No frills, divey rock and roll joint. Not the best layout for seeing a show but not bad either. Very easy to grab a drink during a set unless its very crowded, but that applies to any place. Don’t have much more to add… I like that it doesn’t try too hard to «be» something, rather it just«is».

—-REX’S ISCLOSED — OWNERHASRELOCATEDTOTHENOTEINWESTCHESTER — - Rex’s has been the core of West Chester’s Rock & Roll scene since the 90’s, before the place burned down, taking their awesome old circular bar with it. Then, like a dirty hipster phoenix it rose from the ashes into the iteration it is today. I’ve seen many shows there over the years from the likes of GWAR, Smoking Popes, The Shitty Beatles, Redemption, The Shitfits, Hammell on Trial and others. The«new» Rex’s has better ventilation and acoustics but expect it to get hot if it’s crowded and expect your very soul to be marinated in cigarette smoke when you leave. The bartenders are generally very cool. They have good taps but tend to run out of the good beers pretty fast. They feature nightly specials including a PabstBR/shot special(not sure what night). if you’re going for a show, assume that it will start very much later than it is supposed to — performances almost always go right up to closing @ 2AM. Men, if you need to take a dump, do it before you go because the crapper @ Rex’s is nailed shut with a skateboard(for good reason — I was a patron back when it was accessible). I miss the men’s «trough» urinal but hey, progress, right? They have 3 arcade games, usually 1 of them is pinball, and 2 pool tables. It’s not uncommon to see Bam Margera &/or Rake Yohn there w/other Jackass/Viva La Bam folks. But, in the hipster spirit of the place, it would be incredibly bad form to approach gleefully and ask for an autograph. Better to get piss-drunk and vomit respectfully at their feet while giving yourself a purple-nurple. Word is that the owner of Rex’s is closing it and opening another joint more in the center of town, and that Rex’s is going to become a Thai restaurant with a bar. After Rex’s, roll next door for some slices @ Culinary Deliveries:

seething with scenester’s and rockstars and rockstar wannabes, this place gets a good rating because 1) they really support rock music. the bands i saw while i was there were pretty decent and had a ton of heart. but most of all, the crowd was there for the music, and it showed. 2) who can argue with cheap pbr(i think 1 $ a pint though… my memories a little foggy ;-) 3) its a dive and for the most part(while not exempt) the college town frat boys avoid it, so you don’t have to worry about unnecessary aggression fueled by ‘roids and insecurity.(also it has a great«dive» atmosphere reminiscent of CBGB)
