Excellent dinners! We had the specials of the evening, sesame encrusted walleye and New York strip with scallops. Both were prepared to perfection and served hot. The soup was Manhattan clam chowder, also excellent. The salad bar had a good selection too. Our server, Shiondra(sp?), was friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and very efficient.

Wow this place has some amazing food! I had the Steak Alaska last night, it was one of the best thing’s I have eaten in a long time. Filet mignon covered in sea food and alfredo sauce with a side of cheesy mash potatoes. They also have a great soup and salad bar to go with the meals, and had real lettuce not that iceberg lettuce a lot places give you. We went on a rainy Tuesday night and it wasn’t overly crowded, but usually you are going to want to call ahead and get reservations or your not going to get a table.

My husband and I went here for our most recent anniversary dinner — it was our first time here — and we had a great experience. I recommend making a reservation though, if we hadn’t made one we would not have been seated that night, it was a Saturday evening. Our waitress was a lovely lady, friendly and helpful — and had a great disposition. We each had the salad and soup bar, my husband had a steak and I had one of the fish dishes, both were good, cooked to order and flavorful. The cocktails were excellent(as my husband had a few…), and the wine selection was pretty decent. It was a wonderful evening, a semi-casual event with friendly down-home staff. I would definitely go back.

A somewhat scaled down version of the Antler Inn, which was only up the road a few miles and is now closed. Stuffed animals(deer, moose, bear, ducks) adorn the walls, complete with an overall log-cabin/woodsy type feel. Food options include small salad buffet with fresh soup, along with various steaks, pasta, fish and other local fare. I normally don’t order steak when out to eat because i can make a steak at home that beats all but the high end places. Against by better judgment, I ordered the fillet, figuring that would be the best of the steak offered, but it was overcooked(i ordered med rare) and somewhat tasteless. Maybe i just got unlucky, as everyone else seemed to have a decent meal(various steak, pasta and kids chicken fingers) with no complaints. The Log Cabin was someplace different and convenient(we stayed at the Rough Cut Lodge a couple miles down the road) to try in lieu of the now-closed Antler Inn, but I wont be in a hurry to go back.
