, the carpet is filthy and stinks which adds to the smell. I took my daughter to wash her hands and the hallway had spilt food that hadn’t been cleaned up the doors to the restroom are filthy. Unsanitary!!! I don’t even want to think what the kitchen looks like.

Back again for the home style cinnamon french toast combo breakfast. Happy to see it is still on the menu. The service is the same which is great. This nice old fashioned family owned and operated business deserves our support.

First and only warning – this place doesn’t take credit cards, and the ATM up front charges $ 1.50 for withdrawals, and a $ 60 max. I drive past this place all the time, and judging by the outside, I couldn’t quite tell if it was as gonna be a great hole in the wall place or if the food would reflect the exterior. Anyway, the food was truly fantastic. I made my own omelette with ham, onions, and mozzarella cheese. Since I don’t usually pick mozzarella I didn’t know what to expect. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised! Not only was the mozzarella a good choice, but the ham was juicy and the onions were fresh, and the eggs were light and fluffy. The hash browns that came with it were great. We also split an Oreo pancake, which management offered to us on the house with no prompting, and we really enjoyed it! Even besides the food, the waitress was really friendly and amicable, and the atmosphere is warm, comfy, and totally made me feel at home. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. I will definitely be back.

My family ate here yesterday for lunch. I’ve eaten here a few times previous. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the food is good. My husband loved their homemade chili! I’m a fan of their pancakes and this time I tried the potato pancakes which were good. Some of the reviews I find funny especially the one wanting«espresso drinks». The name and the old school feel of this place would tell you go somewhere else for that. Needless to say we will be back!

We’ve driven past here many times and I’ve always wanted to stop. So glad we did! The service was great — very attentive. The place was decorated for St Paddy’s Day and it was very cute. I had the homestyle cinnamon french toast combo and it was simply delicious! Bf had the corned beef skillet and he enjoyed as well. Would definitely recommend.

All our food was cold… Warm at best. Still paid the $ 30 bill, but not worth that. Avoid… There are better places around for breakfast.

Hard to be generous with thid old style breakfast place. No credit cards, well water, that we couldnt drink, no espresso drinks or decent tea, food didnt taste right. Potato pancakes were simply not good, Spanish omelett was passable at best. Staff was pretty cheerful though, hence 2 star. To be honest I forgot that places are like that still exist outside large urban centers.

I’ve driven past Olde North hundreds of times on the way to my parents house, never finding a reason to stop and check it out. Finally, after years and years of driving by, I decided to give it a shot! Right off the bat, we were greeted by the owner of the restaurant. As a first time patron of the business, the owner explained the whole menu. He broke down the specials, along with what are the most popular meals at Olde North. I decided to get the«Country Breakfast», which the owner claimed to be their most popular item. I’m happy to say I was not disappointed! The food was great, everything was cooked quickly and thoroughly. The caramel coffee is a must try, this is coming from someone who very seldom drinks coffee. Their pancakes are made fresh and not from batter, everything was extremely fresh! The décor of Olde North is definitely old and outdated, though it does give you that feel of having Sunday breakfast at your grandparents. The seating is comfortable and not overcrowded. You are also able to hold a conversation without having to yell across the table at each other. All in all, I was impressed with the food and great service, we ate like slobs and I’ll be doing it again soon!
