Wisey’s was my staple throughout my time at Georgetown. It’s a hole in the wall deli that the students find extremely attractive for lunch and munchies. They have a small selection of beer, drinks, some grocery items(crackers, candy, cookies, pasta, etc.), a full deli where they make some very delicious sandwiches(see Burger Madness, Cheddar Jack Chicken Sub, etc.). and their famous oreo cookies. Well, all of their cookies are amazing, but the oreo one in particular. Trust all of the reviews on that one. If you just want a quick bite and happen to be in the area, stop by Wisey’s. The service is always the same, and each sandwich is always exactly the same every time I order it. Old faithful.

This is an updated review as of 31 Jan 2016. With students back in full swing and studying for exams, Wisey’s is a Georgetown staple more than Booeymonger’s is. Anyhow, I ordered the Chicken Sadness(actually it’s the Chicken Madness), but I just had one of the worst weeks ever during Snowpacolypse 2016. Anyhow, the service is consistent from the prior experiences and the Chicken Madness tastes good as ever. To finish it off, I bought 2 oreo cookies, which if you haven’t tried. .. you should.

I love the chicken madness and it is made to perfection. The bread is soft, chicken isn’t that dry, and the bacon is amazing. Also only $ 7.95 and includes pickle and chips.

Relatively inexpensive deli with a menu of hot subs. I went with their signature chicken madness. Grilled chicken, onions peppers and provolone on a toasted sub with mayo for 7.95. Sub comes with small bag of utz chips and a pickle. A pretty straightforward sandwich, which undoubtedly proves popular with the Georgetown undergrads. I enjoyed the meal, but was left yearning for the sub I procured in Daytona Beach a few days earlier…

Chicken madness and the hot chick! YESSS. My first time here and I already loved it. This place is a hidden gem — convenience store and sub shop all in one. The subs were delicious. My boyfriend wanted to show me one of the places that he ate at a lot when he attended Georgetown. Both sandwiches were yummy, chicken madness had peppers in it to give it a nice crunch. The hot chick was like a chicken tender sandwich with oozing cheese… Ugh so good. Both sandwiches comes with pickle and chips. We also got a side order of fries which were super crisp. And at the end, we got 2 Oreo cookie cookies that my boyfriend was raving about. Didn’t try this until later because the subs and fries were super filling. But damn! The Oreo cookie cookies were like crack.

When you charge 8,75 for a 6 – 7 sub I expect a little quality in terms of the ingredients. Terrible bread, semi decent meat below avg cheese. But the melt it and there is plenty of grease. So if that’s what you want.

Deli for hungry Georgetown students on a budget. For ~$ 8 you can get a sub with regular UTZ chips(no substitutions) & pickle. I tried the Peggy and Chicken Madness. I liked the kick to the Chicken Madness, Peggy is good if you’re craving hot Turkey instead. They offer a selection of fresh baked cookies such as Health, White Macademia, and Oreo for $ 1 each. That gives this place some novelty. I didn’t understand the previous 5-star reviews because this place a reliable greasy-spoon type of place, but it isn’t THAT good that you should go out of your way for. It’s a cheap eat & you get a generous portion. That’s it.

Been nearby to Lauinger Library quite a bit this summer, and thought I would give these guys a try as there always seems to be people inside. I was glad I did. The chicken madness sandwich was loaded. It had no spicy mustard on it, which is merciful as that particular condiment seems to be an assumption in and around the DC area, where it’s an «opt-in» in other locales. Service is quick, hours are late, and prices good, as you’d expect from a college deli.

My third day in the area I found this place on Unilocal and decided to walk from the University Hospital as it had some great reviews. Had a great philly steak and cheese yesterday. Hot, moist, lots of meat, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise on the side for my own discretion. It’s priced well, especially for getting chips and pickle with it. The service was great and people seemed friendly, it wasn’t busy when I went in, only after ordering and waiting for my sandwich did the people start piling in. I would say that the grocery items are a bit expensive, but most snacks and chips are reasonable. Unsure of the drink prices as I didn’t see any listed other than the beer, cider, and wine which seemed a little higher than at the large grocery stores but not expensive. With this being a small store that most likely stocks their own shelves from nearby grocery stores it’s not too expensive. If you are close by and need something it’s convenient. The last thing I bought was the famous oreo cookie which others have reviewed. It was very good, seemed like a sugar cookie with chopped oreo mixed in and lightly baked to a chewy deliciousness.

Twenty years after graduating from Georgetown, I was so excited to have a sandwich from the grill at Wisey’s again. It did not disappoint. I was torn between ordering one of my old favorites, the Peggy Special or the Chicken Madness, but ultimately ordered the Chicken #1. This is basically a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese on a croissant. Somehow, it is absolutely delicious. The sandwich selection at Wisemiller’s is much larger than I remember, and if I lived nearby I would be a dedicated customer. I would need to try them all. Georgetown has a gem in Wisemiller’s. If you’re visiting, try it out. Prices are very good(probably because they cater mostly to students). Enjoy your sandwich while sitting on one of the main lawns of the university one block away. There is no seating at Wisey’s.

Gave this place a second chance because it is so close to campus and I had a three hour class. Bad decision. Refer to my previous review and my troubles ordering the california salad sub. Order the same thing, and this time got a chicken sandwich. Definitely never said the word«chicken» in my order because I haven’t eaten meat in about 8 years but the guy who made the order insisted I did. Can you see the trend(refer to previous post)? This time I didn’t just walk out but stood my ground and insisted they take the chicken off. All they did from what I could tell was take a bunch of chicken off, re wrap it, and mark it UP one dollar. Yeah, so never going back there.

