We eat at Tuscan Slice probably twice a month. They also catered our daughter’s wedding reception, so you know we love them! However, the restaurant was better when Jonathan was here(he and his brother were co-owners, but J. left for CA). Since he left, they seem to be struggling, specifically the servers. There are always several workers present, but since I consistently see un-bussed tables and diners waiting on their food /bar drinks, something is amiss. The food is consistently good, especially the wood fired steak(w/vesuvio sauce) and the pizzas– Italian meat pizza and the s’mores dessert pizza top the list. They also carry a nice nitrite-free wine(Natura) that we always order. Cindy is one of the managers and she is so sweet! She always comes by each of the tables to check on the diners. I hope they get the server thing figured out.

Food has become inconsistent and the help is deteriorating. It was once our families favorite place to go. Now none of us want to go there anymore.

I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of my sister and cussed her out after I ate here. Folks in Waxahachie deserve more than this crap pretending to be Italian food. Pizza: every ingredient tasted frozen or out of a can. The Italian sausage In particular taste like a brown paper bag. Salad: once again all the toppings were canned(chic peas, black olives, etc). I question how fresh the lettuce was… Salmon: the fishiest smelling fish I’ve smelled in a long time. DEFINITELYFROZEN! Bruchetta: who can eff up Bruchetta? This place can. Cocktails: mehhh Go to Olive Garden instead.

We’ve been here many times, and have loved every dish. I would suggest the Calamari and the Cannelloni.

Great food served in large portions with great atmosphere. Meals start with wood fired bread that is far from the standard chain restaurant forgettable bread that you are inflicted with at other places. Great texture and flavor that compliments the meal and appetizers to follow. I ordered the Tuscan Trio and my father had the eggplant parmesan. Both had to take home much of what came out as the portions were massive. My father throughly enjoyed his and mine was spectacular with the cheese sauce browned on top from its time in the oven. The flavors are well developed and service was good. Do yourself a favor and eat here before wasting money at the Olive Garden or some other cookie cutter«Italian» restaurant.

We came on a Saturday night at about 6, and the wait was a little long. Other than that I really enjoyed it. The restaurant is super cute, and you can’t beat a giant wood burning stove. I went with my mom, sisters, and niece and nephew. The kids pizzas are actually amazing! They get to hand roll them and make them how they want. We shared the Italian meat pizza, and I got a cup of the soup of the day. Don’t miss their soup! I had the chicken sausage chowder and it was so yummy! The only thing that was great is the panzanella salad, which was just a salad with croutons. Overall I’ll for sure come here again when I’m in the area.

I’ve had a few dishes here and they were good but you can’t beat the pizza! We usually stick to the Italian Meat. Kathryn was our server today and she was a delight!

Service fails again. The food is respectable, however, service can hit and miss. Most recent whiff was epic in proportion and I won’t return any time soon. With more staff than customers, I don’t understand how disappearing server issues transpire, but dude pulled it off. Slow from the start and consistently slow to the end without an explanation for the delay because he was never there to answer the question(s). Manager intervened but failed to mollify. When will Waxahachie learn to stop going here?

My hubby and I came here the other day with one of our good friends. They had recommended this spot and frequently visit for lunches and dinners. We were warmly welcomed and seated without a wait. Our waiter must have been new, because he didn’t know some of the questions we asked(soup of day, specials, etc.). The hubby and I split the entrée Ceaser salad(it was cheaper that way) and I got the spinach and chicken manicotti and the hubs got the lasagna. Our entrees were delicious, but the best part of our meal was the bread! So good! This is a little bit of a drive from Dallas, but if we are in the area we will definitely come back.

If I could have given half of a star I would. I am from out of town and decided to stop by for a brief lunch. Worst decision of today. The service was on the slower side and then we were seated back-to-back with the kitchen. The salad that I ordered had quite a few wilted, slimy leaves. I became full quite quickly. On top of this, I started to feel these tiny droplets land on my shoulder. I soon found out there was a water leak right above me. Nice. We did make the waitress aware of this and she very politely apologized and offered complimentary dessert. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience.

What an awesome experience at Tuscan Slice in Waxahachie. Ordered the Lady Margherita pizza with meatballs and MAMAMIA! Very tasty! Very authentic! I was born in Roma, Italia and it is hard to find good authentic Italian food. The service was excellent and the prices very reasonable. Tuscan Slice can expect a return visit from this paisan.

Such a nice experience! Sat at the bar and Sam was my server/bartender. He gave me very descriptive and helpful suggestions for food and wine. The chicken saltimbocca was wonderful and a plentiful serving. They garlic bread they give you is very good as well. Such an unexpected and pleasant dinner. Highly recommended!

Great restaurant! My initial visit, I ordered the eggplant parmesean, it was superb. My recent visits there have been for the tomato basil soup, oh God this soup is heaven. The clam chowder is also one of my favorites. I always always call to find out what soup is being served for that day, due to it changing almost daily.

