Had a pretty bad experience here. My friends and I came here on a Monday after backpacking in Trinity Alps. We arrived a little before 2pm, after the lunch rush, so we thought we’d be served quickly — but no. There were 6 of us, so we weren’t a very large party. We definitely got the impression that the locals were being served first, even people who had arrived after we did. Once we finally ordered, it took a full hour to get our food delivered. The food was just okay. Needless to say, we were very hungry and unhappy. One of our party asked for fresh fries because hers were cold, and they did give her fresh fries for free.

Sad news. We came back to Weaverville to discover the La Grange closed. You can read Sharron Heryford’s obit here:
I haven’t been able to find out if there are any plans to reopen, but if it does it won’t be the same. I’m just blown away.

What a treat. Heading back to Sacramento area from a weekend up the coast to Oregon salmon fishing. We were hungry rolling into town and found this historic café. It was six weeks ago and don’t recall what we ate but remember that it was yummy. Service was good and loved the gold country flavor of the building and town.

I was impressed with the quality of service. We had the small prime rib and the dinner should have included a salad. The prime rib had an excellent flavor. The only smell in the restaurant was of good food. A bottle of good red wine and some prime rib what could be better? If you have room for dessert I would recommend one for two people becaise they are very large and very good.

Fresh, delicious food. The Smoked Chicken Salad was perfection! Be sure to save room for dessert because the bread pudding here is some of the best. A great place to stop on your road trip.

We were very disappointed in this place. We ordered the steamed mussels as an appetizer and they were just ok. They didn’t have very much flavor and there was no bread to go with it. My husband ordered a strip steak medium rare. The steak was poorly seasoned, was cooked medium well and looked more like a rib eye based on the large strip of fat he cut off of it. I ordered the prawns and they arrived cold. There was a pot of cocktail sauce on the plate and a pile of rice pilaf. The prawns were poorly seasoned and slightly overcooked. Service was just ok. We were finished with our meal before the waitress checked on us and refilled our drinks. We were the only table that didn’t get bread and butter. Had our meals been less expensive, I might have given them 3 stars, but each of our entrees were $ 23. The quality of the food did not warrant the price. Good: ambience, selection Bad: overpriced for food quality, poor service, not very good food

Mixed experience. The wine we ordered was supposed to be from Dry Creek Valley, but instead it was from more generic region of north coast. The name of the winery was also different in the wine list. Unfortunately we did not notice until we poured the wine. The owner gave us an «explanation» that the label has changed, but offered no apology or reconciliation. The waitress also told us that the salmon should be wild, but when we insisted she double check, she said it was farmed. The halibut was actually pretty good, but some of the deserts could have been less sweet. It may have been all just set of coincidences, but I felt a sense of misrepresentation, which spoiled otherwise good experience. I would not come back.

Just had a fresh, delicious lunch. I had the spinach salad w/smoked chicken; fresh tender baby spinach tosses w/vinaigrette, craisins, candied pecans & red grapes, topped with house smoked ckn breast, fresh pineapple, strawberries & a lovely hunk of shaft bleu cheese. Hubby had the pastrami sandwich loaded with thin sliced tasty pastrami and black bean chili on the side. If we’re back in Weaverville we’ll definitely be back here

Really good spot for dinner! Went to La Grange Café for dinner when there were about 100 bikers in town and I must say, even though I was expecting the service to be slow, my girlfriend and I still received above average service. The food was delicious and not too overpriced. We shared the cheese bread while I got a buffalo burger with fries and my girlfriend got the fish and chips. I intend on coming back to Weaverville and when I do there will likely be another visit to this delightful establishment.

The sawmill in town took me there for lunch. Very good food, fast service, with a country type atmospher that I like.

This was the best restaurant that we tasted in the USA since we arrived 2 weeks ago. The sandwiches and salad are very nice and the buffalo burger is amazing.

