First time shopping at this store in many years. It’s a little too far given that we have some Acme’s in Giants near us. However I will say that based on my experience today I would definitely return. The lack of competition in our area has allowed both Giant and Acme to significantly raise their prices while lowering selection. It’s an unfortunate side effect of an oligopoly in the area. However what I noticed at shoprite was the number of significantly better priced items then what we get around us. Just like any store, there are some items that I think are not competitively priced, however if you’re a price educated shopper you will note some extraordinarily good deals here strung out across the store from meat, dairy, produce, and packaged foods. I also feel that the selection was significantly better. If you like to keep a handle on your food costs, I suggest putting shoprite into your mix.

I’ve been shopping here since I moved to the area in 2009. They won my business due to the combination of price, selection, and convenience(they are the closest grocery store to my home). However, I have become more and more frustrated recently. What should be relatively short, easy trips, are often taking longer than they should. I think they’ve declined in some functional areas during the last few years, and I don’t know if it’s just this store, or the entire chain. They frequently run out of items on sale, even if it’s early in the week. I’ve gotten rainchecks for items on sale, and then the item never makes it back to the store, so the raincheck expires.(example: 5-lb boxes of Clementines were on sale). They were out of stock, I got a raincheck, and they simply haven’t re-appeared. The raincheck expired. Strawberries were on sale this week; I’ve been there three separate times this week so far looking for them. They were out on trips #1 and #2. They had some come in today — I was lucky enough to get them out of the cart the associate was stocking them from. I’d bet they’ll be out of stock before the end of the day. Today, I went to get four six-packs of Glucerna chocolate shakes. The sale is «must buy 4». They only had two six-packs. I asked an associate who was stocking in the aisle if she knew if there was more, and she said no, check with Customer Service, to see if it’s on a truck being unloaded. I interrupted my shopping trip to wait in line at Customer Service, where I found that they don’t have any more in. Their suggestions were to either buy the two packs I had found at regular non-sale price, or to buy two more packs of a flavor I didn’t want, and then bring it back and exchange it on a future date, assuming that they had the chocolate back in at that time. I suggested another alternative, because we were out of the Glucerna at home, and I really don’t want to be hauling products home that I know I don’t want, and have to haul it back to return it. I suggested they write out a raincheck for two packages for free, and let me pay for all four now at the sale price — essentially operating like a partial pre-order. The first customer service rep said no, but another(thankfully) said yes, and she’ll hold the product for me when it comes in. She also mentioned that their next delivery of the Glucerna would only have eight packages, of which now I’ll be taking two. That’s going to leave just six packages for sale, during a «must buy four» sale. That’s the kind of customer service I remember from when I first started shopping here, and that I respect. So I paid for the four six-packs(over $ 30), the two I had were marked paid, and I continued shopping. They were out of both the bread that I really wanted(Schmidt’s Old Tyme White Bread, 40 calories per slice, and they are FREQUENTLY out of this), and the super-coupon bread. At the regular checkout, because I had had to pay for the Glucerna separately, I didn’t hit the minimum $ 30 purchase for coupons on other items to take effect. The cashier said she couldn’t do anything about it, so I’d have to pay for my purchases at the non-super coupon prices, and then go back to Customer Service and wait again in line for someone to then refund the differences between what I paid and what the costs would have been. Talk about inconvenient! And at the customer service desk, the associate informed me that the cashier COULD have done this. I’m glad he refunded me the differences, but it felt like he was upset at me that the cashier didn’t handle it the way he expected. What should have been a 20-minute fast trip through, ended up taking closer to 40 minutes, and I’ll still need to go back to get the rest of it when it comes in. Most of the staff is pretty friendly, I like that the store is close, but at some point, it’s not worth my time to have to make multiple trips in a single week to get items on sale. Three tries to get strawberries, and I’ll have to go again to get the Glucerna when it comes in.