I just finished my last semester of grad school at Georgetown and I I didn’t hear about this place until the last month. I’m glad one of my classmates mentioned it, so I could grab a quick bite before or in between classes. The«Gangsta» wrap is pretty good and the only thing I ate when I went there. When you’re in need of a quick bite, why experiment with food choices when the first one was just fine. I can’t remember all of the ingredients, but there was turkey and bacon involved & it was delicious. It’s a fairly small place, but you can get in and out of there pretty quickly. Definitely a great find & a must try for Georgetown students or anyone that happens to be in that area.

The home of the famous chicken madness… Used to get one of these weekly! It’s a magical sandwich with so many yummy flavors and a bit messy so it can explode a little while you eat it… I brought one of my Japanese friends who was visiting me here to try it and this was her favorite thing in America. When I’m not in the mood for the craziness(not so often), I like to get the chicken & avocado on croissant sandwich. It’s also very good, simple, and fresh. Some of the sandwiches come as a lunch set with chips and a drink. Also the freshly baked gooey Oreo cookies are also crazy good.

Wisemiller’s Grocery & Deli is a favorite among the Georgetown undergrad/grad students, where they can stop by and grab a quick sammy to go. The menu offers subs, such as the Chicken Madness, Italian chicken Sub, Taste of New York, and California Chicken Sandwich. My friend and I decided to grab some lunch — she had the Tuna Salad on wheat with lettuce and tomatoes, whereas I had the Steak and Cheese Deluxe(steak, provolone(extra), grilled onions, and mayo(extra)(I opted out of the mushrooms and the lettuce) — we both thought the subs were just okay; the breads themselves were more on the drier side, the cheese not all the way melted, and not overall ‘greasy’ enough as I thought it would be — I think it was more of a ‘hot sub’ rather than the traditional steak n’ cheese. The subs come with an original Utz chips and a pickle. I noticed that you can call ahead to do a carry-out — I am glad that I did, as the line for this place during the lunch rush can get pretty long! When you enter, the front park is more of a ‘mart,’ where you can get beer, wine, drinks, and other limited grocery items; you go around the bed to the other side where you can make a sharp left to get in line to order, or just stand to the right to pick up for call-aheads. Bring your food to the front of the store again to the cashier to pay. Street parking is quite limited, so keep that in mind. +call ahead for pick-up to avoid the lunch rush +front part is the grocery; deli around the back

Ordering can be a bit chaotic, as this place is a huge favorite of Georgetown students. HOWEVER, their Chicken Parm sandwich(complete with pickle and chips) for less than $ 10 can’t be beat. It’s always warm and always tasty, so you can’t really ask for much else at a sandwich shop! They also have a grocery there, which I’ve never used, but I always think that it’d be helpful if you ever needed something while you were there. Oh, and they have really fantastic cookies, too. AND you can get pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream there. Always a plus.

Consistently good food. My favorites are the chicken parm and the mushroom burger. Oh, and the onion rings are delicious beyond compare! Place is a bit tiny, but they sure maximize the space. Just be prepared to wait a bit for your hot sandwich during peak ordering times.

If you’re a Georgetown student, this place is a must(yes, even my vegetarian friends were able to find good food here!). It’s across the street from Walsh, and is open until 11:30pm for your late night munchies convenience. The aisles are narrow because the walls are packed with drinks, chips, candies, and random cleaning supplies, etc. that you might need if your dorm is nearby. Their legendary Chicken Madness has spanned the globe. I’m not kidding; I had a friend from Japan visit 4 years ago and loved the Chicken Madness so much that I brought one on the flight to Tokyo this past May to give her one. Their oreo cookies are also something to try. There is a second Wisey’s on Wisconsin Ave, but most Georgetown students know that the one closer to campus is where it’s at.

This place is a classic Georgetown staple that frequents Georgetown students at all hours of the day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. During the busier lunch and dinner hours, expect to wait 30 minutes or more for your order. Once upon a time, my order was«lost» in the mix of orders: aka someone took my order since I was not paying attention. I recommend calling in earlier to place your order and dropping by to pick it up since Wisey’s does not deliver. Needless to say, I consider Wisey’s one of the top sandwich spots in Georgetown and a convenient place to grab some last-minute beer. The cashier, sweets, and cigarettes are sold near the entrance while the beers are in refrigerators in the back. They make the sandwiches in a separate room connected to the first room. The classic top-selling sandwich and my go-to would be the Chicken Madness, which consists of chicken breast, peppers, and onions. For about $ 8, you get a gigantic sandwich, a bag of chips, and a pickle. Another unique best-seller and personal favorite is the Oreo cookie. For ~$ 1, you get a cookie filled with Oreo bits!

Tucked in the back of the store is the home to one of the most delicious, greasy and filling sandwiches known to man: the CHICKENMADNESS. For $ 7.50, you get a pickle(eh), chips(eh), and this behemoth of a sandwich. The CM packs quite a punch, not necessarily because it’s huge(although it is on the larger side), but rather because Wisemiller brings 100% flavor out of all the fillings(which happens to include onions, sweet peppers, bacon, and lots and lots of chicken breast). The only downside is that it takes a while to prepare the sandwich — just don’t expect Jimmy John’s speed and you will leave happy and full.
