Have tried a couple times for both lunch and dinner; service was always friendly and welcoming. The atsmophere was good and unique. Menu has a good variety of options for everybody and waitress have been friendly each time. I’ve tried different meals each time and have found them average each time. Not bad… but not great either.

The appetizers did not disappoint but do not order a steak. Medium well is served over cooked, tough and marinated simply meant spreading some kind of goo over it after it had been over cooked. Service was poor and the manager couldn’t ring our ticket correctly. Will definitely never go back.

I LOVE Denhart’s! The new chef is wonderful. Everyone else must like it too because the place is packed at lunch time.

Meh. I guess people like the historic location of the restaurant, but the owner was unfriendly. When we asked for a table for 5, his facial expression made it painfully obvious, we were an inconvenience. Later when we pay the bill, he was silent & didn’t ask how it was, didn’t thank us for coming, etc. Positive were waitress was busting her butt and was friendly, however she clearly had way too many tables to provide attentive service. We sat multiple times with empty drinks for instance. Overall, decent food, but service is subpar. Go somewhere else while in Washington. There are much better choices!

My usual breakfast spot! The All American. Wonderful Staff. Crispy Hashbrowns and Bacon. They have breakfast specials too!

I marked«cheap» on the price range, but you can get plates for over $ 10, but certainly not required to. Customer service here is great. My wife and I have come in numerous times and a couple times had issues with our food(once a fly was cooked in a pancake {to be fair, it was fly season and they were everywhere around town} and another time the order wasn’t put in). HOWEVER, they made it right. The pancakes were remade(obviously) and given for free! Not at a discount, completely free. They cared. The other time, when the order was late, they discounted it by around 35%, and the food came out probably 20 minutes after we got there(not dreadful). The food is very good for its’ price and they have several baked items available for sale. They also take call ahead orders. I really like this place and will definitely be back(it helps that I live 4 blocks from it also).

Unfortunately this place is not good. The waitress had no idea about beers. Todd ordered the 2 pork chop with apple chuntey on top and it looked like something a lunch lady would whip up. It was $ 17.99 too… he seen it on the special board with no price. It was way too expensive and everything was bland. Worst corn ever… I didn’t know anyone could screw up corn… also the dessert were dry and lacked flavor. Also the old guy that is there not sure if he is the owner but all he does is pace around tables… pace, pace, pace. It was annoying.

Took my first trip over to Washington, Il today and decided to try this place for breakfast. The owners have done a beautiful job on restoring this historic building. I’m sure it has made a positive impact on the town square. I understand their biggest crowds come at lunch, but they serve all three meals. I had the Eggs Benedict, it was very good, tender crispy english muffin, perfectly poached egg and tasty hollandaise sauce. My husband had the crab cake eggs benedict which he said was good also. They have some different things on their menu, not the same bar and grill fare you find so many places. Washington has a nice town square too so stop in for a meal at the Denhart Baking Co. and visit the other shops on the square while you are there.

We went in for a late lunch just before the Christmas 2012. We both had the Rueben sandwich and it was very good. Service also was good. We will definately go back. We enjoy the ambiance and the fact it is a restored bank with wood floors and the vault area still in place(although it is used as a little gift shop). It is the place to go to when you just want to get away and enjoy some time together.

We brought our family here and the hostess was extremely accommodating. We were glad to see a kids’ menu. The food was good and our drinks were filled several times. The ambiance is nice as this is in an old restored bank. Our waitress was good, but a little pushy.

A friend and I came in yesterday afternoon around 1:45, thinking breakfast ended at 2 pm, not that the entire restaurant was closing. I am a server, I understand the frustration that comes when this sort of thing occurs. However, its the food industry and it can only be expected that sometimes, its just going to happen and those people deserve the same quality of service. Our server walked up to the table and immediately asked what she could get for us. Not ‘hi my name is.’, not ‘how are you?’ I ordered the crab cake benedict, my friend ordered biscuits and gravy. When our food arrived, my poached egg was essentially a hard boiled egg and my hollindaise sauce looked like nacho cheese and had the consistency of mayonnaise. Likewise, my friend’s gravy was hardly warm. I wouldn’t dream of asking that it be remade. Simply because the restaurant was closed and I felt bad enough for making the mistake of coming in already. That being said I think if you’re not willing to offer your customers the quality food they are paying for you should let them know the restaurant is closing. I would have much preferred that. I am a Denhart’s die hard and love coming to this fine establishment however this experience has strongly affected my view.

I’ve lived in Washington for 6 months now and despite driving through the square every day on my way home from work I’d never noticed this place. My wife found it online and after perusing the menu there we decided to give it a try. The décor is interesting(in a good way). After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned about the service but we fond the wait staff to be very friendly. I did wait a little longer than I like for refills but it was lunchtime during the Cherry Festival so I won’t hold that against them. Our family is vegetarian so my wife and I got the veggie wrap and our son got the PB&J. Didn’t take too long for our food to come out. It was fresh and delicious and came w/a genorous portion of fries. One thing I noticed, the menu says steak fries, I’m pretty sure those are supposed to be a wider /thicker fry, what I got was crinkle cut fries. But I love fries and there were about twice as many as I expected so no worries there. Overall we were very happy and agreed we’d definitely go back. We’ll probably try their breakfast next time. My one suggestion… There doesnt appear to be any vegetarian options on the dinner menu, that pretty much rules it out for us.

Great food and atmosphere. The service was not too great… they brought us the wrong item and then never offered to bring us the correct item and just said«well this has basically all the same ingredients as what you ordered.» The food really was good though, and I believe this experience was just the result of the waitress having an off-day.

My favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Washington, Illinois. Denharts is in a restored old bank building. Great breakfasts and wonderful specials. The service is always top-rate and very kid friendly(my daughters love the hot chocolate served up in big cups with whipped cream). The brewed coffee is very good and they also serve specialty coffee drinks. Great place.

Horrible to work with for banquets. Made us feel like we were inconveniencing them the whole time we were planning my sisters shower. Would’ve canceled if we didn’t already put down the deposit. The restaraunt itself is ok, and the food is fine, and the server who helped us with the bridal shower was really sweet and helpful. But the people who own the place totally suck, they need to adjust their attitudes and realize that we are paying customers that want to help keep them in business. If they don’t want to have banquets, then they shouldn’t offer to. But instead, they offer to host banquets and sigh/huff-and-puff the whole time, making you feel like crap.

This restaurant is on an old restored bank, on the National Register of Historic places. Beautiful inside, it’s a great breakfast place. We’ve had lunch and dinner here also, but I think breakfast is where they shine. They offer the standard egg plates, but also include breakfast skillets, as well as a healthy offering of yogurt, fruit, and granola. A wide variety of pie can usually be found.
