Pia’s!!! So glad to have finally tasted this unique, eclectic cuisine! I have been told my many in Washington that if I am ever in the area for dinner, I have to go to Pia’s. Pia’s is a little hidden gem on Main Street that is deceiving to the eye as the outside almost looks like it’s closed. Hubs and I were in the area after I had a long workday and could not wait to have dinner at Pia’s. We walked in and the first thing I noticed was how stuffy it was(the only reason it is not getting 5 stars). Eating a nice meal in a humid and stuffy restaurant isn’t my cup of tea. Why, oh why could it have not been comfy with the airflow? I really wanted to give it 5 stars but I did find myself fanning at times to get some airflow. The place had a dark, jazzy feel to it. We sat in a quiet booth with a candle lit dining motif. Very nice for a romantic dinner out. Anyhoo… our server Sarah was fabuloso! She told us all about the eclectic cuisine and how the chef likes to take traditional American food and give it a Mediterranean flair– right up my alley!!! The menu had tapas, chicken, steaks, and seafood dishes, even pasta. We started with wine and beer, me the Root 1 Cabernet and hubs the Peacemaker IPA, a local brew from the outer banks. We then had a salad before the meal. I got the house Caesar which was one of the best Caesar salads I have ever had, for real! Hubs got the Port Wine Washington Apples and Manchego salad with the house Greek Lemon Vinaigrette. This salad had walnuts, which I am allergic to but I wanted this salad. It looked so great and it was almost worth an allergic reaction but I decided that might not be the best decision. The main course… I had the garlic chicken and prosciutto pasta. This dish was ah-ma-zing!!! It was a plate of the three items above sitting in a garlic chardonnay veloute sauce and fresh herbs. The mixture of these items together was like my tongue had gone to flavortown(in the words of Guy Fieri). Hubs had the Smoked Pepper Tuna Steak with a jalapena glaze with a black bean salsa on it. He said that it was a «collision of flavors» in his mouth. Do yourself a favor, if you are ever in the area or even if you are not… stop by Pia’s and have the experience of «eclectic cuisine with a southern charm»! You’ll thank yourself later!

Oh my, who knew such a great restaurant existed in the little town of Washington, NC. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but upon entering I was pleasantly surprised. The décor was very trendy and it had great atmosphere. To make it a little«nicer» it could use white linen table cloths and that would definitely step it up another notch. I had the blackened Tuna with pineapple salsa with lemon herb choos choos.(not sure if that is the right spelling) my friend had the grouper. Both were divine! The server was a little quirky, but offered excellent service and I really enjoyed myself. I will definitely go back, which I could tonight!

If you visit the small town Washington, NC often, you know it’s hard to find a decent restaurant in town. Well, I was going in to do a business dinner with clients and this place is not open on Monday?! If they do, it will be a 5 star. Well, I end up in the second best restaurant in town across the street, I was sorry for my clients… that place is a 2 star max… I ordered the fish sandwich for lunch, nothing fancy, but taste good. The clam chowder is tasty too. So Pia is prove to be the best restaurant in town for their food and deco. Do yourself a favor come here for business dinner or lunch.

This establishment was highly recommended by a few locals. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. No falafel on the lunch menu(didn’t go for dinner). A Mediterranean place with no falafel? I don’t get it. The menu is expansive, leaving one to wonder whether they can really turn out consistently good dishes. I would like to see them nail 7 – 10 dishes everyday than have 50 on the menu that are hit or miss. I ordered one of the few vegetarian options(again, strange for Mediterranean place) and was utterly disappointed. Sautéed vegetables left the pita soggy and the fries were woefully under-cooked. I frequent Mediterranean restaurants up and down the East Coast and have some expectations when I sit down. I feel like this place needs to identify what it does well and build from there. If you are a Mediterranean establishment, offer traditional, authentic Mediterranean food. If the palate of Washington, NC will not support that, then perhaps there is room for an Applebee’s. ‘Shudder’…

Perfect for a special occasion, Pia’s never fails to disappoint. Pia’s of Washington serves up Mediterranean cuisine with a fantastic menu. Do experiment with their multitude of appetizer choices. They are all unique and complex. This is a place to sit around and enjoy your meal for a bit. They have a wine list and an adequate selection of drafts on tap. And if you still have room after one of the excellent main courses, try the Dulce de leche for desert. It is a cheesecake to top all cheesecakes. If you have a choice, try to sit in a booth near the window(to the left of the hostess stand). The other tables and chairs are more like you’d expect in a doctor’s office. They are not a deal breaker, but they are rather uncomfortable and not really fitting for a restaurant where you should plan on spending $ 70 – 80 for a dinner for two. The service is mostly very good although we have had one very poor server there. The décor is nice and the restaurant is a nice place to be aside from the odd-ball tables and chairs. For special occasions(or on a more regular basis if you have the means), Pia’s is a fantastic place to dine in Washington.
