The meats taste really good, but overall I did not think it was a great meal. You basically get a lot of meat and rice, a tiny portion of lettuce and an even smaller side of kimchi. I got the beef bulgogi and the spicy beef bulgogi. Both were marinated extremely well and cooked perfectly. It was tender, juicy and the flavors were really good. If i were forced to pick a favorite, I think the spicy beef slightly edges out the regular beef. But I wouldn’t really consider their servings as «full meals». If all you are looking for is meat and rice, this truck will surely hit the spot. Compared to the other food trucks Yellowvendor portions are bigger, so you will definitely be satisfied. But if you’re looking for a little more complete meal the other Korean food trucks are the way to go. If only they integrate some more sides or veggies into their meals I think this would be a 4 – 5 star spot!(In other reviews and pictures I do see more veggies and sides in the meals, so maybe they just ran out on the day I was there.)

I ordered the beef bulgogi without realizing there was another option for«spicy» beef bulgogi. I thought I’d be disappointed and that my order would be bland, but it was surprisingly flavorful. The rice was perfect. Kimchi was decent(nothing special, but good). Salad was meh – just a handful of iceberg and some watery dressing. Would have given 4 stars for the flavor of the beef, but docked one because the meat could have been trimmed better. A few pieces were lined with chunks of fat.

Tofu bibimbap was great and the portion is very generous. I also loved their kimchi. Fast, polite service, and you get a healthy lunch for $ 10. They also have miso soup for $ 1.

The beef bulgogi here is absolutely spectacular. It is tender, flavorful, and has just the right amount of heat. The rice is well seasoned, and good on its own. The portions are huge. The extra sauce they hand out is definitely worth grabbing. Honestly, I’m writing this review so I can remember that this food truck is the ONE, because I know I’ll manage to forget the next time I head out for lunch. But go for Yellow Vendor. It’s delicious.

Stopped by their truck today and really enjoyed the bibimbap, which was quite good: flavorful, nice portion. The owners are lovely. I’d certainly stop by their truck again.

I love this food truck. It’s a good portion for $ 9. I’ve had most things off the menu and have never been disappointed. It’s nice not to be shortchanged on the meat. I usually enjoyed getting the spicy chicken and the regular bulgogi. The food didn’t have a lot of fat, which is something I haven’t liked at a lot of Korean places.

A lot of food for $ 9. Free egg and kimchi w/bibimbap. Kimchi was mild and not that notable, but definitely seemed homemade. Very nice people. Better than fire and rice by far.

I thought the portions were good and the spicy beef bulgogi was pretty decent. Overall, not a bad choice for on-the-go Korean food. But they really need to improve the marketing on their truck since it’s really hard to see their logo.

This Korean Food truck provided me with a pretty good lunch for $ 9.90. The truck owners are really nice and friendly. I had the bim bim bap. There was plenty of greens, carrots and sprouts. The beef was lean and tasty. The rice was a bit on the oversteamed bland side but I’m being nit picky. It was a healthy lunch from nice folks. I will go back and try some of the spicy stuff. :)

Had the spicy chicken teriyaki and was not impressed with it at all. The chicken tasted okay. It wasn’t that good and felt like low-quality meat. It was served over bland white rice that was unappealing without the sauce from the chicken. Speaking of which, it wasn’t spicy at all. I was hoping for something with a little bit more kick. Moreover, I barely touched the two sides it came with, which were a «salad» and kimchi. The salad, if you could call it that, was just lettuce with some sauce on it. It couldn’t have been more plain if you tried. I’m not a big fan of kimchi but I did taste it and I didn’t really care for it. I wouldn’t order it again, especially for $ 10.

Spicy combo is good for the price, but judging from some of the pictures on here, I got ripped off with my portions. I did, however, pick this cart in the sea of options at Farragut, mostly because the people waiting in line were ordering in Korean. A huge thumbs up for that, but still disappointed. Rice was bland, meat was generous but beef and chicken tasted the same… what’s up with that? Kimchi was great, but small portion. Just meh.

