Steak ‘n Shake

This place is a joke! When they first opened it was great, now not so much. We are there no less than 1.5 hrs when we go, this time we waited 45 mins on shakes and the manager basically said it is what it is. I asked to cancel the shake order since they still has not started then and he wouldn’t issue a refund. He’s probably one of the worst managers I’ve ever encountered. He’s extremely rude and doesn’t care about the customers. The employee felt so bad bc there was nothing she could even though she knew he was very wrong. We won’t be back, ever!

The worst customer service I’ve ever received at a food establishment, and I’ll leave it at that.

While their burgers and shakes are good, I wouldn’t recommend going here because service is utterly despicable! We went on a Wednesday just before dinner time and when we got there, the place only had a couple of customers. But despite the lack of customers, we still had to wait in line for 20 min and waiters would pass us by as if we were invisible. Three other groups came in but decided to leave because no one cared enough to accommodate any of the customers. I decided to call the attention of the manager but instead of providing a solution/​serving us, he told me to wait a couple more minutes. Their manager needs to fix this problem because everytime I visit, it seems as service is always bad.

Food is cheap and decent but the whole place is looks like it hasnt been cleaned since it was opened. I call it steak and shit all over the place. But shakes are great, burgers good. I just dont wanna look in the window while they are making it.

I was so excited to eat steak and shake with my family. But I was disappointed very fast with how dirty it was! Service was very slow. Shakes were subpar– we were excited to try them because the flavors seemed like good choices but I could have made a better shake than that. Last but not least, my 3-​year-​old got food poisoning from eating their grilled cheese. You KNOW a place is dirty when that happens. My suggestion is to burn down this place and replace it with an in and Out.

We sat down after the guy cleaning tables said you can sit here. We waited for 15 minutes and were never greeted or order taken. We watch two other customers come in and get served, so we said let’s wait 2 minutes and leave. Needless to say we left. Will not be back

If I could I would give this place zero stars. I was excited to see that there was a Steak ‘n Shake in Texas. I’ve been to the one in Vegas several times and have enjoyed it each time. We get seated in the shock which was where we wanted to be. It took a good ten minutes before we were acknowledged. We ordered two burgers, a salad and two shakes. The burgers came and the waitress was like «I feel like I’m missing something». Really? It couldn’t be because you have two plates and three people at the table or how about the receipt you she in your hand? That wasn’t a clue that something was missing? I said you are missing her salad. Her response was that she will go check on it and be right back. She never came back. The burger was room temperature. It still tastes good but portion size, it’s way smaller than Las Vegas. Half way through our burgers and her salad still hasn’t came. I went to the front and asked about it. It was sitting on the counter. Who knows where the waitress went. The manager brought it up front and said he will deliver it to the table. I went back to my table ate two more bites and still no salad. Seriously l!!! I went back up and said dude just give it to me. We are just about done eating and my daughter is hungry. He finally walks to the table and hands it to us with the missing shakes. Let me tell you the salad was small, the shake was in plastic cups not the glass ones like the other stores. Very disappointed. And guess who decides to visit our table once we started complaining??? The waitress. Sorry sweety you’re a little too late to check on us. We went up to pay and was greeted by a mono tone unsympathetic boy who should be taken off the register who asked how our meal went. He turned around and got the manager who took the salad off. No apology nothing from either one of them. Sad to say that this is a franchise so this is your livelihood. Perhaps you should show some remorse to get the business back. Oh and if all the other tables are having issues as well (half the restaurant was upset with the service tonight) then perhaps you should not be the ones making the shakes. Get the young kid with no customer service at the register to do it. As we were leaving one of the workers went to the register in tears saying that she wished she could transfer her tables to someone else so she could go home. Sorry you’re having a bad day but don’t cry at the register.
Save yourself the trouble and heartache and go somewhere else. Nothing special at this location. Franchise or not you give Steak ‘n Shake a bad name.

