Bartender, who probably meant well, was completely drunk, stoned, or both this evening, so the service kinda sucked. Totally empty bar, which was in stark contrast to its neighboring competition on one of the nicest days of the year so far. The food was mediocre at best, to be charitable.

A great sports bar for the Park View neighborhood, Walters features good beer, cheap beer, indoor and outdoor seating, good food until the kitchen closes, then chips afterwards, and plenty of TVs for game-watching. The bartenders have all been friendly and helpful, especially Ben, who has slung many a beer for me.

I needed to post about Walters anyway but also need to address Mollie S. I love Walter’s. It is a no frills bar. They have great food and cheap booze. The staff is great. I’ve been coming here since they opened and am not capable of leaving without getting the Beef Jerky and Dry Rub wings. That being said, I stopped by on Saturday night to try the Italian Sub which was new to the menu. It was great! I am always hunting for a good Italian Sub in DC which can be hard to come by. While I was here, I saw a few people getting very aggressive with the staff. I am going to assume this was Mollie S and crew. They were there on some snow bar crawl or something, I didn’t get the specifics. But what I did see was one of their crew running around with no shirt on. He was asked multiple times to put it on and he refused. The bartender had to run next door to grab the owner because it was getting out of control. Granted, this was some seriously great people watching because they were pretty drunk and obnoxious. The owner could not have been any nicer and politely asked that the gentleman put his shirt on. From there his friend started pushing the owner(and the bartender) screaming«what are you going to do about it» along with alot of other F and C words that Unilocal disapproves of. He didn’t stop and the owner called the cops. As they finally got the hint and were leaving they started verbally and physically accosting other patrons at the bar who had nothing to do with this. Mollie S and friends should really be careful when they get drunk and start fights and verbally accost the staff and patrons in a bar finishing their statement with«F&%K you! I have 20,000 Unilocal followers and I’ll ruin you.» Because people like me live for this kind of stuff and check Unilocal 5 times a day waiting for you to spread your hate. I sincerely hope management puts something out here explaining the truth. Oh and lastly Mollie S… you have 1 Unilocal follower you power house you!

Bar food was ok but it’s a good place to watch a game.

A sports bar? THATPLAYSSPORTSBALL? Finally. It’s a real great addition to the neighborhood. The TV selection is fantastic, and, if there’s no particularly popular game going on, your server or the bartender will ask you if your here for a game. I once asked him if I could watch a German league game and the dude put it on. I’m a hipster piece of trash, I’m very well aware of that, but you know how many bars would do that? Not many. They have everyday all day 3 dollar beers, and a good selection of drafts. The late night(West Coast) happy hour is great, as well as the 5 dollar wings everyday. Every day! I love wings, my guy. Good choice. The service can be hit or miss, but for the most part, it’s good, and if the waiter takes too long, you can always spell swear words on the magnetic walls with little felt letters. If you see«hail Satan» all over, it’s because I was there. The food is decent, average sports bar stuff, and nothing to complain about. I haven’t had anything that blows my mind there, but I’ve never left disappointed. It’s a solid addition to the neighborhood and a great place to catch whatever game you have in mind. Good to see a sports place in town, and while it’s nothing spectacular, it’s pretty cool to see yet another place to hang out and watch some games. I’d like to see some stepping up with the quality of the food, but hey, I’m not complaining yet. Come here for the 3 dollar beers and stay for the game.

Neighborhood dive bar with an insane happy hour special. Despite being a fairly small city, DC’s beer and liquor pricing competes with the big boys. Most bars I’ve been to hover around a solid $ 6 for any beer you might want, likely the same for well drinks. Not so at Walters. Any time of day you can enjoy Walters’ mysterious $ 3 tap«Beer», or if you’re on a diet you can enjoy the«Lite» beer, with mysteriously less calories. The beer varies, so best odds are to convince someone else to order it and see if you like it first(though for $ 3, how much buyer’s remorse are you really going to have?). At happy hour it gets even better: 5−8pm every day(yes, you heard me, EVERYDAY) you can get $ 4 East Coast drafts and $ 5 specialty cocktails along with a few $ 5 appetizers. Walters is kind enough to adjust for West Coast time as well should you be visiting, and 8−10pm daily they have a «West Coast» happy hour for West Coast and Mountain drafts. Friendly bartenders, plenty of tvs if you’re into sports watching, and friendly neighborhood crowd. The rail has a good amount of seating, and there are also several high tops and a few 2 – 4 person tables near the front. The food menu is pretty diverse and includes typical bar fare like wraps, wings, and hotdogs.

