This is the best sandwich around. I drive 20+ minutes just to have these sandwiches. The sweet potatoe waffle fries and garlic aioli are unbelievable. I have never sat down here, but the take out counter staff is great! Plus, they have faygo :) if you want an awesome sandwich, go here.

Was hesitant about this new deli at first, but was pleasantly surprised! The menu is extensive and the quality of the food was great. The free pickles were a great touch. Will definitely be returning.

I order the number 2 corn beef, pastrami, with slaw, swiss, and dressing a triple decker sandwish. The corn beef was very fatty, pastrami was sub par in taste and the Russian dressing was lacking taste. The service was a great bright spot very friendly server who always checked on us and refilled our beverages without asking.

Massive sandwiches. Really good. Even the pickles are delicious — much better than the ones you get from the jar. I just like getting a real sandwich with real protein, versus the Subway that’s all bread and miniscule meat. You could literally make 4 foot-longs from one of the sandwiches here. Yeah.

I’m not much for« Unilocaling» but this place needs to be on your radar if you’re in the area. The FREE pickles they put on the table were game changers for me. I never even considered putting a sweet pickle in my mouth… I couldn’t stop eating them! The menu is extensive with great deli options sure to make everyone in the group happy and the matzoh ball soup is PERFECT with a broth that combines bursting flavor with soothing delicate warmth. The matzoh ball itself should be in some sort of Hall of Fame. My Reuben was thick but not over barring with a double baked marble rye that had a perfectly crispy crust. Yes with all the options I went with the classic Rueben but it’s hard not to get this classic samich when you’re in a West Bloomfield deli. I promise to be back for the smoked brisket sandwich that had me thinking twice. It was the pickles that already had me scheduling my next visit that helped me decide to go with the Rueben and the brisket upon return. The service was great and super friendly. I give them a lot of credit for the smiles considering the tough local crowd(ex. «Angry as an old man sending back soup at a deli» –George Castanza). Prices were right in line and maybe even a little on the surprisingly low side for the neighborhood. Went in for a sandwich and came out with a new go to spot for a Saturday afternoon sports section and food coma. Like I said, I don’t spend a lot of time on this social site, but Pickles & Rye gave me a soap box to stand on. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.

This wasn’t a bad deli, but not a great one either. They seem to be fairly inflexible and have some strange policies and practices. Maybe I am being picky, I don’t know, but let me relate a few of the things that kept me form burping up more stars. My wife would have liked to order one of the Eggs Benedict items. They are evidently only offered on Saturdays and Sundays. She asked and they declined since this was a Friday. I don’t know what is so special about Eggs Benny. They do offer other things with poached eggs. Maybe they only want to concoct Hollandaise sauce on the weekends, but this is no big deal to make. I don’t know, but they would not make it for her. They brought us half sour and sweet pickles. We are all sour(old) pickle fans. So I asked if we could get some sour pickles. The wait person told us that she could bring us a sour pickle for a charge of $ 1.99… Really? This too seemed arbitrary and strange. She told me that the Reuben I ordered would come with a sour pickle. Well it did. It was smaller than a Gherkin. Denied again. They brought the four of us a small basked of Rye Bread. It was soon devoured, as we waited for our orders. They did not bring more. In fact, they took away our bread and butter plates and the empty basket. I thought that was strange too since three out of the four of us had ordered breakfast and now had no bread. The four coffees we ordered did not get refilled. We looked for our server and did not see her so we left undercaffinated. My Reuben was very good and plenty to eat, but it was described as a «Classic Reuben» and the written description said it came on grilled Rye bread, which is of course classic. But instead, it came on un-grilled marbled bread. It was OK, but not as expected. The other egg orders looked OK to me, except the one order that included scrambled eggs looked to be a single scrambled egg. The fried potatoes looked lonely on that almost empty plate. This place is an improvement over Deli Unique, but it certainly does not hold a candle to The Stage Deli, which is right across the street. Will this place still be there a year from now? I kind of doubt it unless they start thinking more about what customers want and less about standing on ceremony and following their own self-serving policies. I don’t feel any need to rush back.

Nicely blended into what was formerly Deli Unique, the new Pickles & Rye is a real treat to discover! Owner Rick has done a fantastic job of taking the best of Deli Unique’s menu and melding in some great additions and adaptations. The food quality is superior, the service is great, and the prices, unlike a certain well-know deli across the street, are quite moderate. My personal favorite is the Chicken Fruit Salad, which features tasty chicken pieces on a bed of lettuce, with fresh strawberries, pineapples, nuts and a creamy and fruity dressing that is the perfect topping. It is plenty to eat for one person — plan on leftovers. Or, share it with someone, and you will both be well satisfied. The corned beef is excellent, and all other menu items I have sampled are wonderful. A changing list of daily specials make it a «must go» place to visit — and soon!

