First visit ever tonite, Sunday at 6:30 pm. Ambiance is inviting for a storefront.(Nice décor. Cloth tablecloths, paper napkins.) Service was attentive & friendly. 4 out of 5 dishes extremely good. We had different heat tolerances and they hit them perfectly. Ingredients were clearly fresh, and the proteins were cooked very well. As for the one dish we didn’t love, the waiter was very concerned; said he would talk to the chef, and didn’t charge us for it.(We will try it again next time & see if it has improved.) We will definitely return with some some friends to try more of the menu. Very happy to discover Citrus!

Order the Dosa Chilly. Spicy and tasty, and awfully filling. Also had the lamb vindaloo. Not that spicy but pretty good. Didn’t have the dessert because we were too damn full, but hear it is very good.

Citrus was a great Indian Thai restaurant which I frequented often especially lunchtime $ 9.99 all you can eat. Got great healthy tasty food. Apparently, owners had some disagreement and separated. Now under new ownership. Will be trying it again soon. So, if you’ve had a less than stellar experience in the not too distant past, please try again. Thanks.

Update: This had become one of our favorite restaurants & certainly our favorite Indian restaurant; however, the menu has changed and some of our favorite dishes were eliminated. Also, the food didn’t arrive to our table as hot as usual and there were two mistakes with our dishes. They definitely slipped a notch or two in our book. Not sure if it’s under new ownership or what.

This place is pretty good! I used to work in times square & I would eat at Minar at least once a week & this place is just as good. The lunch buffet is a good value, plus you get a free naan.

Ordered delivery to my work an hour before my office closed, was told it would take 40 minutes, called an hour and a half later and the delivery guy had just left. Waited another half hour, delivery guy went to the wrong address. Finally showed up but at the building next door, said he «lost the receipt». Called restaurant to complain that I was waiting at work for an hour after my office closed, was told«you already received your food, would you like a receipt?» Seriously???

Small little Indian restaurant with awesome food. We started with the Dosa appetizer which was huge and can feed 3 or 4 people. It is basically a potato stuffed crêpe with a curry dipping sauce on the side. I highly recommend if you are really hungry! We also ordered the Chicken Kundapur, the Malabar Lamb and the Chicken Tikka Saag. All were DELICIOUS, tasted just right — not too much spice nor bland. We also had a side of garlic naan which was the best garlic naan I’ve ever tasted! I’ve been to Indian places where they just throw garlic on top of the naan and it slips right off. Not this place — it’s cooked inside the naan and its coated on the outside. They are also more generous with protein portions than most places and are reasonably priced!

If you don’t like Indian food, this could be a good restaurant for you. I like the flavors I like the ingredients, the spices, the dishes, this place caters to people who want to eat food that looks Indian but doesn’t have any of the actual flavor. There’s more spice in a cup of plain yogurt than in any of the dishes on their lunch buffet. Several of the people I work with were raving about this place, but if you like actual Indian food try Jyoti down the street instead. It’s not 5 star either but at least you can taste your food.

This place is small, but the food is pretty good. We ordered Thai Red Curry at Citrus, and it was nice. The preparation was fresh, and we got the aroma of this delicious dish from almost 20 ft away. Anyways the food served is fresh and we if we get an opportunity then we will definitely return to Citrus.

Came here recently because I was nearby and wanted some Indian food. If you didn’t know it was here, you might walk right past it. Small(seats about 30 — 40), intimate comfy restaurant. Seated immediately for an early dinner around 5p. The staff is very accommodating, friendly and attentive without hovering over you. Complimentary papads are served with 3 sauces. Nice! I ordered the veggie samosas as an app(you get two very large pieces) and lamb vindaloo(asked for mild) and both were excellent. Very nicely spiced and arrived quickly. You get a lot for the money. Also ordered naan bread with some mango chutney on the side. Another winner. Didn’t have room for dessert but I’m sure it would have been just as tasty. Would recommend this restaurant for a first date, married couple date, senior citizen date… any date. Very satisfied customer — will be back to Citrus again soon.

Have to agree with all the good reviews… would give 4.5…but really, best Indian in the area. Haven’t tried the Thai because there’s so much around but Indian’s really suffered in Essex county, I think. Here’s a great Dosa that could be a meal, but then there’s the great Dals, Kormas, breads… mmmm. Rice a little clumpy at times… can’t have everything. But save room for dessert and try the Sticky Date Pudding(I think that’s correct. more like a cake). So good! Nice small place & great staff.