*UPDATE* Mice. I came here for the West Coast HH and there was a mouse running around. I CANNOT. And I will not be back. I’m from the south where we have flying cockroaches and stuff. This, I cannot deal with I’m sorry. Lol Original post– Came here to try something different. This place is in my neighborhood and I usually hit up the regular spots DC Reynolds and Looking Glass. The happy hour is really good. 5 – 8 $ 5 wings and certain drinks $ 3 – 5. They also have a HH from 8 – 10 for certain beers. Wasn’t really in the mood for wings, so I got the chicken quesadillas. I’m from TX so I have pretty high standards for any form of Mexican food. Even in light of that, I tried to finish the quesadillas, but I couldn’t. The chicken had absolutely NO flavor at all. I can’t speak for everything on the menu bc this is my first time, but stay away from the quesadillas unless you enjoy tasteless food. I’m a foodie and was disappointed, which is why I gave this place 3 stars. Maybe I’ll come back and try something else on the menu and give it a better review. We shall see!

Beer selection limited and sub average number of tvs for a sports smaller sports bar. Food was standard meh sports bar affair. I really like the owners other bars but this one just is just average. Soccer and football seem to take priority over other sports.

I had three beers, two on happy hour, one not, with some wings and my bill came out to like 13. That’s a great deal. The bartender(the one with the hat) was nice and gave me the run down on all the beers without having to ask. The wings were good, maybe a bit overcooked, but honestly for five bucks they were pretty good. I’ll definitely come back here.

Very solid and unpretentious bar. Great place to watch a game and the staff are great. The menu is basic, but they do a good job on the food. I’d rather have a few items done well than long menu of just ok. Excellent addition to the neighborhood.

Solid edition to the neighborhood, just came here for a quick meal early Sunday afternoon. The food was tasty and very affordable, we had the tater tots(called something else on the menu), spinach dip, and a pretzel. All 3 items were great and came out almost instantly. We did not stay for football but the TV situation looked great– there were plenty of them and many TVs very viable from basically any seat in the restaurant. In addition to the TVs they seem to have 9 dollar pitchers during football. I would certainly come back here to watch the NFL or just have some dinner again.

Petworth finally has a legit sports bar. Sports bars don’t need to be complicated. Plenty of TVs, all of the sports packages(NFL, MLB, NBA), lots of beers and good food. I was most skeptical about the food, but I gotta say the wings, pretzel and BBQ sandwich were excellent. Granted, they could have more food options, but these get the job done. Their beer special based on the time zones is also cool. Good work, guys. I’ll be back.

Great happy hour and cool staff! I like the sports bar theme because there is none in the area and hopefully it remains true to the sports bar aspect. Good addition to the hood.

This new sports bar is a perfect addition to Petworth, located right between two other great bars, DC Reynolds and Looking Glass Lounge. Even though their space is pretty small, they’ve got several TVs(at least 6) with all the football packages, and they have a lot of seating at tables, a long bar, and a fenced in patio in the back. The menu covers many bar classics, like wings, pretzels, quesadillas, sandwiches, etc. Their wings were baked to a nice non-greasy crisp, and the buffalo sauce had some good flavor to it but wasn’t very hot. The hot dogs are a foot-long, all beef, and come with kettle chips, ketchup and mustard — pretty simple, but goes well with watching a game. The drink menu was about twice the size of the food menu and had a lot more variety, with about a dozen beers on tap, several more in bottles and cans, wine, ciders, and even specialty cocktails. They have happy hour 7 days a week including an additional late night(8 – 10 pm) special for $ 4 west coast draft beers. Everyone in there(bartenders, customers) was really friendly, so the bar itself has a «neighborhood bar» feel with a laid-back, unpretentious atmosphere… so glad to have found a place like this for football this Fall!

A great addition to form a great trifecta of bars on Georgia. They have a ton of TVs, so when you want to watch some games, this place is there. They also have a relaxed vibe, last night the games were muted and what could have been the Dead channel on Pandora played all night — peaceful. The staff seems decent, but I haven’t been blown away by their attentiveness or interest in people in the bar in the 3 times I’ve been. The food is pretty solid — the fried potato things(name?) are excellent — a nice spicy kick. The Old Bay wings are decent too — could be a little crispier though. See other reviews for the happy hour details — good HH for sure. They also have a back yard — it’s really a nice space in general.

Looks like this is going to be the best sports bar in the area! And this place has $ 3 draft beers!(in the year 2015!) The first happy hour is from 4 to 7 p.m. everyday: $ 2 off certain wines, $ 4DC Brau and $ 3 Powers. Then they have the 8 to 10 pm happy hour too for west coast beers! One thing that made a lot of people excited about this place before it opened is that it will be managed by Ben Fiske, who formerly managed Laughing Man Tavern and Bedrock Billiards. Plus, it is co-owned by the people who already run the successful bars on either side of it – DC Reynolds and Looking Glass Lounge. The decorations are nice, especially the old memorabilia of Walter Johnson, the old Washington Senators pitcher for whom the bar is named. For food, there are pretzels, hot dogs, baked hot wings, beef jerky, veggie burgers and pulled pork sandwiches. I’ve had the pulled pork($ 9) and the baked hot wings($ 8) and both were really good. I’ve always been optimistic about the bars that have opened up in this space, but this time I’m certain they’ll be successful. Update: I also noticed that this will be the new spot in the neighborhood to watch UFC fights. For the last one, they charged a $ 5/person cover that came with a free beer.