I only ate here once. It was last week. I just needed something light, so I ordered an egg salad sandwich on challah. I was VERY disappointed. I’d asked if the egg was finely mashed or in larger chunks and was told it was pretty finely mashed. It wasn’t. It was more like chopped up hardboiled egg, which doesn’t taste as good as a typical egg salad. I was also very unhappy that the challah was dry. That pretty much ruins any sandwich. I’ve been making egg salad sandwiches since I was in elementary school and I’m many decades past that age. They are very simple to make well. This sandwich was a disappointment in every way. Perhaps they have other food that is better, as the reviews seem to indicate. But come on people! How hard is it to use fresh bread and make a decent egg salad?

Very busy, active restaurant. At first, I was a little worried, it took a while to get seated because the host seemed distracted. Once we were seated, it took a little bit to be acknowledged. But, once the waitress came over, she handled things really well. We were not in want of anything. The sandwiches were what we came for and, gosh, they did deliver! Had the Sid and Seymour and the Big Three. Lean, delicious corned beef and pastrami, piled high! Both sandwiches were really good! Tried the chicken noodle soup as well. Broth had a great depth of flavor! The crowd was also very interesting and lively. Would return!

I will give this resto a solid four plus. The food was very good. We had a Reuben, French Toast, Kreplach soup, Latkes and french fries. With all the food that we had, the only off dish were the Latkes. They were greasy and very different. I was expecting a flatter potato pancake. Oh well. The service was top notch. The waiter very knowledgeable and friendly. The owner of this resto even checked on us a few times. If you go there, you must order the french fries. Sounds strange. They just started making their french fries in house. They are crispy, and full of flavor. I would go to this resto just for the fries.

It’s hard for me to describe how delicious the«my deli addiction» sandwich is without using expletives. They have gluten free bread that can be put on all sandwiches! A celiac’s dream! They have a lot of gluten free options out side of sandwich bread as well! A little on the pricy side, but portions are big and the product is well worth the price! I highly recommend this deli!

Yay! Good food and great service at a reasonable price. Finally. Thus far, I’m a fan. I will have to return very soon with my wife and son, to verify the experience I had dining there with my daughter. I had matzoh ball soup, followed by chopped liver and onion on rye, and it was almost as good as my grandmother used to make by hand before the days of food processors, . And, let me tell you, that’s saying a lot. Way back when great deli could be had all over NYC, my bubbe’s kitchen in the Bronx was still the best deli of them all! Our server was as helpful, competent, and pleasant as could possibly be. I just wish the menu had a bit more variety. Kishke, an assortment of smoked fishes, knishes, (properly prepared) could merit 5 stars. I’ll be back. Follow-up: we have since returned several times and we’re all fans now. But I can’t resist once again wishing the menu was more varied. I haven’t had a good kishke, etc. in years.

It is tough being a deli these days, with the hipsterization, deglutinification(etc, etc) of food. But living in a deli wasteland, I appreciate a good or even ok deli. My experience here was just that, between ok and good. There is really no comparison to the Stage Deli, which is just down the street and atop a much higher echelon. And it isn’t anything like Deli Unique, which used to occupy this space. As for the food, the mushroom grilled cheese sandwich gives you a good foundation, but you need to add something(or a few items) to make it satisfying. I added saurkraut plus a bunch of other things. The veggie burger was just fine, although the presentation is kind of bizarre in that you’re kind of expected to make and wrap your own veggie burger fajitas. The latkes are just as good as the Stage’s. The french fries are a definite pass. They are too thin for deli fries, and too salty. French fries really should be enjoyed, considering what you’re doing to your body by eating them. Service was very friendly. I bet it takes nerves of steel to work in WB. One other issue is the bathroom. It seems there is a one toilet bathroom each for the men and women. With an older clientele, whose prostates are bigger than most Matzo balls, this is a huge problem. I saw old men lined up, very uncomfortably, waiting their turn. Given the choice of Stage or P&R, I’d take Stage. But if P&R were down the street out here, I’d be joining the frequent diner’s club.

My new favorite deli! I am so happy we came in here and gave this place a try~ I’ve been bummed since the last«good» deli in the area(Vineyards) closed. But this place is even better than that! Their corned beef sandwiches are the way they’re supposed to be! The bread is fresh, there’s a heaping mound of corned beef(and options for even more if you want it), toppings are portioned correctly and don’t overwhelm the corned beef. I ordered lean corned beef and it was perfect: lean ~ but not dry! Also, the old dill pickles were amazing ~ Exactly the way they were supposed to be! Everything tasted fresh! We also got the portobello fries, served with ranch ~ they were good but we probably won’t order them again simply because the calorie count isn’t worth it as they are heavily battered and deep fried. My only gripe was the staff. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive ~ but almost to the point of being overwhelming and annoying. Some weren’t mindful of the fact that the customers can hear everything they say from behind the takeout counter, and they were all talking to each other from across the restaurant. Eek. But the food’s good enough that I stopped paying attention once my it came: o)