Let me start off to please clean the place.
Absolutely awful management. We got served by who it seemed the manager and she was completely rude. First of, She made rush giving her our orders. Secondly, My friends and I were watching a video and we laughed loud. She scolded at us instead of asking us politely to lower our laughs. And then thirdly, the waiter got us the wrong milkshake and then proceeded to go to the kitchen and throw the paper with our order right at the person who was making the shakes.
We always leave tips. But we didn’t after everything. Never coming back here ever again.

Steak and shake being a franchise has generally pretty good food at very reasonable prices. Their hamburgers tend to be very delicious and the price point for the food in general is very reasonable. This location seems to do a fairly good job with the food. Unfortunately the service here is often lacking. Be on the lookout for missed-​placed orders or parts of the food that take longer to get to your table then the rest of your meal.

Where to begin. Let’s just say we waited forever to even get our drinks! And when they finally get to our table they forget to ask us for our drinks. Then ask if we are ready to order after a 20min wait the food comes we request to try the shakes worst mistake ever! We waited another what felt like 30 minutes. The waiter was great but the management and team is awful they just aren’t organized at all didn’t know how to handle all the people waiting to be seated won’t ever go back their again.

The family and I were driving back from Houston and had been in traffic for a minute and my son in law saw the Steak & Shake sign from the freeway and said Hey its happy hour on shakes now, and he doesn’t ask for much so I knew that we needed to get off this freeway and get this man a shake!
I have never been to Steak N Shake, I know we have one that just opened up in my area, but I just haven’t made it yet, I assumed, since it did have a drive thru that it was more like In N Out Burgers, being that its fast food, and burgers & shakes being its thang, so I was shocked to learn that it’s an actually sit down & be sever kind of place. Well alright Steak N Shake, do your thang!
After checking out the menu I went with the Philly Cheese Steakburger, 2 patties with melted cheese & gilled peppers & onions and I paired it up with some cheesy fries. Was this a healthy for me meal, oh hell no, but was this a delish finger licking grubbing meal, hell yes! This burger was perfect, I had been craving a Philly cheese for a while and this hit the spot, and the cheese fries, come on, its French fries covered in melted cheese, what can go wrong there?
And for the shake, because after all that’s why we stopped, I went with the Turtle Caramel Nut, it was a thick hand dipped Milkshake that was topped with chocolate, caramel, whip cream, some nuts and it was soo damn good and I’m really not an ice cream kind of person but Steak N Shake made a fan out of me.
This is a great spot to stop with the family, the prices are budget friendly, service is great and everyone leaves with a smile. Glad my son in law spotted the sign!

This is my second time coming here. The first time my family and I went through their drive-​thru, but then left because their drive-​thru was missing half of their menu. It looked like it had been torn off.
We came back a second time a month later and the menu is STILL MISSING!
You gotta be kidding me!
I asked the employee why and she said «they are working on it»
Well how in the world do you expect to sell your food if you don’t have it displayed? How are we supposed to know what we want?
Also, this is no joke. Their bathroom is a PORT-​A-​POTTY OUTSIDE. You can’t make this stuff up folks.

I give them 1 star only because you must in order to leave a review! Slowest fast food ever. I sat 10 minutes after paying and finally ask for my money back.

Service is horrible. 10 minutes to be seated because tables needed bussing. 10 more minutes for someone to take our order. 10 more minutes before our drink order came. 10 more minutes before food arrived. I don’t know if you’re keeping score but that’s 40 minutes to get food in what is basically a fast food joint. This isn’t our first experience with slow service here. Our last trip was through the drive thru where we ordered 2 milkshakes. 20 minutes we waited for those. The food is good but be sure to block off a good chunk of time, because they don’t get in a hurry.
Update on same visit:
When food came out it was cold. It left a greasy film in my mouth from the congealed fat.
I’m done with this Steak and Shake.