This store is the worst. The produce is typically nasty and don’t waste your money on organic, because I think they simply slap an organic label on the regular produce and jack up the price. The cashiers are typically not friendly and/or pick and choose to whom they’re friendly. I visited today, the woman before me got a smile and polite conversation, exchanged Easter greetings but I didn’t get as much as eye contact. No hello, no how are you, did you find what you were looking for, do you have a shoppers card, what bags do you want to use, absolutely nothing, and of course no thank you. Woman behind me, hello — how are you? I guess my hijab turned her off… yes I’m Muslim and I’ve frequented this store numerous times and it’s just getting worse. Why do I return? They’re the only place to get reasonable halal meat in the area.

The store is dirty. The man that works behind the fish counter moves extremely slow and always appears to be miserable. I suppose he believes that everyone that shops there is retired and has all of the time in the world to wait for his snail-paced self to get over to the people standing in front of the seafood counter. The people that work behind the customer service counter offer no apologies when I have to ask for them to correct a cashier’s mistake on my bill. I’ve written quite a few complaints to their customer service section on and have yet to receive any response to any of them. I refuse to give ShopRite any more of my money since it appears to me that they haven’t done anything with those proceeds for the past 10 years to improve this store and their staff. They do have two women cashiers that are extremely nice but I, unfortunately, do not know their names.

What a terrible Shop Rite. They should be ashamed of themselves. Three registers open on a Sunday afternoon? I’ve visited this place weekly since my last review and this place just continues to decline. Poor service that gets worse, lousy produce and bakery, and if you need something, don’t dare ask. Today’s fiasco just took the cake. Closing registers down as lines increased. Makes sense. Way to schedule on a Sunday afternoon.

This is my regular grocery store, despite the fact that it is not the closest. The selection and low prices make the drive worth while. My family eats a lot of seafood and they have the best seafood selection/price combination. I love swai fillets for $ 4/lb. and once in a while I am able to find crab meat for half off and always get it for crab cakes. Another favorite is Haagen Dazs ice cream which you can get for $ 2.88 a pint about every other week. In terms of prices, their prices for meat are about 20% lower than other grocery stores in the area. Once again, selection is very decent. They always have several kinds of lamb and veal in addition to staples like chicken and pork chops. I have been always able to find staples such as half gallon milk here, while some other stores run out once in a while.

First of all, let me set one thing straight. It is obviously not the store’s fault that the gentleman was hit by a car and killed at this store in August. I know that. BUT– What really got to me was the fact that the store itself showed no respect for that poor man. They didn’t even close the store down that day, even though… Well. Ya know. THEN, when the one window/wall at the exit was destroyed by the unfortunate event, the store simply placed planks of wood over the giant hole and just now, 3 months later, are finally starting to fixing it. It’s conpletely disrespectful, tasteless, and chilling. Let’s move on to the store itself– I feel so bad for the regular employees because for the most part, they all seem to work hard and try to do their job the best they can. The management, particularly a certain manager, however, sucks! NO respect for customers of even their employees, constant attitude, and complete arrogance. I haven’t walked into this store once where I haven’t heard a manager(especially a certain one) threatening to fire employees un front of customers and dehumanizing them. Also, when the cashiers are all up fromt when the lines are long, they seem to go as fast as they can. I just wish the managers would get off their @$$es and actually ring some people up at an open register instead of judt yelling st their employees. Get your act together or you’ll for sure be out of business. I’m only giving one star fr the employees, otherwise this store doesn’t even deserve that…

I hate Shoprite. The quality is not great and I do not like the layout of this store. I found it difficult to find the things I need. I lived right across the street at Golf Club Apartments but ended up going to Wegman’s in Downingtown because it was a much better shopping experience.

I love my ShopRite! Generally the prices beat anywhere else(at least for the groceries I need) and the staff is friendly. Their selection is huge; it ranges from authentic ethnic ingredients to more gourmet items. One of my favorite things about this ShopRite is their cooking classes. For the price of a meal, you can learn how to cook and get a meal(you eat what you make in class). You also get to meet the owners of the ShopRite who always help out with the class. They are such nice people!