Big portion for $ 8($ 9 with a drink — combo). The spicy bulgogi usually comes with a side of kimchi and a side of salad, but I love kimchi more. The bulgogi wasn’t too spicy. Perfect for people who can’t tolerate spicy food. Fresh kimchi. The food could be a little warmer. Mine was at the room temperature.

Cost, quality, and quantity were better when this operated as a cart on 14th& L imo. I used to crave it back then, but not anymore. Ps, spicy is not spicy.

Food trucks always remind me of my childhood when every day after school I would stop at a hotdog stand on my way home and also the joy of an ice cream truck exciting every kid on the block as it came through your neighborhood. So I am actually surprised that I have not visited more food trucks, I’m going change my ways and the Yellowvender was my first opportunity. I actually wanted to try DC Tacos truck but they ran out of every possible ingredient they had prior to my arrival, Yellowvender was right next to it and offered a cuisine I enjoyed. The prices for what you get are pretty reasonable, 8 dollars for a full serving of rice, cabbage(regular) or cabbage(spicy) or both and a meat of your choice. I was definitely satisfied with the amount of food provide, the taste I wasn’t as satisfied with however. I kept it simple and ordered the chicken, just wasn’t in the mood for bulgogi which of course is a staple in Korean BBQ. The chicken was okay, not really seasoned enough for me, there was definitely a flavor there but it was more on the bland side. Doesn’t mean the taste was bad, just that a little more seasoning would have went a long way. The rice was heavily infused with peanuts; you will definitely taste peanut in almost every bite, so if you have allergies stay away. The flavor of the peanuts and rice actually went quite well together and also added some flavor to the chicken if you combined them in a spoonful. All in all Yellowvender didn’t really make me fully embrace the food truck craze, it was decent but I was looking for something really good. I’ll still give it a thumbs up for quantity and some quality of the food for the price and if I see it parked again I might give the bulgogi a shot, however this truck would not have me doing what I did as a kid when the ice cream truck came through which was chase it halfway down the block just to give them my cash.

I’ve been eating this family’s bulgogi for years now and it is one of the«original» bulgogi street vendors with the«Bulgogi Cart»( ) still in operation on L Street, NW. I used to walk to this location from my office on nice days in order to be treated to a huge portion of their delicious Korean fare. This truck, launched by son Andy, hit the scene when food trucks exploded and I’ve found Yellow Vendor’s food to be quite on par with the cart. It’s not«bowl you over» or especially unique — but it is, IMHO, consistent, generous for the price, and flavorful. Often compared, I do like the Korengy Truck( ) japchae option but this place offers a tasty kimchi and simple salad of iceberg lettuce and vinegar dressing on the side missing from Korengy. Go with double salad if you need something to cut the spice. Or, if you are a spice fan, get the spicy combo and load up on the kimchi! You may want to tuck a napkin into your shirt before dining if you are getting any of the spicy items. Perhaps I am a messy eater but I invariably end up with at least 1 or 2 small red«dots» on my shirt from an errant piece of spiced meat or kimichi. Thank goodness for Tide To Go pens!

Yellow Vendors menu is pretty straight forward, which other reviewers have described. I got the spicy bulgogi with extra kim chee. I love that they gave me a nice portion of kim chee AND the kim chee was GOOD. The bulgogi was just OK — maybe it was because it was towards the end of lunch(around 2pm-ish), but a few of the pieces were stuck together — I mean like STUCK together, which made it annoying. Also, I didnt like that they cover the rice entirely with the spicy bulgogi. Although its not super spicy, but it doesnt give you anything with no spice because all of the rice is now covered in it as well. Im giving 3 stars because I finished most of it and was satisfied and the food was not horrible, but not sure Ill be running back anytime soon.

