I had the gyro meal and it was very good. On par with some hoity toity Greek restaurants I’ve been to. I don’t know why folks could go to McDonald’s or sonic when they could have an amazing gyro from here. I’d recommend getting just the gyro rather than the whole meal. The gyro is huge. Oh and also get some baklava. Support local businesses.

I went through drive thru around 6:00 pm today, drive thru was empty. I ordered the golden burger and the chicken kabob plate. Was expecting 4 star taste but was left disappointed. Not sure if I came on an off day or time but I wasn’t impressed and am now questioning the 4 star reviews. The golden burger had pastrami and one beef patty on Texas toast with a thousand island like dressing, lettuce and tomato. I wasn’t a fan of the golden burger. The beef patty and pastrami were totally bland with no seasoning whatsoever. There were no pickles on the burger. Who has a pastrami sandwich/burger with no pickles? I was terribly disappointed after reading the high reviews. The kabob plate included 2 generous sized grilled chicken skewers with rice, mixed green salad with Greek dressing and a side of tzatziki sauce. Honestly, it wasn’t too bad but I was a little confused because I understand the restaurant and this particular entrée are Greek inspired. I didn’t feel the meat was seasoned with any particular special Greek seasoning nor did it remind me of Greek food. It was basically tender grilled chicken cut up in pieces on a skewer. The rice had a nice flavor but I’ve never had Greek rice with veggies in it. The side salad was almost non existent. The salad container had more air in it than salad. Not sure why they’re so stingy with the salad. The tzatziki sauce was on point and was probably the only Greek thing about the meal. Customer service was very good and the meal was nicely packaged. I just wish the taste was better. I might be back if in the area for the kabobs because so far I haven’t found a drive thru with better kabobs. I’d only recommend it if you can’t find a better alternative in the area.

We tried this place after seeing it on Unilocal. If I ever want a gyros again, I’ll go back. Wasn’t all that impressed with the place. My partner had their hamburger. Be sure to wear a bib and hang over your plate when eating your hamburger. Very messy.

Today i bought a chili dog with onions and cheese they fixed it quick. The owner cane over to the window to give my dog who was going crazy by the smell a treat. Awe. Such a nice man. When i got home my food looked like it was prepaid with love. They took special care to pack the chili separate so when i got home to eat my food was fresh and not soggy. This is what i am talking about. People who care about your food. I love they have so many Chefs in the kitchen and the owner was there on a Sunday. Flame cooked and that secret sauce is legendary.

Pretty good Café with great prices! The food generously portioned and fresh! My mom said they make one of the best Chicken Fried Steaks she’s ever had. Their chili is really good, don’t forget to try their fry sauce!

I have not received any bad food here or any bad customer service. No matter what time of the day I go they are busy. No big long lines, but a steady flow of customers. The cashier is always friendly and offers suggestions. The manager greeted me from the dinning area and thanked me for coming in and choosing their Resturant today. They do not have table service, order at a counter and pay. Come back for your food when your number is called. AND the management still has time to greet you and thank you for coming in. Nice! My go to sandwich here is the grilled chicken. Nice size meat on bun with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Simple but yummy.

Tex Star Grill has lots of variety of food. The taste is very good. Their gyro’s are delicious, their cheeseburgers are tasty, and everything else is pretty good. I did not give it 5 stars because, well, we don’t hand those out like candy, you need to really wow us. Still, 4 stars is great!

The bacon burger was cooked perfectly and the recede role they used was fresh with the perfect bread to meat ratio. The fries here are also good. Everything was fresh and hot when I got in the drive through line.

The best food! Every day, every time. My family loves it! I fell in love with their authentic gyros immediately, but my new favorite is the grilled chicken Greek salad. My boys love the flame grilled cheese burgers and gyros. My husband’s favorite is the chicken fried steak meal. There is a lot to love here. Amazing staff. Friendly owner, George, is often there to make sure everything was perfect.

After reading reviews for this place, I decided to give it a shot. I used to go to Chicago a lot, and I miss those Italian Beef sandwiches. I ordered one through the drive thru wet with provolone. The cashier was very friendly and my food was ready very quickly. The sandwich was HUGE! I still have half of it left. It wasn’t exactly Portillo’s, but darn close. I’ve got to try the other menu items!

This rating is based on quality of Gyro I got at Drive-Thru! If I was a a full-service Greek/Med restaurant it would easily be 4-Star. I just had their Steak Gyro. Fan-frikkin-tastic! The steak was high-quality, tender & thickly cut. The pita was thick and terrific, the vegetables fresh & crisp. And the sandwich was less than $ 6! I am moderately/adequately full without any side dishes. They have a chicken option as well as burgers, Greek Salad and lots of other options. I love Greek/Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean food but rarely have enough time between calls in mid-day to get any. This is a real find. When I am nearby I will definitely check in here. I should be the Duke in no time!

My favorite burger in North Texas. Flame grilled, not that damn griddle-fry. As a side note, it is absolutely the cleanest restaurant I’ve been in.

