The service was A+ no wait for a table and we got our drinks fast which was good because we needed our caffeine fix. The coffee was perfect and our server was on point. The reason for the three stars is the food just wasn’t that good I really wished it was because I really wanted to give this place 5 stars for the staff and ambiance. This is only the 2nd place I’ve eaten at since moving to Watertown and after a horrible customer service experience last night I was extremely grateful to see that this is not the norm.

Up in Watertown doing the college end-of-year pick up and decided to keep it local and try out a diner for breakfast. After a long haul and all the fast food along the way I really wanted some fresh cooked food, not food that’s been sitting under a heating lamp for«x» number of hours. Shorty’s didn’t disappoint. A real diner experience– coffee served up fast and continual top offs(big plus for coffee lovers like me), waitresses that address you as honey(so cute), fresh cracked eggs(not the crappy stuff others serve from a carton) and a full female cook staff you can see in action if you sit at the counter —(-: overall a good spot for breakfast if you’re in the area and want something other than Cracker Barre. l

I tried Shorty’s for the first time because one of my friends went and said that it was pretty good. When I arrived at 7AM, I walked right in and sat at the bar. The restaurant was old school diner themed with Coca-Cola brand throughout the place. I thought it was really cute and I liked the atmosphere. Joanne, my waitress greeted me instantly and took my order. I got the Big Breakfast Platter. It was delicious and the hot chocolate with whip cream topped it off. The food was delivered to me really fast. They were not high in price at all and I will definitely go back for breakfast in the future.

Our first trip to this local diner, and a very disappointing experience. In fact, if I could give this zero stars, I would. Overall, the biggest issue is the customer service. It’s terrible. As a former manager of a business, I understand how important customer service is to your brand and to build relationships and gain repeat customers. From the first moment we walked in the door, we were treated like we were not important, and the duties the servers had, and their personal conversations, held higher value than us. We were seated, and it took at least 10 minutes before the server came to us to ask for our drink order. The diner was not busy, and there were plenty of staff, but they focused their time/energy on personal conversations behind the counter, which were loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear. Next, when our food was delivered, our server Julia brought it to the table with another server, and I kid you not, as they were standing over us at the table placing our food, they were bickering out loud. Not only was this in front of us and over our food, but there were other customers around. It was rude and unprofessional. At no point during the food delivery, or in the next 15 minutes, were we offered refills on our coffee, or checked on to see if we needed anything else. But then, the best part of this. We decide that we are done, having not been offered additional coffee, not liking our food(it was bleh), and being completely ignored, so we head to the front to pay. Julia, our server met us up there, and proceeded to run my card for the check. After watching her for several moments insert my card, remove it, insert it, remove it, I asked what was going on, and she said«I accidentally charged you the wrong amount because I didn’t apply the military discount, so I need to refund and recharge.» I asked for a copy of all the receipts, including the refund, just in case. She provided to me, but said that I wouldn’t even see the charges on my account, because it was all fixed so fast. WRONG. As of right now, for our $ 25 breakfast(plus tip), I have $ 70 in charges debited from my bank account. A $ 50 charge, which I’m not even sure how that would happen since that’s not the amount our bill was, and a second charge for $ 25. No refunds pending at this time. Which means, I still have to deal with this. I let them know how displeased we were, and she did ask what she did wrong, so I explained our issues. But no apology from her or the other woman at the counter. No attempt at making it better. Terrible customer service, and sub-par food. AND multiple incorrect charges to my bank account. We most certainly will not be back and will not recommend this place to anyone.

Service was good, not an awful time. Food wasn’t that great. I have been to IHOP and had their stuffed French toast with cream cheese actually stuffed inside and this place didn’t make it the same, I understand it’s not going to be the exact same, but I was expecting«stuffed» not sandwiched. It didn’t taste like it was fresh off the skillet… their potatoes, and French toast tasted like it was a day old, like it had been made then refrigerated, and then heated up to put on my plate… it was dry. The potatoes tasted like they were old. if you have ever had French fries reheated that’s what the home fries tasted like. Not good at all… we probably won’t go back. The only positive was the wait staff and them being nice.

