Jay Nix has been our realtor for two home purchases (and one sale) and we have nothing but positive things to say about him. He helped us think through the best approach for buying and selling and was always (and I mean always) available to field even the silliest question (and never made us feel like they were silly). The guy seems to live and breathe the ins and outs of DC real estate, and we got the sense that he’s actually deeply passionate about helping people find the right home and make the right deal, even if it doesn’t get him a quick sale — I think he’s really about building client relationships for the long haul. His speciality is clearly the DC market (and he even knows the history of the various neighborhoods through the decades), but he was also great in helping us transition out to the NoVa suburbs. We have unreservedly recommended Jay to friends looking to buy, especially for their first home. You can’t go wrong with this guy.

This review is for Jay Nix at the Mandy and David team. Jay was our agent for our coop purchase. Jay was really amazing. He worked with my husband and I for about 6 – 7 months. We were looking for something pretty specific, and starting to despair when we lost a bidding war on the first place we put an offer on. Jay was never pushy or suggested that we look in areas or price ranges with which we weren’t comfortable. When our dream place came on the market (which we now own!) Jay helped us put together a perfect winning offer. But once our offer was accepted was when the real magic started! We were able to close on a coop using a credit union that had never previously lent in the building in only 30 days. If you are at all familiar with either coops or credit unions you will know this is nothing short of a miracle. Jay orchestrated all of the pieces and there were zero hiccups. Everything was smooth sailing and Jay was an absolute joy to work with. I wholeheartedly recommend him (and already have!). You can’t go wrong with Jay!

Adam Turek at the Mandy and David team went above and beyond to help me navigate the home buying process. He was exceptional in providing guidance, helping to answer my many questions, as well as be available and quick to respond; not to mention going well above to reach out to necessary parties to answer questions. I feel very grateful to have worked with someone so professional and not to mention kind.

Francisco Hoyos of the Mandy and David Team is simply a great agent and I cannot recommend him more highly.
My husband and I were new to the D.C. Market and to condo ownership as well. We had a narrow window of time in which to find the right home for us and found the speed of the very hot D.C. market difficult to say the least. Franky knows the market thoroughly and took the time to help us figure out what we really wanted in terms of space, location, and amenities and then tailored our search spectacularly well. But his assistance not only did not end there, but was just as valuable after we had our target in mind. He negotiated for us successfully and we were very happy with the result. Then he and the Mandy and David Team shepherded us through the (for us) out-​of-​state settlement process, dealing with the inspection and issues such as plaster repairs and AC fixes. He basically held our hand from search through settlement. He answered our infinite emails immediately and had a thorough knowledge of the whole financing/​settlement/​closing process.
We ended up with a great unit in Kalorama and we couldn’t be happier. If you are looking for a property in the challenging D.C. market, I think you will find Franky a great choice as your agent.

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience finding my first home in DC! I worked primarily with Shannon F., but Mandy was amazing as well (they both worked during their vacations to navigate a potential bidding war with me). My wife and I just bought our first home in DC (we were renters in Arlington, looking for a place in DC) and we wanted to share some notes on our experience here. Long story short, we cannot provide enough praise for Donnell Kearney of the Mandy & David Team, and Adam Turek of Coldwell Banker (Donnell was our primary realtor, Adam supported along the way as we met him at the first showing). For what can be a very complex, overwhelming, and stressful experience, they were patient with us, instilled confidence when we needed it, taught us so much about the home-​buying process, made it quite enjoyable along the way, and ultimately left us with everything we could have hoped for. If you are searching for a realtor in the DC area, track one of them down and don’t look back!
A little background — we knew very little about what buying a house really meant — the search, terms of an offer, negotiating, inspections, financing, closing, renovations, move-​in, etc. especially in the DC area where everyone says the market is insane and it’s quite difficult to buy. Within two weeks we had an offer accepted and within two months we were homeowners (and couldn’t be happier). How we got there:
1. Donnell and Adam were educators from Day 1, teaching us about the ins and outs of buying a home. We asked a lot of questions, and they were patient to answer them really at any hour of the day — via email, phone, text, in person. They were both incredibly timely with their responses.
2. They provided tools to us to have full awareness of the market. Buying a house requires a lot of your own work, but having the right tools to search, filter, browse, see, etc. helps a ton.
3. It was clear they have the deepest network across the region, and insights into where things are moving and when. We trusted them from day 1 and that was probably the most important quality we found in our realtor.
4. When it came to making an offer, they walked us through each step, each term, and guided us to what ultimately was the perfect offer. For what we thought would be quite overwhelming (and require lots of time on Google), the process was straightforward thanks to Donnell’s guidance (he came in person to every inspection, walk-​through, signing, even with a contractor to scope out some renovations.
All in all, whether a first time home buyer or a seasoned buyer/​investor, we’d highly recommend Donnell and the Mandy & David team, or Adam of Coldwell Banker.

