Went here for lunch on a Saturday at about 2:30PM. Had a Cajun Chicken Salad and it was great. Great service, awesome food. Would return when I am back in town.

Had lunch here the other day. Good was delicious. Service was exceptional. I buoyed the broiled salmon which was fresh and cooked exactly as I like it. My friend had the Reuben sandwich and enjoyed it too! He also had 2 lemon squares for dessert and raved about it. Will definitely be back!

Nice people. Go next door to 18 Below and have better food. This place wants to be unique and succeeds. I don’t care and would rather have a gourmet burger at a Red Robin’s if they had any in Maine. So for the experience itself, this restaurant is very good and attracts people without issue. The food is properly prepared and priced. The bar has your drink and an assortment of craft beer. My wife chose dessert(we always share) so instead of just her being disappointed we both were. She still can’t choose a good dessert. For some reason I kept feeling that a harpist would set up and play at any minute. That would have been cool. I don’t see myself volunteering for more time in Waterville as a choice. Come on, two dollar stores side by side and the only place seeing action past, «suppah?»

What disappoints me about The Last Unicorn is that I didn’t find it sooner. I have been traveling to this part of Maine for years, and stay in Waterville frequently. There are a lot of great, fun restaurants in this area, but this one is top-notch. Being named after one of my favorite movies doesn’t hurt either! Located in downtown, there is no parking on this street. However, there is a lot of parking easy walking distance. Waterville has a convenient parking set up that keeps you central to almost anywhere you would want to visit in downtown. We started our evening off with wine, cocktails, and appetizers. The selection is solid and the staff is knowledgeable. We enjoyed the baked brie, especially that it arrived with melon, kiwi, grapes, and apples, along with bread. The hot wings were good, too, well-flavored and battered, but not too salty. They were served with both celery and carrots to offset the flavor. My pasta dish with local sausage was delicious. It had a perfect balance of flavors with hot, while al dente, fettucine. My companions enjoyed their dinners, too: eggplant parmesan and lamb chops. Both looked delicious, and given the lack of leftovers, were. We rounded off the evening sharing a lemon bar and drinking coffee. Everything was great. The service was spot on, not too clingy, but checking in with us at just the right time. Everything is cooked here, not pre-made, so it may take a bit longer than chain restaurants, but it certainly isn’t slow. The ambience of the restaurant makes for an enjoyable, relaxing meal with friends.

Went December 292015 for dinner with the in-laws. The food was AMAZING! I had the scallops with spinach bacon and mushrooms, the house salad and Brussel sprouts. I don’t remember ever clearing plate like I did at this restaurant. I had no room for dessert but a few of the family members at the table did, so I tried a bite of each and WOW! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Took my girlfriend for an anniversary meal and the food was good my meal was amazing, hers left just a little more to be desired but was still good! I had the sautéed chicken breast with basil bread pudding, and my girlfriend got the spiced chicken breast sandwich with Brie and bacon. The sandwich was supposed to have a peach chutney but they were all out so it was a rich sandwich with nothing on it to clean the pallet. It seemed a bit lazy being a line cook myself at a busy restaurant it doesn’t fly to not prep enough to get through a service. That all being said the last unicorn is a terrific place with upper class food. I have been going since I was a kid when my uncle was a cook on the line there. I would definitely recommend to anyone who understands quality food made be cooks that clearly know what they are doing!

We stopped in here on our way to Bar Harbor and I was pleasantly surprised. This place is cozy and the staff is nice, though they could have been more attentive. We had to ask for silverware after the food was delivered and it took at least 30 minutes to get our appetizer and 45 minutes to get our salads even though the place was mostly empty when we walked in. Had I been having dinner with friends i wouldn’t have really cared, but our family was anxious to get back on the road so it was a little stressful. Still, the food was yummy and I liked the atmosphere so I would give it another try.

In Waterville for a few hours and wanted to try something different, so it made sense to check out this brilliant and unique place. After looking at the menu we quickly settled on their Famous Cheese Dip as an appetizer and the Asiago Crusted Scallops. The dip was pretty good. The cheese was warm and interesting, and the bread was crunchy and soft in the middle. The scallops, though, were absolutely brilliant. Cooked perfectly and they did nothing but melt in my mouth. The asiago cheese crust was a great addition to the texture and added a pop of saltiness to each bite. I’d give it five stars but the service gave much to be desired. Food took awhile, water not filled often, had to ask for silverware/napkins, server forgot a few other things. Will definitely be back and update if the wait was just having an off night.

Very pleasant little spot. We got hungry and left I95 and found this place. They had a great corned beef sandwich and African spice lamb burger. The prices were reasonable and the outdoor tables enabled us to bring our parrot in her cage to sit by us. The wait staff was delightful and the iced tea was delicious and plentiful.

Stopped here for a late lunch to break up a 5-hour drive from The Forks back to Rhode Island based on all the positive Unilocal reviews. Oh my God try the cheese dip! But don’t try to order a big meal afterwards like we did. Instead try one of their yummy salads and a draft beer, wine or martini. We got there between lunch and dinner so they didn’t have any specials available, but they looked great. They also had a lovely patio for eating outdoors. Definitely worth a side trip!

We both had the salmon dinner with asparagus and salad with homemade blue cheese dressing. Fresh fish with a Thai dipping sauce. Really, really tasty. We’ll be definitely coming back!

It has changed a little. We always bragged about anyone heading that way to go. We went last week, and found the dining room not as cleaned as remembered and the menu seemed smaller so variety seemed a bit less. We enjoyed the cheese dip, but it wasn’t as remembered being exciting to find this diamond in the rough.

The most exquisite, unique gourmet food around! Never dissappointed! A little pricey but so worth it. Famous for their green goddess dressing. Take some home! Casual setting with VERY classy creative chefs!

Relatively expensive for the quality of food. Could be more choices of dishes. The salmon tastes fresh and good. A little bit too noisy.

I wanted to love The Last Unicorn based on the reviews, but I have to say that it didn’t live up to my expectations. The food was just OK overall. We ordered the shrimp sub, sweet potato curry soup, and a meager $ 8 green iceberg salad. The shrimp sub had an interesting flavor with mango and crunchy topping, but the bread overwhelmed the sandwich. Yes, the soup was good(but spicy!), and the Green Goddess dressing was the highlight, but the experience was tainted by lackluster service.

The food was amazing. Our party had the Crispy Thai Sea Bass, the Lobster linguine and a salmon dish. All came out hot and tasty with awesome flavor. Generous portions. And the deserts, a chocolate torte and a coconut cream pie that were perfect. This place will now be added to our favorite restaurants in Waterville short list, which includes Pad Thai Too and the Fireside Steak House, for«special occasions».
