Twisted Frog

The feel of the place is not bad… a combination of old Waxahachie mixing with the new. I liked that. Our table was covered with some black plastic feeling material that felt sticky. I let that slide… it may have been just the material but it kept sliding off the table. That was annoying.
The gal came from behind the bar and handed us our menus along with a filthy paper menu.
It is Friday and on the chalkboard there is an all you can eat catfish special which we both ordered along with poppers. After 20 minutes we received the fish. We were then told that someone forgot to cook our poppers and wanted to know if we wanted them anyway. We declined.
The basket contained 2 pieces of fish and some fries. The fish batter was cooked nice and crispy but the texture was not consistent. One piece of fish the batter was smooth and thin, the other looked more chicken fried and thicker. Ok that is still no big deal.
The thinner part of the meat was pretty good but once you got into the thicker part of the filet it had a raw fishy smell/​taste to it.
This is an all you can eat… right? I ordered two more pieces of fish which was one piece more than I could eat. I don’t like doing that because I hate wasting food. The owner came to our table and chastised me for not eating the last piece! Then he brought some of their «special sauce» that they make there. He said it was good on everything and to try it with some fries. I picked up a fry and there was some kind of black stuff on it. I did find another fry to try the sauce and it was good.
During the meal they brought my husband another beer without being prompted to do so. They tried that with me and I declined. When I was paying the check the waitress took my husbands unfinished beer.
To sum things up:
Liked:
The building/​place. For me it did not have a «sports bar» feel to it… just a bar type atmosphere.
Waitress was nice but seemed inexperienced.
Music
Yellow orange sauce tasted nice. Good flavor up front with a little heat
Disliked:
Attitude of «bar gal» who took our order. She appeared to care less if we got something to eat
Same person will try to keep feeding you beer if you ask for it or not.
REALLY DO NOT LIKE being chastised about not eating my last piece of fish.

Table cloth slides too easy and felt sticky.
We won’t be back primarily because of «attitude».
