West Caldwell Gas Station & Service Center

I went here after receiving a strong recommendation from the used car lot where I had bought my car. The owner and his son were both very personable and appeared to be knowledgeable about Volvos, and said that they serviced all the cars which went to the car lot prior to their sale so I figured they would have been familiar with my car as well.
I made an appointment after my car’s check engine light went on 10 minutes after driving it off of the lot and for a routine inspection. They had my car for more than 3 hours and charged me $ 500 saying that it needed a sensor replacement and fix a hose. They cut and reattached the hose instead of simply replacing it which is a nominal cost for a part. (Perhaps they didn’t have it in stock at the time?) I ended up bringing it to a place closer to the house who was confused by this approach who ended up replacing the hose and I paid the labor charge twice. Again, they were kind but I would not go back but in part because they are also not nearby.
