A piece of local know-how I wish I had known prior to driving the Arsenal block for 15 mins — it’s in the lobby of the Boston Sports Clubs. Your GPS will tell you to drive through the front of the brick building off Arsenal St, but stick it out and take the next entrance — I have faith in you. Decent smoothie place, though there’s not much for comparison in the area. I had a cravin’ and they had a fixin’. The Watermelon-based one was pretty refreshing, albeit a bit less creamy than a yogurt-based smoothie usually. A good afternoon snack on a hot summer day.

I was really hoping to like this place but I was pretty disappointed. 1. The parking is awkward, I’m not sure if people who don’t go to the gym there are supposed to be able to park there. 2. I didn’t read the menu carefully(my bad of course) and got the Pina Colada«smoothie» without noticing that there was sherbert in it. Why would you put sherbert in a «smoothie» when you can just put fruit in it? Just seems like unnecessary added sugar. 3. Why would you have a smoothie place IN a gym that offers«smoothies» with ingredients such as sherbert and Oreos? This made the gym look really bad to me as well. The only good thing was the«smoothie» tasted good but it was so sweet I couldn’t finish it. Maybe we can come up with a different name for«smoothies» that are loaded with added sugar.

Such. a. disappointment. I checked out this small smoothie outpost nestled inside the BSC a few weeks ago with some colleagues in need of a mid-day smoothie fix. I was going to abstain from ordering, but then saw wheat grass on the menu. Sadly, the woman at the counter didn’t know what wheat grass was, and said they’d never sold it. Today, I needed a boost around lunchtime so I moseyed over and tried to order a mango protein shake, to find out they were out of mango. The menu indicated that this type of shake came in sizes ‘regular’ and something synonymous with«large,» so I ordered the regular of a flavor I didn’t really want. I saw aforementioned apathetic employee pouring the shake into a rather large cup and noted that it seemed big. She then explained that the regular was a size medium. She also checked out a BSC employee buying an iced tea after I ordered, though he got in line behind me, without any acknowledgement that she just cut me in line. Poor menu design, poor service, and a smoothie that tastes like air? No thanks. I guess I should have known what to expect from a place that advertises the franchise opportunities available right on their styrofoam cups. :/

I never understood why smoothie shops don’t exist everywhere in Boston. I suppose it’s because we have such a huge ice cream obsession? anyways, this place mixes a good drink, and will quickly customize something for guys like me who like smoothies a bit more simple. it also helps that they have that whole ‘gift shop at the end of museum’ location is just at the exit of the gym — but I actually think I would pop in here to grab one without a workout(if parking wasn’t such a bear).
