I remember when they opened the food was great, here lately things seem to have went downhill.

Stay away. Keep driving. You aren’t that hungry yet. You never will be. I know that by-the-pound takeaway from a buffet is a bad idea, but it was the only«Chinese» restaurant in town, so I ignored my good sense and went for it. It’s not easy to find meat on this buffet. It’s not easy to find vegetables on this buffet. It is, however, easy to find greasy food, and to pay $ 25 for two containers of what you didn’t want to eat in the first place. They do have pizza with the cardboard crust, and soggy fries, but if that’s what you’re in the mood for, why would you visit a «Chinese» restaurant in the first place? (I always put«Chinese» in quotes here because I lived in China for 6 years. You won’t find what they’re serving here in that fine country.)

Wow, went twice to this place with my G/F. First time about 3 months ago and it was so so. The egg rolls and spring rolls could not be chewed or eaten. They are rolled up in a very tough full cabbage leaf! Never saw anything like it! Hard to screw up an egg roll! The other food seemed re-fried and over salted! The meatballs were as hard as tennis balls! Thought maybe just an off night or something! Went for an early Easter lunch the second time! Was worse than the first time! Everything seemed re-fried and buried in soy sauce. We both went home and both our stomachs were upset! Wasn’t good at all and even the take out was taken from the buffet rather than freshly made. They are very nice people but there will not be a third time there unless they make some BIG changes… Sorry to leave such a review but horrible Chinese food!

Went here on 9÷10÷14 it cost about 29 dollars for two adults and a 4 year old(lunch time), the only thing good about this place was the waiter, the sprite didn’t even taste like sprite, it tasted like some off brand… fried chicken in sushi! I felt so sick for hours after eating here! The lady at the register was abrupt and rude, like paying her for your food was interrupting her day.

No Garden, No Happy, –i do not trust the food… — And will not return for all the tea in Carolina :(-Food is so-so, at best and maybe BAD, not worth the risk. to be fair & show another side: I know someone who says New Happy Garden Restaurant has vegetarian choices & good BUTONLY, if you ask! Only freshly prepared food. Watch out for 6 different kinds of MSG! In many restaurants nowadays, YIKES! –some people I know are taken to hospital w/any MSG :(Eek! Methinks not.

The food was good-great bread pudding. nice surprise for a Chinese restaurant! However. the spring rolls and egg rolls were horrible-probably sat out all day! And when they were out of bread pudding(which was almost gone when I got there 30 mins prior to when I got there) and I mentioned it to the waiter. he said it would be 30 – 40 minutes! At a buffet! –update…went back on a Friday night… they have a problem keeping up with the customers. Everything I wanted they were out of. It’s was good-if it was there. Still bad egg and spring rolls, And when we got there the bread pudding looked like it was there all day. Ick.

New Happy Garden’s Chinese Buffet delivers variety but fails on freshness. Dishes have been left to sit and stew for far too long(in some cases, food had actually hardened and«set up»). Too bad. Because the items that did come out fresh were pretty tasty… UPDATE: Last time we went, we got sick.

I’ve lamented previously about my disillusionment with Chinese buffet. New Happy Garden is one of the few Asian buffets I’ll voluntarily visit. Don’t take that as a massive compliment, though. Yes, their food is pretty good.(The rest of my family, who doesn’t suffer from my terrible plight, says it’s amazing.) But the sushi counter is a bit iffy. The first time I checked out the sushi counter, it was pretty good. On my last visit about a month ago, I wasn’t entirely sure how old the sushi was, but it wasn’t as decent as it should have been. The pickled ginger was even slightly discolored… I don’t know what it takes to screw up ginger, but good grief. Come on! They have an interesting variety of fruits on the buffet(lychee has been among them, and it’s the only buffet I’ve been to that offers exotic fruits like that), and they have other dishes that aren’t frequent buffet-fare, either. I’m not crazy about the desserts; like so many buffet offerings, the pastries are dry and stiff. They do, in fact, offer ice cream — it just isn’t soft-serve. Look for the little freezer in the right hand corner. One thing I’ve never had a problem with at New Happy Garden is service. The wait staff is very kind, and they tolerate loud, rowdy groups.(Not that we are ever particularly obnoxious… it just seems like any time I go somewhere with my mother, we spend the entire meal howling.) As previously stated, New Happy Garden also has nearly an entire row of American«comfort foods» and«safe staples,» like mac and cheese and pizza. There may even have been tacos the last time I was there. I can’t vouch on the quality of these things, because I never eat them. tl;dr: Sniff your sushi, expect better-quality buffet food that’s still buffet-food quality, enjoy unfamiliar dishes, the wait staff is friendly, your mac-and-cheese-only kid can still eat.

Come hungry and wear your stretchy pants — New Happy Garden has the buffet to end all buffets. Food is spread out across six buffet stations and a sushi counter. I loaded up with orange chicken, rice, California rolls, beef and broccoli, eggrolls, and loads of other foods. Seriously, loads. Chinese food not really your thing? There’s also a wide array of fresh fruits and veggies, comfort-foods like mac and cheese, and even pigs-in-a-blanket(love!) From the start, I couldn’t wait to get to the dessert buffet: puddings, ice cream, cookies, petit fours, and on and on. I dove in with gusto. I have no shame when it comes to buffets — especially dessert buffets. While buffets are, by definition, self-serve, our server did an impeccable job bringing out beverages for our group of fifteen. Our entire group left sated and satisfied.