Husband and I stopped at Tex’s Star Grill tonight for the first time and went through the drive thru. We ordered the chicago style hot dog combo which according to the sign is 6.99. However, when the food arrived they charged us 3.99 per item. When I complained they indicated someone will need to call me back. Not. …misleading advertisement. Look at your receipt after you order your food. I will not be going back and nor will I recommend this restraunant to anyone.

Stopped in the other day before a meeting. I was in the mood for a gyro and I had heard Texs’s Star Grill put our a pretty mean gyro. I had heard correctly, my gyro was awesome and packed full of meat. They had a huge menu and the burgers are flame broiled. I can’t wait to try a burger real soon. I don’t know why I’ve wait so long to stop in.

Dangerously close to my house! My BF and I have been here a few times. I tend to stick to the same couple of things because they are so good, but he’s more adventurous and has explored more of the menu. I should too, everything has been delicious! i usually get the greek salad with chicken. I love the dressing that comes with it(a vinaigrette) and I usually mix some of the tzaziki sauce in there too. The rest I save to eat with the pita that comes with the bread. One of us gets a combo so we have fries to share(a regular order is enough for 2 people, trust me!). I love how their fries are seasoned. Get the spicy homesauce. Seriously, I want the recipe for the spicy homesauce… it’s so good(it’s also good with the pita bread). I’ve gotten the gyro before too and that’s also really tasty. He’s gotten a lot of things… recently the Italian beef sandwich with sausage and hot peppers, and he’s also gotten the golden burger and the mushroom bacon swiss burger. That golden burger is no joke! It’s like the pastrami burger at the hat(which I miss dearly). i really feel like the price is right too, yes it’s a little more expensive than your average fast food place but it’s also REALLYGOODFOOD! also when you go in it’s like stepping back in time. They play music from the 50s and 60s and the interior has a lot of cute Texas signs and you just feel like you’re in another era. Which is another selling point for me.

This place is dope! Ive lived in this area damn near my whole life and never popped in to this place. I now regret that lol. I went today because I was tired of my usual lunchbreak go-to’s and it was at the top of my Near Me List. The Burgers are awesome. Big and tasty. I grabbed the Western Cheesburger combo. Sweet Tea was almost on Chicken Express level. Fries were awesome. Nice and thick cut. Prices totally reasonable and worth it. Walked out with 2 large combos for under $ 20 Staff was nice. Told them Id never been before and they gave me the low-down. Didnt seemed bothered that I didnt know what the hell a Gyros was lol. Will go again… like every week atleast

I have had good fresh food every time I have eaten here. I’m not happy about my visit today, I think trying to be sneaky and overcharging customers is a poor business practice. I have attached my receipt and if eating here, be sure to check your receipt, I’d be interested to find out how many others are being overcharged too, and are they reporting these over payments on taxes as income? Quick recap, ordered Gyro combo, quoted $ 9.75, I get to the window, quoted $ 9.75 again. My receipt shows $ 8.99 for the meal plus $ 0.76 in tax, no other charges on it which should equal $ 9.75. However my receipt shows they rounded my charge up to the nearest whole dollar and was charged $ 10.00. The receipt doesn’t equal up. Where did my money go?

What don’t they have? Seriously, there are so many choices. I think it is funny that a place serving so much Chicago food is called Tex’s. I think a place in Chicago that serves Tex Mex and called itself Illinois’ would be extra weird, but I guess mostly because Illinois is just not a name that rolls of the tongue the same as Tex. Back to the choices. There’s so many! They have burgers, Hot Dogs(Chicago Style of course), Patty Melts, Greek Food, great salads and a ton more. They don’t have Chicago Style Pizza, but they do have something called a Pizza Puff. We are able to make it a regular stop because thankfully, like a lot of burger joints nowadays, they have a veggie patty. Even living with an aspiring vegan, you gotta get a burger every now and then. I like to get their patty melt with a veggie patty. It’s funny that almost all places serving Patty Melts nowadays serve them on Texas Toast. Not at Tex’s, they serve it the traditional way with Rye. Delicious, curiously flavored grilled rye. So good. Their fries and onion rings are good as well. The best about this part is that they have this secret sauce out you can try for dipping. I’m not sure exactly what it is(I’m sure it is mostly mayo), but it is so indulgently good. They have a spicy version too, but I stick with the original. Only problem, it is so good that on a crowded day you have to wait in line sometimes to get at it, as people furiously fill tiny paper dipping cup after tiny paper dipping cup with this delicious house sauce. Only cracks against the place is that sometimes the service is just a tad off, but it usually is just some one off employee or situation. For instance we were in there once about an hour before close and they had sectioned off the back half of the seating that they had cleaned already. There were enough people there that some of us had to bust through the chair barricade. I think they were annoyed they wouldn’t get out as quickly at close, but nothing too bad though. Overall this is just a great, local place that we whole heartedly support.