Franky not only found me a great house, but it was in a location that I was not even considering because I had assumed it was out of my budget. He also worked with me until 3 AM that morning to ensure we completed the offer and that it was the first (and only) offer the seller saw — this tactic proved to be especially successful given how hot the DC market was over the summer. Donnell Kearney of the Mandy & David team is simply tops! I worked with Don when the market was slow and again, to buy a new home in the current, competitive market. Here’s why he is the best realtor I know; when the market was slow– and during the Christmas Season, Donnell sold my house at full asking price within weeks of listing. That’s right– I was under contract with a full price offer at Christmas when everyone around was complaining that homes were taking 100 – 150 days to sell! On the other end, he found me the deal of a lifetime. We purchased a house that was nearly 2,000 square feet larger than the home we sold, and because of the deal he negotiated, and low interest rates, our mortgage is only $ 300 more than the house he helped us sell! The deal was so good in fact, appraisers call us to ask us what was wrong with the house when we bought it! They can hardly believe it when I tell them, the house is just fantastic! You couldn’t do better– Donnell knows his real estate and value better than any other! You want him on your side of the table when you’re buying a new property!

My husband and I were first time home buyers and were extremely nervous about the entire process of purchasing a condo. We ended up being extremely lucky and were referred to Debra Pearlstein, a real estate agent with the Mandy & David Team. Debra not only made the entire process happen without any major issues, she also educated me and my husband throughout the process so we always knew exactly what was going on. Employees from the team kept us informed with due dates, and the electronic signature program made completing and submitting forms a breeze. Debra’s and the entire team’s communication was great and I never once felt lost or «out of the loop» from going under contract to closing.

I have worked with Mandy and David for twice, my first time almost five year ago was to buy a coop and then this past year to buy a house with my fiancé.

Jay helped us find the perfect house and then made the bidding and closing process super easy and pleasant. His knowledge of the DC area is phenomenal, he advised us on neighborhoods and architecture as much as on real estate business issues. On top of being a top professional, Jay is super nice and always helpful. He drove us to numerous places and didn’t lose patience when we were still picky after months of looking. Per the positive reviews on Unilocal,we contacted Mandy and David when we wanted to put our condo on the market. We talked with two other realtors but we just weren’t impressed. With Mandy and David, our condo received six offers in six days, and yes the market was hot, but our condo got as much attention because Mandy and David helped us stage properly and had fabulous promotional materials. Seriously, look at photos of their properties — they’re done really well. Our only concern about going with this busy team was that we’d be past off to an assistant or that we’d not get responses quickly. That was completely unfounded. Mandy or David always responded quickly and personally. Their team members were an added support system. If you want to sell your place, contact them.

Robert Crawford helped my wife and me buy our first house earlier this year. He exceeded our expectations in every way. Not only did he turn us on to several under-​the-​radar neighborhoods and dazzle us with his deep knowledge of the DC market, but he also consistently impressed us with his diligence, responsiveness, candor, and thoughtfulness.