I love a good deli. There is little better than a delicious corned beef and pastrami on rye with Russian dressing and Swiss. When done well, every layer works in perfect harmony. When done poorly, it’s a greasy mess waiting for your disappointment or heartburn to kick in first. This was definitely not that. Pickles and Rye is doing it well! P&R has some stiff competition as its literally across the street from Stage. Having been to both, I won’t say the other doesn’t have nice food. It does. What immediately endeared P&R to me was that it was cozy, it was warm, and it felt more laid back while still functioning like a much higher priced deli with the same quality and quantity of ingredients. That was refreshing. Earlier today when I went to P&R, with what I would suggest is a challenging table, I had a great experience. Four adults(my wife and I along with my Dad and his wife) a two year old and a 4 month old. To my disappointment my 4 mo old didn’t want a Reuben. I’ll give him a year… he’d better get on board! The menu is large but not confusing. There is a breakfast side and a lunch/dinner side. The lunch/dinner side included all of the usual sandwiches and what I’m sure are delicious salads if you enjoy that sort of thing. The breakfast side included omelets, pancakes and the rest. We ate from both. My Dad and I, men of similar likes, went for the Sy and Gus, a triple decker with pastrami and Russian on one half and corned beef, slaw and Swiss on the other half of the triple. I asked for Rye rather than white and the server made a very nice suggestion to make it a single because the rye was hand cut and would be quite thick. Great suggestion. I love a giant corned beef, and this was thoroughly filling but not quite belly-busting big like some other delis. This was great as too much is just too much. The corned beef and pastrami were both perfect. They were incredibly thinly sliced, grilled perfectly, and the rye had a delicious crunch even with the dressings and some expected drippings. Speaking of those drippings… lets be honest, an overly greasy corned beef is awful and this was not. My wife is incredibly picky about CB for that reason and loved her sandwich. The breakfast side looked great too. My Dad’s wife had the omelet which looked lovely and by all accounts tasted great too. My daughter may have one the prize getting a delicious Mickey Mouse shaped pancake and blueberry topping. I don’t know if Mickey was on the menu, but it made my daughter’s day! She didn’t eat it all… which made her daddy’s day! It was crisp on the outside with a deliciously fluffy cake on the inside. It was really good. The staff was attentive but not pushy. They were incredibly friendly to my munchkins which means a lot! I’m pretty sure my 4 month old though he ran the joint as much attention as he received. It was a very enjoyable experience and will not be our last. Oh…lest I forget… try the homemade cookies. My daughter saw one, it was shared amongst the five us and I’m pretty sure I’m kicking myself for not sneaking one or two more out for the road.

I intended for this to be a 2.5-Star review, but I cannot figure out how-to specific a half-star … I visited yesterday. I arrived at 11:55 to find a relatively full house, but was able to be seated immediately. The server was prompt and effective. I ordered a reuben sandwich. It comes with a pickle, no other sides. It was delivered promptly and hot. The corned beef was lean. The swiss cheese had the proper tang/bite. I prefer more sauerkraut. What sauerkraut was included, lacked the zip/tang/bite that I prefer. The rye bread itself was fine, but I also prefer mine to be a bit more crisp/grilled. Based on prior reviews, I was expecting an over-sized sandwich. It wasn’t over-sized. Nor was it under-sized. Overall, I’ll give it a C–(a bit below average overall). If I factor in the $ 11.65 price, I will likely go elsewhere for my reubens. I will return to try out other menu items, especially the soups. The pickle. Good grief. The pickle was limp, lifeless, rubbery and did not taste of dill. Nor did it taste like any deli pickle that I have ever had before. On the way back to work, I stopped to buy a soda to wash the taste out of my mouth. Baaad pickle. P&R advertises Free WiFi on the front door. There’s a netw named Pickles & Rye. Hostess did not know the password. Waiter did not know the password. Later, the hostess said to use the«Xfinity» network. I couldn’t connect. Waiter suggested it was my device/problem. Not. Another business in the strip mall offered free WiFi that worked just dandy from my front row booth. Dunno how it would have worked from deep inside the long, narrow dining area. Will I return? Probably. I want to try other menu items. In their area, they are a bit of a weakling when it comes to getting my reuben/lunch money. I have reuben porn to upload, but Unilocal is not allowing me that option.

Walked into restaurant and seated at 7:20 tonight, walked out at 7:30. No water or set-ups and checks from. previous customers still on table. Table who came in right after us was served water and had set-ups and a server ready to take their order. Menu is long and confusing, also a bit surprised as to how far they are nickel and diming their customers. .65 cents for a piece of lettuce on a sandwich? Not sure if I will ever return, especially with the Stage right across the street.
