We stayed four nights here early in January. The temps were bitterly cold, but our room was warm, clean, and comfortable. It is an older motel, but is well kept, and we were generally pleased. The bed was soft but we slept good, and the heater worked well. Our room had a nice flat-screen TV with basic cable channels. We walked everywhere — to coffee shops, restaurants, and several breweries in downtown Waynesville. Nice proximity. The owners were accommodating when we decided to change our plans. We were however somewhat taken aback by several comments about Asheville and minorities made by one of them.

This is a great place to stay depending entirely on your objectives for lodging in Waynesville. Traveling by motorcycle, we wanted a place in downtown so we could walk to the shops and restaurants, have dinner(and a glass of wine or beer) and not have to get back on the bike. We did not need or want a room to hide away for the weekend. We like that we could park our motorcycle right outside our room — as did the half dozen other motorcyclists that happened to be staying there for essentially the same reason. The motel is a step back in time, what I respectfully label a «mom-and-pop» hotel, with the owners serving as the host and clerk. The rooms are clean and look as if they did in the 60’s, pastel colored tile bathrooms, etc., but everything works. It was a little steeper at $ 79 for two on a Saturday night in Sept 2013 than I thought it would be for its age and lack of air conditioning, but like with all real estate, the location made the price acceptable. There are really no less expensive options In he downtown area, the hosts are very welcoming. There is a little wooded picnic area in the middle of the parking lot that’s inviting for guests. I’d recommend it to friends and plan to go back — though I will check the temperature if I should go in the summer months.

Great little place to stay. Not the Hilton, but nice and clean. Carolyn & Rick were very hospitable, and knowledgeable about the area and where to fish. Great weekend, and I would go back in a heart beat to stay!
