Pappas Seafood House

I haven’t visited this location in probably 20 years, but I had guests in from out of state and always had great experiences there. Their Bloody Mary is quite good; an added boiled shrimp would have been a great addition. I ordered the seafood gumbo and salad from the lunch menu. The Greek salad was not offered as an option yet my waitress offered to bring feta cheese and the Greek dressing to get close. The dressing now is unfortunately little more than plain olive oil; I finished with ranch instead. The seafood gumbo had lots of seafood in it yet an orange coloring and a beefy flavor. Of course things will change over time but I was surprised to see these 2 standbys were included.

Lobster & shrimp salad ($ 21.95), seafood gumbo and shrimp poboy ($ 15.95), Greek salad + shrimp ($ 17.95), Louisiana gumbo and salad. Huge portion, good quality. It was a wonderful lunch after the Space Center.

This is a follow-​up to my last review of a bad experience at one of the Pappas establishments.
I was delighted at the prompt response by the Pappas Family to my concerns. They seem genuinely concerned and protective of their brand as well as the goal to ensure that its patrons receive the very best user experience. This is to be admired. I was asked to re-​visit Pappas and give them another opportunity to shine.
They deserve the same praise in the public manner in which I chose to voice my concerns.
I chose to eat at PAPPADEAUX SEAFOOD KITCHEN 12 109 Westheimer near Dairy Ashford.
The food was excellent (Pasta Mardi Gras and Mixed Seafood Grill) and consistent.
Every employee which I came in contact with greeted my wife and I. They were friendly but not too personal. The staff seemed to be operating under a team leader/​manager who realizes that anything can negatively impact the experience of anyone dining out and they clearly seeked to provide total customer satisfaction.

Donyell — She was friendly and pleasant. She offered my wife and I complimentary soft drinks while we waited for our meal being prepared to go.

Absolutely delicious! Upon entry we were seated promptly and greeted by a friendly and knowledgable server. Our dinner was comprised of a dozen oysters that had an unbelievably awesome sauce, and I got the crispy salmon with octopus and shrimp. Everything was seasoned to perfection! The only complaint I have is regarding my drink, the pink sapphire, it tasted like bitter liquid soap. Other than that, it was great!

Fantastic food!!! I wasn’t expecting much based on the exterior appearance but I was pleasantly surprised! I will definitely be returning soon!

Awesome service, really good food with extremely attentive staff! Kristin was our waiter and she was so courteous as well as her manager Paige! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We come about 2 times per month. Sadly, We have had inconsistent service. The food is always very good, which is why we return. The waiter never brought the desert tray, after asked. No bread was given. Very forgetful. We waited a very long time for our check. We love the Greek salad, and margaritas. This time the service was very poor. We may have to cross this place off our list of restaurants. Very sad.

Oh man how I miss the taste of their crawfish… hands down the best Cajun seasoned crawfish and size I had this entire trip (6times.3weeks)! Stupid papadaux in Denver no longer serves broiled crawfish but their brother resturant in Houston does and it’s so awesome! Unlike Asian crawfish, this place is dry rubbed with lots of Cajun seasoning and kick!

Excellent! From the moment we walked in… Our server was Corey, very polite and attentive. I had the crawfish bisque. Oh my gosh it was superb! Bread warm and crusty with soft butter. My husband had the fried shrimp and said it was delicious.

Let me start by saying that I’m new to the Houston area. For the past couple of months I’ve been trying new places in hopes of finding something unique, and just plain «good».
After a gym workout, I decided to stop by on a whim to grab a bit. I’m sitting here in gym shorts and a sweaty sweatshirt. Looked somewhat upscale, so didn’t know how this would fly. Nobody gave me «that look», in fact, I was seated promptly.
My waitress was warm, friendly, and helpful. Thought I should mention her name was Sarah. She deserves a raise. =)
I ordered the blackened catfish. Appropriately priced. Not afraid to pay a few extra bucks of the food is better than the competition. Food arrived at my table in around 10 minutes, and it was absolutely delicious! Seriously, so good. My compliments to the chef.
I’ll be back here again to try out the rest of the menu!

Delicious! I ate way too much
The calamari was so good and so was the bread and butter. Oprah said we can eat bread again, right? The catfish was good amd they don’t skimp on the loaded baked potatoe. Our waiter was Henry and Henry was awesome! Love this place!

I had to remove a couple of stars due to my lunch experience this afternoon. My brother and I went there for lunch and while the food was amazing as usual our server was not attentive, nor was the service fast as normally is. We waited a while for our food, which I don’t mind. It was around 1:30 so I understand the lunch crowd but the server (which was a young gentleman) did not come to our table and tell us «your order will be out shortly» or «I apologize for the wait» or nothing. I don’t mind waiting but check up on me and let me know something. Just a simple acknowledgement, I realize its not his fault the food took a while and it’s out of his control but I would like to be acknowledged. And when the food finally arrived and he delivered him we did not see him again until it was time for the check. Food was amazing but service was not!