We had a change of plans to our original lunch plans this weekend because of a flat tire incident outside of Corsicana, TX. Our original destination was south west of Dallas but we were going to drive in to Dallas to meet up with some friends. But the tire incident forced to go straight into our Southwest destination. After dropping a couple hundred bucks on a new tire and going to discount tire to get a replacement tire for the one that blew we looked on Unilocal and found The number two rated at the time restaurant in Waxahachie, Texas. It was past normal lunch hours so we were seated right away and the restaurant was not very busy at all. Our waiter was very friendly and very helpful on helping us decide what we wanted to order off of the menu. He recommended for me and my wife the Italian meat pizza and for the boys to build their own pizza. After he took our drink orders he said he’d come back with some bread and the drinks, which he never did come back with any bread. For some reason even though the restaurant was virtually empty, the service was kind of slow especially since we were one of only five or six tables. Once the food arrived it was without a doubt one of the best pizzas we have ever had. My wife also made that comment which is a big deal since she loves pizza. For some reason our boys pizza didn’t come out the same time as ours so we had to ask for their pizzas, since it wasn’t our waiter that brought us the food but instead it was another waiter who was helping out at the time. When I’m back in Waxahachie I will definitely be coming back here to eat some more pizza, and I would highly recommend you do the same

Honestly I think some of these reviewers must be relatives of the owners. Best Italian place in two counties??? Really??? Dallas area must be hurting for Italian restaurants. Yea, it has a pretty funky/cool décor. And the kids making their own pizza thing at the table next to us was very cool. Their wines by the glass were reasonably priced with a decent little selection. And the service was fantastic especially our waitress Katy. Those were all good things. Went there tonight with a party of 10 Pretty much everybody had something different. In our experience the food was hit or miss. The people that had the pizza said it was really good. I tasted a slice and I agree… it was great! The two people that had the lasagna said it was real good. The person that had the Ribeye Steak special was impressed. My Veal Marsala? The Breaded Veal was over cooked. The breading was crunchy and overly browned and the veal dried out. The person that had the Fettuccine Alfredo said it was OK but nothing to write home about. All in all I would consider the place on par with a Olive Garden food wise if you ignore the pizza which is better than any chain pizza place and most pizza places in general. Olive Garden is probably a little more consistent across the board food wise(on the dishes beyond the pizza) but Tuscan Slice has way more character. I think the Pizza’s are probably the thing that sets them apart due to the wood fired oven. By no means would I call it bad but this place is not worth the rave reviews. The best is probably the pizza and the cool thing they do with letting the kids make their own pizza. Beyond that it is hit or miss, good and not so good. Way i see it everybody could probably find something they liked here, but they might have to go a couple times to find what they like best. For example, I would not order their breaded veal again but I bet I could find something I liked. It just might take me a couple tries and I suspect it would be the pizza in the end. So I gave it a 3. I really would say 3.5 but I can’t give a 3.5 and I think 4 is too high. Pretty good place but certainly not outstanding. If I was just reviewing it as a pizza place it would be a 4+. I would go back, but I can’t imagine this is the best Italian place in the county, much less two counties.

Finally stopped in after years of hearing about Tuscan Slice! We were able to call in Saturday evening and put our names on the list. I received a text that our table would be ready in ten minutes and, as we pulled into the parking lot eight minutes later, I received the confirmation that our table was ready for our group of three. Our waiter started us off with glasses of water, and did an awesome job of refilling my glass 14 times while I was eating. You see, I just came from a full 90 degree day in the sun at the Scarby Renaissance Festival and I was freakin’ thirsty. The pies were a bit pricy, so we split the Alfredo pizza. This was not my first choice, but the chicken, mushrooms, and spinach toppings were delicious. I would love to stop back by next season and order their Garden Mediterranean or Lady Margherita pizzas.

My wife and I stopped by for Lunch a couple of days ago. I ordered the Lasagna and my wife had a Pasta dish. Most people have an understanding that Lasagne is wide, flat-shaped pasta. The word«lasagne» can also refer to a dish made with several layers of lasagne sheets alternated with sauces and various other ingredients. The Lasagne I received at the table had one thick(about one inch wide) around the outside edge of the plate. Inside was meat, on top was some cheese and some meat sauce. No pasta in layers, etc. Nothing of what one would expect concerning Lasagna. My Diet Coke was flat.(no C02) The bread they brought to the table was soaking wet with grease.

Best Italian food in Ellis County and maybe Tarrant County, too(outside of Piccolo Mondo, of course). The wait can be a bit long on Friday and Saturday night but it’s worth it. For an appetizer, I recommend getting the house wine(ha, an appetizer) and the marinara sauce to dip your complimentary bread in. For a main dish, the pastas are amazing, lasagna is stupendous and the pizza is awesome. There isn’t a bad dish in the menu. I’m not a huge fan of their house salad dressing but their homemade ranch I to die for. One of the best I’ve had. They also offer a few organic options, especially with chicken dishes. I would give them 6 stars if I could. It’s my favorite restaurant in the area. Nothing comes close.