Friendly staff met us right when we walking in from a long day in the mountains. Asiago cheese bread was a tasty start to our meal. Good wine list and meals and salads stellar

I need to lighten it up a bit. This is an anticipatory review. I’ve eaten supper at the La Grange thrice now, on my way to or from points in the Trinity Mountains or whilst taking the back way from Weed to avoid the forest fires on the thoroughfare. Weaverville is an interesting little town. I don’t know why I think it a bigger Hayfork, because I’ve never been to Hayfork. I did meet a lady from Hayfork once but that’s another story entirely and I won’t tell it here. Maybe because 299 is to the Hayfork Road like an artery is to a capillary, blood vessels of different sizes but all feeding the same meat, has something to do with the comparisons. The La Grange is on 299 in the three block or so old town part of Weaverville, all set in history and stuff. It has a front room with the place to wait and the bar where you can eat too and some tables and a more formal though not really formal at all dining room off to the left as you come in. The space is wood and other mountain accouterments type décor all warm and welcoming. As I’m always alone I prefer the bar, with its bustle and prettiness, a fine place for a single fellow to watch a ball game, have a pint or four, indulge in the variety that is their deliciousness. I’ve dined on buffalo burgers and meatloaf and salads and soups. Certainly but a sampling of what they offer, but with equal certainty absolute and reliable goodness. I plan my trips around supper at the La Grange. I’ll be there this Monday coming, in fact, taking a break from a thousand mile tour of northern California. If you meet me, I’ll buy all your beer. I will too. Because I’m all celebratory like that.

A recent review mentions great Eggs Benedict?! La Grange doesn’t even serve breakfast? …Waitstaff can leave much to be desired & you might have to endure an unwanted table visit from a very much buzzed business owner… but, overall… Great food IS coming out of this kitchen(IF Chef G is cooking ;). Enjoy

My absolute favorite place in Trinity County for Sunday brunch. The price is amazing for the all you can order & eat off the menu. Their eggs benedict is amazing as well as most of their other foods. They also offer buffalo burgers & sweet potato fries with peanut sauce! I don’t think I can complain as their food is so savory & leaves me bloated by the time I leave. The interior reflects Weaverville’s gold mining past well, very old school which I liked. When I do come back to the Ville, I’ll definitely be coming back for some brunch!

Came through this town of Weaverville late Sunday afternoon on the way back from the coast and we were hungry. Unfortunately most all the shops were closed in town and we started to stroll around and one shop was open and she told us about this place next door so we came in here for a quick bite to eat. There a was a menu in the window and looked like we would find something each of us would like so we went in. The lady promptly told us it was too early for dinner but the lunch menu was still good. They have a nice bar along one wall and we decided instead of being all alone in the dinning room we would just take a table in the bar. The service was great and we ordered an appetizer of fried artichoke hearts which was WAY bigger than I expected and quite yummy with blue cheese dressing for dipping. I really didn’t need the salad I ordered and ended up bring most of it home. It was a spinach salad with blue cheese, blueberries, pineapple, candied pecans and was wonderful. My husband had one of their burgers and sweet potato fries and was fully satisfied after so all in all a good place to stop in for a drink or bite to eat if you happen to be coming through town or live up this way.

The La Grange wasn’t in Weaverville during many of the years that I lived there, but I’m always excited to visit when I’m back in town. The interior, as others have mentioned, highlights Weaverville’s past of gold mining and timber days, while the food highlights the future of Wvvl as a place to get away from the world. I hope the La Grange is around for a long time to come!

Our group of about 20 or more came into La Grange after a long motorcycle ride up Hwy 1 and through the Trinity Alps from Sonoma County. Needless to say, food was very much on everyone’s mind and the staff were surprisingly able to juggle our complicated network of tickets while also getting the dishes out in a reasonable amount of time for the magnitude of orders. Kudos to the great wait staff who could still hold a smile on their face! Our meal was great. I ordered the Champagne Chicken which had mushrooms and was on top of a bed of angel hair pasta, delicious! My boyfriend thought I was joking when I told him I wouldn’t share, he was wrong. He on the other hand ordered a burger with fries, pretty standard but pleasantly fulfilling after a long day. Two others at our table ordered what they described as the«plate o’ meat» which had pork shoulder, beef brisket and another, with beans and cole slaw. They were very pleased with their portions for $ 17. This place has a seasonal menu so you may or may not be fortunate enough to get the same selections, but rest assured you will be satisfied!

Weaverville’s old west style main street is very inviting and, during the holidays, the multi-colored lights adorning the LaGrange Café make it just about impossible to avoid going in for a meal. I ordered two small mahi mahi tuna tacos that were average, at best, but there were other more basic choices on the menu that I may have found more satisfying. While my meal wasn’t memorable, LaGrange’s saloon interior was wonderful and I was glad to spend some time here taking it all in before I continued my soggy drive to the coast.