After a disastrous experience with my first Korean food truck(in Orlando, FL), I was a little hesitant to try Yellow Vendor — but the fact that the only other food truck option we had was kabobs, kabobs or kabobs, I figured«hey, why not?» I’m glad I tried it. It seems the food here is mostly pre-cooked and they just scoop out the servings of food into a styrofoam container. The salad portions aren’t dressed until the order is made, so those are still crisp instead of being wilted from sitting too long. My co-worker and I both ordered the spicy beef bulgogi(she’s such a copycat) and we both loved our lunches. The portion sizes were excellent and my co-worker ended up taking home a good amount of food. If I had a complaint, it would be that the spicy cabbage wasn’t very spicy at all. Flavorful, but not spicy. The spicy bulgogi, however, had a nice bit of heat to it — making it taste all the better. Service here was friendly and fast, though I had a hard time understanding one of the worker’s accents. Yellow Vendor helped me rethink my issue with Korean food trucks.

Horrible. I actually got this mixed up with the KOrengy cart which is the same color and also sells Korean fast food. My apologies. This cart was in Franklin Park last Wednesday(11÷2÷2011). I love Korean Fast Food and have developed quite the palate for it during my many trips to Korea. I got spoiled living in Los Angeles’ Koreatown and then frequenting NYC’s Koreatown at my favorite Korean fast food spot«Woorijip». I saw this cart and got excited. The price was right($ 8) for a spicy bulgogi plate and the ingredients looked fresh. Boy was I bitter when I saw the lady pour this saucy looking, Sloppy Joe-inspired substance over my white rice. It didn’t smell good at all. Yes, I know Kimchi smells bad, I expect that, but this smell wasn’t the Kimchi. Anyway, I expected spicy and really it wasn’t. I have no idea what they were thinking. I thought I would get the bulgogi plain topped with a spicy hot sauce, not this Sloppy Joe crap. It was basically inedible. That was a shame because the veggies were really yummy and plentiful. Too bad the main course was pretty awful. Hardly any meat and the meat that was there was sort of like a mystery meat. It was really weird in consistency. I had to basically throw it out. I couldn’t eat it. I will not be hitting up this cart again.

There was a group of 4 food trucks on 12th and G today, and I decided on this one because the prices weren’t insane and the line was the shortest. It also smelled phenomenal, and I could see the guy cooking the food, which is always reassuring. I liked that the menu was fairly straightforward and bare bones… no dessert or drinks or frilly stuff, just good Korean BBQ for both omni and herbivores, at a fair price. I got a spicy chicken box for me and a spicy beef bulgogi box for my coworker. For $ 14 total, you really can’t beat the price, and the amount of food was MASSIVE(almost too much – I couldn’t finish my rice). The guy who took my order was also very friendly! The food was a-OK, nothing mind-blowing, but good. Not being much of a Korean BBQ aficionado, I wasn’t quite sure what to look for, but my taste buds were happy, so that seemed like enough. The kimchi was strong with lots of sauce, and the rice wine vinegar mix he poured over the(fresh!) iceberg lettuce was tasty. As for the meat, it wasn’t bad. The spice was not overwhelming, but it had lots of flavor and nice overtones of garlic. I also tried the beef, which wasn’t as good as other bulgogi I’ve had, but let me reiterate – $ 7 for a massive plate of food and a smiling face behind the counter. Good enough for me. I’ll be back.

$ 7 for a giant lunchbox of bulgogi bibimbap? Actually *IN* DC proper? better yet, only a block or two away from work? I’m sold! in all honestly, this is not the best bulgogi, or the best bibimbap I’ve ever had. Far from it. Their kimchi is also a little too sour, and not quite hot enough for my taste. But, if you live or work in DC, you know how hard it is to find an asian place with anything edible and not drenched in sweet and sour sauce. I appreciate them for being there to satisfy my Korean-food-cravings. In the end, Yellow Vendor is just a solid, unpretentious little food truck, selling some decent bulgogi bibimbap at a very reasonable price.
