Grand Azteca

I agree with the aggregate review of 3.5 stars; however, since that option does not exist in an individual review, I will uptick to 4.
The décor is a bit kitschy — as if we won’t know it’s a Mexican restaurant if without the brightly painted stereotypic tables and booths. However, we were here to eat, and the food was solid. I am a low carb eater and there is usually little to eat. However, at Grand Azteca, there were several items with different meats with onions, peppers and cheese in a ranchero or other sauce. I ordered one with strips of steak, chicken, shrimp and chorizo that was very good. My son had chicken and chorizo and my parents had fish tacos and veggie chile rellenos. All were good. The food is a bit pricier than some of the other Mexican restaurants in the area but there was good value. Service was very efficient although we did not make any special requests.
I particularly liked that the fish tacos were grilled and not fried. The non-​meat option for the chile rellenos was also appreciated. The menu is extensive and you will find something you enjoy.

Just went to Grand Azteca yesterday.
The service: It was good enough. It wasn’t 100% prompt, but I didn’t feel like I was waiting too long for anything.
The food: On the whole the food was decently good. Nothing earth-​shattering, but solid. My wife and I both had tacos (not too adventurous but it was just what we were in the mood for). The meat in the tacos was good as were the refried beans.
One big annoyance for me: In their taco section, they have it so you can get 3 tacos with either carne asada, carnitas, chorizo, al pastor all for $ 11.99. I asked if I could get a couple of different ones so I could try more of their food since it was my first time there, and the answer was a firm ‘no’. If all of the tacos are the same price, I don’t see the need for this rigidity.
Drinks: I had a blue margarita and it was good. They definitely did not skimp on the alcohol and it was good.
Price/​Value: I think it may be a little on the high side for what you get, but not horribly so.

This place was definitely a pleasant surprise! I came here with a group of friends on Cinco de Mayo (I know, how typical lol) The place was packed so we had to wait a while for a table– nothing a few rounds of drinks couldn’t get us through ;) I really didn’t expect a lot of the food since this place is a little more «commercial» than most of the Mexican spots I go to but, the food was actually so so good! The guacamole was awesome and the shrimp dish I got was so delicious! It was grilled shrimp in a spicy creamy chipotle sauce over rice… can’t remember the name… everyone said their food was awesome. The 4 stars is because I wasn’t a fan of their daiquiris and the margarita was mediocore. Still I will definitely be back!

Great place!!! Sat at the bar with my boyfriend and we had Smaug food and drinks. Jesus is amazing! He served us our drinks and you could tell he loved his job: D definitely coming back again. Everyone should try this place out. Even the chips and salsa came with two dips and they were great :)

On first sight, Grand Azteca is like a whole lot of other Mexican restaurants. But there is something there that makes me think I’m in Detroit in Mexican town. Not sure why, it just is a comfortable place. Like margaritas? Watch out!
If anyone remembers Farrell’s ice cream parlors, and you ever saw the menu item called «The Trough», you’ll know what I’m talking about. These margaritas are big! The food is good. The dishes are done in a slightly different way than at most other Mexican restaurants. I like their style. I would easily add on another half star if it were possible and I knew how.

I absolutely love the food here! I love the salsa and the ranchero dip they give you to start with! I enjoy the chillie rellanos! It’s to die for! My favorite Mexican restaurant by far!

This is my third visit and the food is delicious! Great atmosphere… very festive looking! The staff is great too. A little on the quiet side and kind of hard to understand (don’t speak very good English), but very nice! I’m guessing some of the reviewers who «thought» the staff was rude just couldn’t understand them. So it comes down to it being a language barrier issue and if that’s not a problem for you then you will love this place! The food is excellent. Free chips and salsa too! No complaints here!

Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had! Just don’t eat the white shit they give you with the chips and salsa it tastes like sour ass, but everything else was really good.

Always great service and great Mexican food! The burrito with nacho cheese is my favorite! Also, the have Modello on tap! Always a good meal when head there after a long work day.

Getting 2 stars because the food was ok. The service was incredibly rude. My wife and i felt unwanted the minute we walked in and it never improved. Many other choices in the area no need to spend any money there.

I have found a new favorite mexican restaurant. It was quick, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was great. I had the burrito and taco combo, both chicken with rice. Excellent. I can’t wait to go back. And the price is very reasonable.

This place gets five stars always!!! I love the food and the staff are very friendly! My friends and I go here all the time!!! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants!

Came in for dinner, shared the fajitas for two — very generous fajitas (fajitas for 4 – 5!) and great 30% off margaritas drink special. Service was fast fast fast. Loved the refried beans which are the most important thing to me at Mexican restaurant. And great salsa and warm chips.
I see this place has 3 stars per Unilocal but please don’t let that stop you — my husband and I loved it

Great food! However, only giving three stars because of the rude waitstaff. I came in with my double stroller and there were two waiters standing next to the register looking at me «like what?» Wtf! The restaurant has a double door and I had to maneuver my double stroller! It was a nightmare!!!

This place is right by my house, which would be great if the food wasn’t awful. Not good. Don’t do it. Muy malo.

Geat food, but some of the worst service you will find. It is unfortunate as it is a mix of good severs and terrible ones. You roll your dice to see what you get. We went there 20+ times (because of the food), but enough is enough! ! Never again

Love. I’m in love with this place. I’ve recently discovered the fried burritos and they are awesome. Both the chicken and beef. We’ve tried a few of the shrimp dishes as well lately and they are fantastic. Recently took an order of chips and salsa to go for a late night snack and was not disappointed. I’d eat here three times a week if my husband would let me!

The ground beef tacos are lacking flavor. There is no seasoning on them anywhere. The number 10 lunch combo was not bad and for 6.99 I can’t complain. The chips and salad they give you at the table is also lacking flavor. The chips don’t taste fresh and the salsa is bland. I think there afraid of salt here.