What a total surprise! Not much more than a proverbial«hole in the wall,» Citrus provides excellent food, with attentive service. The tables are immaculately appointed, with gleaming glasses and utensils. The buffet, although not large, provides a good variety of carefully prepared dishes, filled with Indian and Thai flavors. Even their small and simple salads are rich with fresh herbs and aromatic spices. None of the items was oversauced, and the papadums and chapati were fresh and delicious. My only suggestion, is that they create a more eqyitable balance between Indian and Thai selections on the buffet.

Returned during a quiet Wednesday evening for our party of three Can recommend Veggie Samosa appetizer, a repeat selection and personal favorite – Lamb Vindaloo, another persona favorite Daal Makhani, and a Chicken Curry. Onion Naan was also tasty, and freshly prepared. See pics. Overall, good value for authentic Indian food. Friendly, attentive service. Tip: You choose degree of hotness. I chose medium for my Vindaloo which I’d place between slightly and medium hotness. Tip II: Citrus Restaurant is small, really hidden, and easy to miss. Across the street from CVS and Shop Rite landmarks. On premise parking with other tenants.

I’m obsessed with this restaurant. I’ve gone 3x in the past 10 days. I’m pretty sure the owner sees me coming and is like, «Oh, good, the crack I put in her food is working.» All jokes aside, I’m no «expert» on Indian food, but I think the Indian fare here is quite tasty(compared to other Indian restaurants in Manhattan and Montclair). Plus the service is great. I’ve actually never had friendly service in an Indian restaurant(not sure if it’s me or them…). But the main guy here, he’s the only person I’ve seen on the restaurant floor but he’s really friendly, great at answering my questions, quick to refill water and clear off dirty plates, and all around provides great service. For example, we were seated right in front of the AC unit, and as soon as he noticed my mom and I had both put on our jackets, he went over and turned the AC down. Off the a la carte menu, I’ve tried the chicken korma, lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, fish goan curry, and I’ve loved all of it. I’ve never had it anywhere else but their Shaam Savera is amazing. My mom keeps asking when we can eat it again. Contrary to some other reviews, I was more than pleased with the number of options available at the Sunday Buffet. They had 3 different salad options, a giant poofy fried bread, Gobi Manchurian(garlic/chili cauliflower), Mixed Grill(Tandoori chicken?), Basmati rice, Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, maybe a chicken Goan?(darker slightly spicy curry), thai green curry with fish, chana masala(chickpeas and potatoes), matar paneer(peas and cheese cubes), aloo gobi(potatoes and cauliflower), and stir-fried vegetables, plus a dessert that’s not usually on their menu(smaller than gnocchi sized rice cakes in a sweet milky cardamom-y liquid, I guess like rice pudding but with little gnocchi sized rice cake bites). And we were given a basket of wonderfully warm complimentary naan(I’ve never gone to an Indian buffet that does this — they always charge me SADFACE). We went in at 2:20(and I was worried b/c it was close to 3pm, when lunch ends) but we had no issues and even overheard the owner telling a pick-up/to-go order they could come pick it up as late as 3:15pm. I actually weighed myself before and after — I ate 2 lbs. of buffet… it was delicious. Based on the other reviews on here, we had avoided ordering off the Thai side of the menu, but if the green curry is any indication, we’ll definitely be trying some more of the Thai offerings. Green curry is one of my 2 favorite Thai foods and this was among the most flavorful and creamy I’ve ever had. All the seasoning and flavor has been fabulous — never too salty, too spicy, or too bland. And to prove I’m somewhat objective about this place: 3 Caveats: My parents think the lamb is a bit gamey, but they don’t usually like lamb(ever). I found it the right amount of lamby gaminess — but some ppl just don’t like that taste. We had one real miss with the pickles. I just had no idea what I was in for(thought it would be like a mango/lime kimchi but it’s definitely much more pickle-y and less kimchi-y). We also didn’t love the calamari, but I think ordering something fried that is supposed to be crispy to-go in a container that lets it sit and steam was our bad. We had seen another table order it IN the restaurant, and it looked fantastic(and was devoured).
