Delicious, well-crafted sushi rolls. Polite service. Half-price sushi menu is confusing(pricing seems high; can’t tell if pricing is before or after discount) but the lunch specials are simple and fairly priced.

The trickery with pricing leaves sour taste. They advertise ½ price sushi. And the menu price is more than twice the usual price from other retaurants. And even after half off its still over priced. Will update in the food after I taste it in few minutes.

Great service and fantastic sushi as always. It had been far too long since our last visit.

I like this small but nice sushi bar. The food was fresh and the waitress was so nice. My only issue was their $ 10 lunch box was priced too high compared to the next stores.

The sushi here is not very good. Most of the items on the menu are fried with cream cheese. If you are looking for clean tasting authentic sushi, this is probably not the best place to go. The rice was very mushy and not seasoned well, the seaweed was not crisp, and the service was awful. There was only one server during a pretty packed dinner hour. Definitely wouldn’t come back again.

I went here for dinner tonight. I decided to give this place a try again after writing them off over a year ago for not having beer. My wife said she saw alcohol here during a lunch visit. Great! Guess what, they only have sake and wine. Seriously??? A sushi place without beer? Anyway, I stayed and ordered. The food: mediocre at best. The miso soup was luke warm, the rolls and and sushi were a bit fishy. The chicken skewers were tasty but not Japanese style. They had a messy sauce dripping from them. The edamame was good. The service: terrible. There was only 1 server, but also only 4 tables, with 2 people each. Service was slow and the server seemed confused about the job. I waited about 15 minutes for my cc to be swiped, since the bills from all tables were collected and ran simultaneously. Seriously, this is a restaurant not an assembly line. They claim they’ll have beer in June, but I’ll never be back there again. My advice: don’t waste your money here.

Another sushi restaurant with half price sushi and tastes like half price sushi. The décor is nice. There were paintings on the walls and a TV playing music videos. There was plenty of seating available. We were the only table when we arrived on this Friday night and 1 of 3 tables when we left. I couldn’t tell you what rolls we had and even if I could, it wouldn’t matter because they all tasted the same. Along with the poor tasting sushi, the service was just bad. For being the only table, you might think the waitresses would have smothered us; however this was certainly not the case. They stood behind the bar talking to each other(in plain sight) while we waited for drink refills, waited for our check, and then waited for our credit card receipt. Don’t waste your time here, unless half price turns to free. Even then I might go somewhere else.

The food was ok, not stellar. Terrible service, we waited over an hour for our food. Two tables seemed to be waiting almost as long for their check. Won’t be back.

I have to say that these guys are true sushi masters, this was some of the best sushi I have ever had. Their scallop Nigiri was out of this world and they are one of the few places in I have found that will make a hand roll. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great sushi spot, however be aware that is is not half price and it is expensive.

First time visit– stopped for lunch. We had edamame, calamari salad, and the batter dipped baby squid. We followed that with the sashimi appetizer, the tiger roll and the rainbow lunch special. Wasabi and fresh ginger arrived at the table. Presentation was amazing, and the fish was very fresh. The dining room is small but nice, and the service was great. Two other things– there is a coupon in the 2015 Entertainment Book. And, on the dessert menu, there is a peanut butter, jam and banana slices sandwich– just in case the little people in your life can’t find anything on the menu they are ready to try!

Was craving sushi while in West Chester, so I decided to stop by. I ordered the edamame which was delicious, the volcano roll which was by far one of the best rolls I’ve had as well as the spicy salmon. The spicy salmon was pretty good, but nothing special. The fish was very fresh though. It was later at night when I visited so they were quite dead, but the service was beyond amazing. The waitress was such a doll and so accommodating. Will definitely return!

Stopped in during the middle of the afternoon after getting in from a flight for a meeting. While I didn’t get the strategy of permanently having everything at 50% off(why not just price them appropriately?) I was pleased with the friendly service and good food. Not the best décor, but hey — focus on the positives — like my waitress Juliet :-)

One of the best sushi dinners I have had. I have had sushi all over the country, but the chef and the waitress really took care of us. I had some things I have never had. The place is not much to look at. It’s small and very dimly lit. My wife and I had been there for lunch and got terrible service. My expectations weren’t really high when we decided to try it again for dinner. I had a Groupon that was only good for dinner so we went to use the Groupon. When we walked in they had some weird channel on the television that was showing old music videos. I was not expecting much. Our waitress was amazing friendly, cheerful and helpful. She made some really good recommendations, including a special spicy Japanese dipping sauce I had never tried. We ordered a couple of tuna rolls to start while waiting for our platter to be prepared. We ordered one of the platters. I can’t recall the name. It came with 10 pieces of sushi, 10 pieces of sashimi and a couple of rolls. The presentation was amazing. The chef really took care of us. The seared tuna tasted like it had been smoked. There was crab I had never had. The waitress recommended mochi ice cream, actually in her own very friendly way, she really pushed it. I’m glad she did. I’m not much of a dessert fan. I usually pass, but that was an experience. We have been going to Soho and Akira(now the Dancing Roll) for quite a while and I thought Sushi Samurais would be a cheap flash in the pan. Not so. We got great service, excellent sushi presented the way it should be and the price is not bad for what we got.

I’ve been meaning to give this place a try for quite some time now, and I’m sad I didn’t do so sooner! The dining area offers traditional seating as well as at the sushi bar, and the overall atmosphere is peaceful and intimate with soft lighting. Right off the bat, our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. When he found out I was vegetarian, he quickly grabbed me a specialty vegetarian roll menu. :) Though I’m a big fan, It’s nice to see vegetarian roll options that offer more than just veggies and rice. Anyway, our food came out just as we ordered it, and tasted phenomenal. Did I mention the specialty rolls are 50% off? This place is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, or a big fan of sushi done right.