People around were served relatively quickly. But for some reason our food was delayed. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was just ok. I won’t be coming back. Will try somewhere else before coming here ever again.

This place is horrific. The waitress was rude and condescending, also the place smells like something died beneath it. I ordered the breakfast lasagna which was rubber, tree bark, caulk, glue, and cartilage layered on top one another. One of the most terrible tasting things I’ve ever tried. Don’t go here.

Food was decent but service was less than average. Seems to be no organization of who has what table which leaves you sitting watching waitresses go by wondering if anyone is going to take your order. I had the eggs Benedict and the muffins were soggy. There’s not a pancake, eggs, meat option unless you piece it together al a cart. Overall, this place wasn’t terrible but I’d not return or recommend it to friends or family.

Passed this place during my drive back to DC. I needed dinner and was going to go to Craker Barrel across the road, but the carpark looks full. Then I spotted this place. How can I(a shorty) not going to Shorty’s Place. This is an American diner, as American as you can get. There is little juke box on the table, though I tried but the one on my table did not work. Price is reasonable, and service is cheerful. The fish special is of very decent American portion size(meaning big), less than $ 10, come with coleslaw and bread and fries. If you ever pass by the area, give it a try.

I use to visit this place as a kid and absolutely loved it. However I recently re-visited it and I am not inpressed. The atmosphere is more along the lines of «you’re putting me out» meaning everythjng is a chore for the staff. Not to mention my waitress was very rude. I will not go back. It’s so sad because I absolutely loved that place as a kid.

I came in there to simply use their restroom because the gas station’s bathroom was horrid. I walked in, and ALL the staff looked at me and didnt bother to greet me. So I shuffled passed them and went straight to the restroom. I felt really disrepected. The diner was not busy at all, they were all just standing around doing nothing, once I walked in they just looked at me? Like, HELLO, have you people ever heard of customer service. I mean, I know I wasn’t staying to eat, but what if I was? *sigh* When I exited the restroom I went straight to the door where I was expecting the host to say«have a nice day» or something nice, you know, the things a staff with proper customer service would know. NOPE. I just got more awkward stares. One star. I wouldn’t even want to try your food.

Given the area, there are not a lot of options. That being said, I’m a big fan of diners, so… Loved the 50’s feel, with juke Bol selectors at each booth. Traditional style and layout. However food was also from the 50’s, being a basic burger/sandwich fare for the most part.(Lunchtime for us, so weren’t interested in the breakfast or dinner options) OK in general, nothing special. Biggest issue was with fried foods; grease should have been changed a week ago.

Love a good old Fashion American Diner. This is it… It don’t get any better than this, a step back in time. From the feel of the place, the menu and Decore it all brings back great memories. I had the stuffed porkchops just outstanding and full of flavor, Yum… Service was outstanding, prices are reasonable and family friendly.

I have been here twice now with my husband, but I probably won’t be back. The service is fast and friendly, but the food is nothing special. I think the breakfast food is kind of pricey for what it is. I do like the feel of the diner — it has a 1950’s vibe with a jukebox in the front and mini jukeboxes on your table. Both times the service was fast and friendly. For mediocre breakfast food, I think a $ 25.00 check for two was a little on the expensive side. I prefer Cracker Barrel across the street. Though they do offer a military discount.

For a diner, this place gets 5 stars Right off of the highway, we found this gem about 5 hours into our 9 hour drive. Being the only people under 70 years old(besides the staff) put a huge smile on our faces– it was a real hometown place where everyone knows everyone. The staff was the friendliest I have ever come into contact with in a restaurant– this set the tone for the rest of the meal. Mom ordered the fried fish sandwich, and I the hamburger; two things this diner takes pride in. When lunch arrived, I could tell why; the fish sandwich was a monster– a perfectly fried(but not overly fried) piece of white fish which was moist and fresh under the light coating of batter. My hamburger was done to perfection at a medium rare and the French fries were to die for. Price points are low– the entire lunch was under $ 25 bucks with a tip. I will definitely stop back into Shorty’s Place next road trip. It was the best hometown place to stop for a quick lunch.