Went last night my sister order the crawfish étouffée and I ordered the Mississippi Catfish. The Catfish was ok nothing spectacular. We always go and do different things. My sister’s étouffée had a weird oder and taste we sent it back. Woke up this morning sick to her stomach from food poisoning.

Excellent service! We got there ten minutes before they were going to close but they still took us, group of 9. We shared our meals and they split it in individual plates.

Let me first start by saying I LOVE PAPPAS SEAFOOD HOUSE AND PAPPADEAUX’S…just NOT this location!
The quality of food at this location is not up to par with other locations I have visited! I love the seafood cobb salad and I get it at least twice a week, albeit not from this location. I always order it to-​go from the Pappas close to my job. This location is closest to my home, so whenever I crave this normally delicious salad, I call it in to pickup from this location, since it’s closer to home. But each time I have called my order in to this location I have been very unsatisfied with the quality of this delicious and expensive salad.
This last time is the absolute last straw and I will never patronize this location again. The salad was missing ingredients, wilted, and had ingredients added that are not supposed to go in this salad! I know what goes in this salad and trust me feta cheese does not! It’s almost as if there was a old Greek salad sitting back in the kitchen and they tried to make it into a cobb. Also the salad didn’t have hardly any spinach or greens in it. I contacted the manager and he advised me he would have someone contact me, no invitation to return the salad! Apparently management nor kitchen staff care about the quality of food, it shows! I will be emailing corporate!

I prefer to come here for their happy hour, otherwise this joint is overrated! Being from Louisiana I am extremely picky about my seafood so this place falls in the ok category for me. The catfish beignets are absolutely outstanding but are only served during happy hour! The shrimp are absolutely flavorless. This place is downright overpriced for their product. I will stick with happy hour.
Table and bar service is wonderful! The staff is always attentive and eager to please.

Ok. So this Pappas whent out of their way to make things right. The management contacted us and apologized. Also sent us a gift card for our troubles. Which was great because due to this kind gesture we were able to have an amazing experience at another Pappas! ;)
So, I’m changing my star rating as it is only fair.

Ok, so first of all we really like Pappas, we love the different locations here and there. We stopped by this one on our way back from Kemah Boardwalk, my husband reallly needed to use the restroom in a bad way. He went over to use it, it was dirty, we figure, hey we’re going to be spending a good amount of money we should be able to request a clean bathroom, I asked our waiter if he could please get someone to clesn the restrooms (because my Husband couldn’t think about ordering with that problem not being resolved) Make a long story short x2 they tell us bathroom is now clean, two times it’s not, i go and check it myself, piss all over toilet. I ask the bussboy to come look st this and help me inspect the toilet– he asks me what’s wrong with it? I show him the piss drops all over– HE STARTS WIPPING IT WITH THE TABLE RAG IN HIS HAND!!! Yuk! I hope he didnt take it back out to the tables! My Husband hows back and checks toilets still not to his satisfaction, can’t use bathroom still. At this point Manager comes to try to help us, and this is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1, offers us apperizer on house, says he’s having bathrooms properly cleaned with bathroom clesner etc, says buss boy is doing it proper, etc. I see both boys coming out of bathroom– laughing. I ask my husband to go and xheck it looks like they finished, Husbandcomws back, piss STILL all over toilets? Nothing cleaned as promised. We just walked out. Not sure if other customers are jist filthy bathroom users or if buss boys are totallynon compliantto orders at all??? What’s going on Pappas? We usually spend $ 100+ dollars at your restaurants and we can’t get clean restrooms? Sadly we didnt get to eat anything since we had to walk out to uñgo find another bathroom! But i appreciate the Managers attempts, however there is a process to actually cleaning a toilet, it involves cleaning and dissinfecting products, these kids that are supposed to be doing this jib have very little idea how to clean apparently. It worries me thst someone would use a table rag to whipe a toilet as well! Jeeeesh!

Stopped by Papa’s while in $
Houston for lunch. Atmosphere is nice with warm friendly service. The wife and I split the special — stuffed flounder. This came with deboned flounder stuffed with crab stuffing and topped with shrimp. Very tasty, would highly recommend, though tribe fish and shrimp were just a touch over cooked. For appetizers we had the house salad (try the Greek dressing — very good) and the fried zucchini. Bothe were delicious. Great place for lunch or even a romantic dinner.

Thanks to Kaylee and Bryce at the bar for an outstanding service, love this place.
I recommend the melts in your mouth Chilean Sea bass.