I don’t often leave reviews for places, but this place definitely deserved a good one. The host/server was such a nice and personable guy. So, the service was easily a 5. Now let’s talk flavor. We had the fancy scallop roll and the pink lady. Both were awesome. With the half price sushi deal(and a groupon deal) the price vs. value was amazing. Even without the groupon it’s an amazing deal and completely worth it. Check this place out, that’s my straightforward advice.

Let me begin by saying if you intend to come here for the sushi alone, then do not purchase the Groupon deal — it is restricted to the non-discounted sushi menu which has fewer options and are pricier. The separate half-price sushi list has a broader selection and seems more appealing to the taste buds. Deceiving, right? I know. But our server was very informative and sincerely apologetic in explaining the Groupon limitations so that made up for the slight disappointment. For starters, I ordered the Chicken Yakitori. The chicken was juicy and tender and the Teriyaki sauce was delicious, not too rich and salty with just the right amount of sweetness. The sushi came shortly afterwards. I got the Hawaiian Roll which has salmon inside, topped with more salmon and spicy mayo(yum!). It was flavorful and delectable in an Americanized sushi kind of way — not saying that is bad but if you are looking for authentic sushi, this is not the place for you. My overall experience was good, not stellar, but pleasant. If I am in the area, I would probably come back to try some of the half-priced rolls. Although I think it would be worth pointing out that some of the rolls in the half-priced menu were in the $ 17 range. That is VERY steep for sushi of such grade. I certainly don’t mind paying for expensive sushi if deemed worthy but I feel it is better to charge for the true worth of the food than to jack up the rates and sell it for half the price — just not a fan of this marketing technique.

My expectation for japanese food is rather high so my review might be a bit critical but I think this place is terrible. I was there for lunch with a friend and ordered a rainbow roll, the bill was a little over ten dollars after tax and tip. The fish they use were definitely not that fresh, salmon tasted very much frozen, doesn’t melt in ur mouth like those fresh ones do. The roll was covered in sauce, that was a big turnoff as the sauce is something that u use to complement the dish, but since there were so much of it… I felt like all I could taste was sweet sugar sauce. The rice they use are the long cheap jasmine rice, which is fine if they cook it properly, but it was way too soft. For sushi, rice is critical. Rice with too much water will soften the seaweed sheet, removing some of that intricate texture when u bite. Rice with too little water, tends to be a little dry, usually that is never an issue, since the way u make sushi rice is to cook it first then mix it with japanese rice vinegar so u can always add more if it’s too dry. All in all, I would never go there again, the rolls didn’t meet expectation and this place is too Americanized to serve anything other than sushi rolls. If you want real japanese food, check out ando. They are the only legit japanese restaurant in the entire Cincinnati. There are also good japanese restaurants in Kentucky(miyoshi). Btw, one way to tell if a japanese restaurant is legit is by checking out their hours, authentic japanese restaurants usually opens during lunch then close down for couple hours, then reopen around 5. The fake ones will always open the entire day. So just some FYI.

And I thought sushi monk was good… Wow. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t serve booze. I love a little sake with my sushi. The service was excellent. The sushi was SO fresh — absolutely no fishy taste and all of it just melted like BUTTA in my mouth. We had the salmon, yellow tail, tuna, and eel nigiri, a california roll, and a tuna roll. Absolutely zero complaints. I’m not a fan of all the rolls with a bunch of stuff on them so I don’t order it. The classics here are absolutely wonderful. The place is exceptionally clean — including the bathrooms, nice decorations, and enough seating. Definitely worth trying.

This place has great service, it’s clean, and it has a half price menu but I have to say the fish they use is not fresh and the rolls are covered with too many sauces and non-traditional ingredients… We ordered a rainbow roll, a dragon roll, a spicy salmon roll, and a Hawaiian roll. As you can see in the pic that I posted, they had great presentation as the rolls came out on a boat but I immediately noticed that the fish(especially the salmon) on top of the rainbow roll was flaking or separating which is a sign that the fish is not fresh. When fish is really fresh, even the thinnest piece should seem like a solid piece. You can see what I’m talking about in the picture I posted… Look at the orange fish pieces… The dragon rolls had fried onion pieces on it which was just odd. And I can’t remember what was inside the other rolls but the rainbow roll was filled with a fatty piece of fake crab… ek! I tried this place because I had a groupon, but even though their staff was really nice it didn’t make up for their sub-par sushi. I prefer traditional, minimalist sushi places where the sashimi and fish is the highlight of the sushi… Not the sauces.

I noticed Sushi Samurais during my lunch break, and decided to give it a try. A staff member, who was standing outside, pleasantly greeted me. He asked me what type of roll I would like to sample, and I picked the California roll. I took a small bite of the avocado, cucumber and crab delight. And, yep, it was a light and tasty one. I was planning to lunch there anyway, so I found a seat by the window. I ordered my usual favorite: the spicy tuna. It arrived fairly quickly, and I enjoyed the freshly wrapped tuna drizzled with spicy mayo. Before I finished eating, the waitress offered me some more iced water. I wanted to try more sushi, so I asked about several sushi options listed in the menu. Plus, a sushi lunch deal – half off! Sounds like a good time for sampling sushi. I settled on the«heaven roll»: baby shrimp, jalapeño, avocado topped with spicy salmon, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. Although the rolls were presented beautifully with cute carrot decorations, I found that the two sauces overwhelmed the overall taste. I enjoyed their customer service; everyone there was very sweet and courteous. I would rate their service as a 5⁄5.
