I had an appointment at 9:30 this morning and I got there a few minutes early. I was waiting in the lobby before anyone arrived to work. They’re not officially open until 10:00 but they made the appointment early because it was a color but I did assume that someone would be there. Anyway, the lady doing my hair was about 25 minutes late. It wasn’t a huge deal but it was a little inconvenient. We started the consultation and I told her I wanted an ombré. I won’t go into a lot of detail but basically it looked like a big line around the bottom half of my hair. What amazed/infuriated me was that she acted so excited and kept saying how great it looked! Clearly, it looked horrible… I showed her where it wasn’t blended and she acknowledged it but I was still bothered that she was going to send me out the door like that, as if maybe I wouldn’t notice. She said she’d fix it for free but I’m afraid to go to her again… I spent over $ 200 and I look like a train wreck just in time for my mother in law’s visit. Fuuuuuck.

Lia, a sales associate in the men’s furnishings department with painted-on eyebrows is a racist. She was very aloof and unfriendly with me when I asked if she could check for a shirt in my size and inquired if the store could honor an expired coupon. I was given a very sullen and snooty«NO,» along with a scowl of disdain. As soon as I walked a few steps away, another black woman approached the counter, and suddenly, she was all smiles and giggles. I turned to discover both of them staring at and mocking me. Obviously, I was the wrong color. After calling the store manager, Christina, to complain, I was initially offered an apology but she then began making excuses for this woman such as «I have never received a complaint about her before;» «she is a very good associate;» «she was probably anxious to talk to the other woman.» Really?! I refuse to patronize any business whose employees do not treat customers equally with due respect and managers who make up excuses for poor service. After spending close to $ 500 at JCPenney in the past 2 months on bedding, draperies and clothing, I will be spending my money elsewhere – in a store where I am appreciated and valued. Skip this place.