I am so mad. Went through drive through today and when we got our food it was cold. The burgers were mincy tasting and was cold. We all now have stomach queeziness and I haven’t felt like this since i got food poisoning years ago. So mad that they cant take food quality serious! Cold??? Really? I was craving a burger and now im sick! I will never go back to this place because they don’t care about food quality! This is obvious to me! Cold food is not acceptable!

Food is delicious. Service is a hit or miss. A few servers are great. The others… Thumbs down. I love that kids eat free on weekends when adults purchase over eight dollars. Don’t pay for Cajun fries. There is canon season on the table. Shakes are delicious. I love the Nutella shake. Try the pepper sauce on your burger too.

First time here and we were very satisfied! Prices are great and the kids eat free all weekend! The burgers were so delicious and so were the fries! Service was amazing. The place was very clean.
We will be back again!

Food. Good. Fries. Awesome. Shakes are SUPER awesome! The wait was not as long this time seemed a little less hectic even though it was busy. They are still on the reaction of slowness however. With cleaning of tables and they REALLY should get just a bus boy only so the lady that works rhe front registrar can handle seating people and checking them out when ready to leave.
*Steve Irwin Voice* …As I sat at the bar I saw the most amazing thing in sight, out of the woods of the back office a sight of a rare manager species. Creating a symbiotic relationship with the other employees helping them clear and clean tables faster so new guest could sit and not wait till the new moon…
Parmesana and herbs added on fries was pretty good its a newer addition. You can choose cajun and another style of fries.
Employees dont communicate, they don’t say anything when they see someone waiting at front or register. You could probably walk out and they wouldn’t notice because they are slow or lackluster. Was not pleased to see some additudes either. Hello people can see you and hear you if you talk loud enough.
As I sit and continue to eat, oh look people one again standing! The body language is not looking good either and the patience is wearing down slowly on them. Just when I was going to give them a tad if credit.
If the food especially the shakes weren’t so good I wouldnt come back but Ill put it this way its been quite some time that Ive been back and its sad to see not much has changed with how staff handles themselves and work load and organization.

I honestly don’t know why this place got poor reviews, especially since my experience there was great. I went there on a Saturday night, and it was packed with families — but it was expected since kids eat free on weekends. Despite the noise level (which was mostly due to kids), I think the service and food were great. We were seated within 5 mins, and they were quick to take our order. I ordered the Nacho Cheese Double burger and my boyfriend ordered the Cheesy Cheddar burger, with jalapenos added to it. We both got salt & vinegar fries as a side to our meals. The food was delicious and was absolutely great! In addition, we got the Side-​By-​Side Banocolate shake (which is a mix of a banana and chocolate shake). The shake was tasty, and you can definitely taste both the chocolate and the banana (even though the banana was slightly more prominent).
A lot of people on Unilocal complained about the service, but I believe that the waiters/​waitresses did the best they can given that there were packed tables of families with kids. The workers were constantly moving around and making sure the customers (including my boyfriend and me) were okay. Despite the large crowd, we were always asked if the food turned out okay, and if we needed anything. Even though it took a bit longer than expected for our Banocolate shake to come out, we figured it was because the kitchen was a bit behind due to all the orders (which was understandable).
If you want to avoid the crowds of kids, and overall rush altogether, it’s suggested to not go during a weekend and go maybe during a weekday or during lunchtime.
Overall, I highly recommend this place if you want awesome steak burgers (with a nice variety of burgers available) and delicious shakes at a great price! The prices were impressive, especially since you can get a good meals (burger and fries) for $ 3.99, and a shake for under $ 4.

i love the food at steak and shake. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I love it so much, i forget how long the wait is after i’m done eating, and I come back again, like a sucker.
the wait is LONG folks. we’re talking 35+ minutes (consistently) for a burger and fries. i don’t get it! they’ve got about 243 people working in the kitchen and it takes over a half hour for a burger. ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat!
but geez. That royale, that guacamole burger? dang, you got me good.
the drive thru has slightly lower wait times, but only if you don’t have to wait in a mile long line to get to the window.
too many cooks in the kitchen??? lit-​tra-​lee.
