Hastings Books Music & Video

My husband and I love Hastings. They always have great deals on movies, books and music. Plus they have a great café inside with drink specials.
This is always a dangerous trip inside, as we always buy way more than intended. Unilocal adds to this madness with their $ 5 off coupon for a purchase over $ 20.
We will be back the next time we are in the area. This is a well organized store which makes the experience that much better :)

We were in the Hastings store in Waxahachie, TX today. This sign was posted all over the book section. My son picked 3 books. When we got to the register the total did not add up correctly. The girl who checked us out said the sign said buy one get the 2^nd for a dollar. I went and got a sign and showed her. She said «what they meant was buy one get the 2^nd for $ 1 not get 2 for a $ 1». I told her that wasn’t what the sign said and asked if she would honor the sign. She said no. When I asked for a manager she said she was one. Her name tag said «shift lead». I might could have dealt with this if she wasn’t so extremely rude about it. I handed her my purchases and left. Do stores no longer honor their own advertisements or only what they «meant»??? They have definitely lost my business.

Make sure you have your actual card… or your husbands drivers license number memorized!
I have been shopping and (over paying) for dvd’s at this store for years! I’ve always loved the fact that even though extremely overpriced, I could shop for movies, books, eclectic music all at once. I went in on December to rent a dvd 3.99 a night if you don’t bring it back the next day (then you get a 2.99 credit for future movie rentals) I drove 20+ minutes to the store location. Store was empty as usual, come to the register and realized I brought the wrong set of keys that had my Hastings membership scan card on it. I realized this and appreciated the fact that I would possibly have to show my id, (as the account was set up in my husband’s name, but I was listed as a user) fyi we have the same last name. When asked to see my card I apologized offered my id and asked her to look it up. She did so said I was on the account but even though she had my id my account pulled up and the fact that I have been in there a million times unless I had my husbands drivers license number memorized and could recite it to her she would be unable to help me. At first I laughed and asked her if she could remember her own drivers license number let alone her spouses. She told me I could be any Mindy and I could be posing as Mindy to try and get a movie rental. Talk about a future in the CIA. She seemed unamused and told me she wouldn’t be able to help me and handed me back my id. I was so upset, mad and ready to get a manager, yet I had my daughter with me and thought it best to just leave and cool off and call later. As I left I realized indeed a manager and other staff had witnessed the transaction and thought it was humorous. I left and later called and talked to the manager on duty a female and she said she didn’t know why I couldn’t rent a movie and lightly apologized because viewing my account there would be no reason to not grant me access to rent a movie. Her answer was just to trek back 20 minutes and she would make sure I could rent this time! The whole joke is… anyone can have a Hastings keychain and scan it and the cashier really has no way of knowing who the person holding the key chain is. I have and ID and have been a loyal customer. I could easily go and rent a $.99 movie from red box. I talked to corporate as well, was told it would be looked at and I would get s call back. Never did. Will never shop at Hastings as long as I draw air! No wonder your company is having so many financial issues. You lost a very loyal costumer who spent WAY too much money in your store.

We love having a Hastings in town. We mainly rent movies from here since you get credit for bringing them back early. Our son likes to shop for books and small toys here as well.

While I think they have a good selection of books & prices, there is NO seating. When asked about it, staff was rude. I was not allowed to go into coffee shop with unpaid merchandise. To me a book store should be a relaxing store. I want to look at a book to see if I truly want to purchase it & sit down while looking at it. This totally missed the mark!

I love that I can walk into a place, grab a book, a coffee and just chill. I also love that I can hangout there and check my email on my laptop… its all good at that place!
