This place is pretty good food, but the prices are too high for what you get. I don’t like ordering burger, fries and drink all separate and end up paying $ 15 for a meal

It’s a shame, because the quality of the food is pretty good. Unfortunately, the poorly trained staff, read that as mostly teenagers, don’t prepare, wrap, or pack the food well. When I arrived(on-time) for a pick-up, they had stored the burgers, fries and onion rings in a paper bag, then wrapped it in a plastic bag, then put it under a heat lamp. Soggy everything! But I unfortunately figured it out after I’d left. Do yourself a favor. Travel the extra few miles to Five Guys or Cheeburger, Cheeburger.

I have ordered from here a few times, and I had good experiences each time. I’m a 5 guys fan, but there isn’t one in West Chester, so this is second best. A lot of reviews about it being overpriced, but these have to be from people who order off of the dollar menu. Even a good burger at Wendy’s(which I consider the best fast food burgers) is $ 6. Don’t listen to all of the cheapskates who left reviews, good fat greasy burgers, great fries, give it a try.

Went with my boyfriend and let’s just say, never going back again. The food was terrible, atmosphere was just not what it should be. Didn’t like it that much. We were trying something new and let’s say this is one place we will never come back to.

Save your money. This place is lame. Expensive food that is tasteless. You can get a better burger at Wendy’s.

Well, where do I start? Ordered food online, but the order never came through because a storm in the area knocked out their fax machine and it had to be reset. Understandable… There were four teenagers there working the grill, counter, register, and milkshakes. They finally get the order out of the fax machine, enter it manually, and I wind up waiting for 40 minutes for two classic burgers, two milk shakes, and an order of onion rings. Ridiculous. Get home and the order isn’t even right. To top it off, I can’t even talk to the manager of the place because he’s not available and his staff can’t reach him; they tried several times.

For a lunchtime order we waited over 20 minutes and the staff couldn’t find our orders. They told us they were too busy to find it. $ 40.

I had fully intended to leave a 3 star/mediocre review as I have eaten here before today albeit several years ago. The food is very mediocre at a slightly more premium price. However on this particular instance, I ordered 2 classic(double) burgers one with cheese and one without since I have a dairy allergy. Upon arriving home, there was cheese on both burgers. I was notably upset seeing as how I could have been quite sick as a result. I immediately returned to the store and informed them of their mistake and what the outcome could have been. In the end all I wanted was the money back for the burger I couldn’t eat but they refunded the whole check which turned out to be good, seeing as when I got home my wife said to me «I thought you ordered me a double too?» As far as I can see it, if you’re in West Chester and you want a burger, keep driving half a block and go to Billy Burger. Your order won’t be screwed up and you will get what you pay for.

What they charge for a junior cheeseburger at 3.99 is the same as mcdonalds for only a third of the price. Why should I pay premium for a wafer thin burger? I stopped going when they no longer offered lunch combos. Won’t be long before they’re out of business!

Great juicy burgers, yummy fries, delicious thick homemade shakes & friendly staff! I was really surprised when I saw the reviews but my husband said he talked to the owner(who was running the register) and she had recently taken over the management. We’ll be back!

First time at this burger place. Friendly workers. I ordered a Philly burger. It was alright. Nothing special about it. The guy that took my order was kind enough to offer me a free drink when I said that I only wanted a burger.

Ordered burgers at 1:26 pm… delivered at 1:55 pm…3 screaming kids… food is okay but kids portions small and $ 2.99 milkshake is like a Dixie cup. NEVERAGAIN!

A common theme in all of these reviews is that the food is overpriced and I certainly cannot dispute that because it’s true. But I enjoy the cheeseburgers, fries and their milkshakes. I think it is a good in-between kind of place, the food and prices are in-between going to McD’s and an Uno’s. Their milkshakes are made with real ice cream. Overall, I think Jake’s is worth stopping in a couple times a year.

Wayback Burgers?! How about Wayahead prices. like prices I would expect to pay 20Yrs from now. They’re really slow too, who cares that burgers are freshly made to order, everyone knows that meat needs to rest before serving anyways. The burgers taste OK, but I would say $ 3-OK not $ 6.50-OK, no fries/no drink included. What a rip.

This is for the West Chester location, the Exton location seems to be much better. The special on the day of my visit was a Turkey burger with stuffing and cranberry sauce. OK, I will try it — make it a combo. What?!? $ 10.47 for a turkey burger, onion rings and a soda? OK, I am willing to go with it if it is really good… unfortunately, this was not. The burger was missing the stuffing, the cranberry sauce was missing the signature tanginess, Turkey juicy but tasteless and the onion rings were oily. There seemed to be 5 – 6 people behind the counter, but none of them seemed interested in checking up on the equal numbered clients. Hope they improve before they go out of business.

When it comes to eating out, I have an exceptionally high tolerance. I can abide bad food and less-than-rigorous standards of hygiene. I can handle poor service, lousy décor and terrible music on the PA. Hell, I can even abide children screaming like little ham-fisted hellions. But I hate going out to eat and paying for a meal that I could have easily made at home. That’s one of the biggest issues with being a vegetarian and ordering a burger. There’s a high likelihood that you’re going to get screwed and you would have been better off grabbing a pack of Gardenburgers at the store and cooking them yourself. And that’s pretty much what happened to me at Jake’s Wayback. An anemic Gardenburger slapped on a mushy bun with a slice of mealy tomato, some fairly decent lettuce and chopped onions. I don’t understand the logic behind putting chopping onions on a burger. The circular shape of the burger insists on a ring of onion. And speaking of onion rings — my favorite fried treat did not fare well at Jake’s. Imagine slimy, mushy onions encased in a sweet batter reminiscent of donuts. Ever had a fried onion flavored donut? It’s not good and no amount of ranch, ketchup, barbecue sauce or honey mustard can save it. The fries aren’t anything special either — frozen, bland and generic. One tiny saving grace could be the fact that they use two kinds of real cheese on their cheese friends. But dudes, I live in the Philly suburbs. I’m a Whiz kinda gal when it comes to my cheese fries. I want really crispy fries under a blanket of molten, yellow barely-food product. I can understand the futility of a vegetarian eating at a burger joint but the toppings are lackluster, the sides are mediocre if not downright bad and the entire experience had me thinking I would have been better off had I gone to Burger King. If you’re a vegetarian and looking for a cheap burger fix, skip Jake’s and have it your way instead. I know. I know. But trust me.