The Mandy & David team is the epitome of what real estate agents should be. I just closed on a condo in DC a few days ago and my experience throughout the entire process of working with Mark Vernon and the rest of the team was wonderful.
To give some background — I had met and considered working with three other real estate agents (DC/​MD/​VA each) before Mark and the difference between those agents and this team is night and day. One of the other agents spoke with me for 20 minutes over the phone and then signed me up for an automatic search engine-​generated email that vaguely matched some of the criteria. I can set an automatic search up on my own. Also, it left me doing all of the work by sifting through the new properties each day and finding ones I wanted to see. One of the other agents tried to make me sign a buyer’s agreement before even meeting me. A buyer’s agreement would obligate me to work with the agent, regardless of whether (s)he turned out to be good or not.
When I got to the Mandy and David team, it was a whole different story. Mark and Tyler set me up to meet with them immediately. They gave me a comprehensive overview of the entire process (glossing over parts I knew) and then asked me very in-​depth questions about what I wanted in the condo. I knew these guys were focused on my needs when these things happened:
— They asked very specific questions, such as, is there a particular coffee shop near which you want to live? Is there a specific floor you would like to be on? None of the other agents thought to ask more than the basic questions.
— They compared a buyer’s agreement to bringing an engagement ring to the first date. You don’t know if you like the person, so why would you commit yourself to them without knowing that?
Sorry, this is a long review! After the initial meeting, Mark checked in with me regularly by sending me specific properties that fit my needs. When I had questions on a property, he would immediately contact the listing agent for an answer. Whenever we went to look at properties, he never made me feel like I was taking too long or wasting his time. With other agents, I sometimes felt guilty if none of the properties worked.
DC is a pretty tight market right now, so it was a little tough finding exactly what I wanted. What ultimately made the difference was personal connections. The Mandy and David agents knew another agent and I got first crack at a property that did not even go on the market.
After putting in an offer, Mark was with me every step of the way. He answered questions at all hours, no matter how small. If an issue came up with the seller, he made it clear that he was on my side. I felt completely comfortable every step of the way because Mark kept me well-​informed. Alix, another member of the team, accompanied me to the home inspection, and Mark was there for the final inspection. The closing went extremely smoothly and I had no doubts that this was a great decision for me.
These guys also help you with things beyond the home-​buying process. They’ve recommended carpet guys and painters and send contact info for utilities/​cable/​DMV, etc. I’ve already contacted the carpet guy and he is very nice and very affordable.
In summary, these guys are at the top of their games. They work in the DC area and are considered experts in the Logan Circle /​Downtown DC area. I would highly recommend the team and Mark especially.

When we first started looking for a house, we had no idea how to find a real estate agent (should you find a licensed «realtor,» find one through an open house, etc) Luckily, Mandy and David had five stars on Unilocal,and that made it easy to at least give them a call. I had doubts relying on Unilocal for such a large purchase, but I have to say that the five stars is well deserved, and Mandy and David (and the team) were amazing to work with.
As first time buyers, they understood that it could have taken a while for us to find a place. They educated us on what our money could buy in DC; they showed us a wide range of places that they knew we might not buy, but were important for us to see to understand the DC market. It was also FUN going around with them, as home shopping should be a fun experience.
Once we made the offer, their team walked us through the process. They gave us good advice in the negotiating process, were extremely accessible over the phone and through email with questions, and were more than happy to let us into our new place many times so we could get estimates and measure prior to closing. They also gave us great recommendations on lenders and a GC.
Most importantly, they truly view this as a lifetime relationship, meaning that their ultimate goal is to make you happy, they are very trustworthy, and will give you advice thats in your best interest. We won’t hestitate to recommend them and use them again in the future.

Mandy & David team are real estate super stars. I’d buy their stock if I could.

My wife and I closed on our first house June 15. It was a crazy process that brought us to finding our new home. We looked at dozens of homes with Josh Yearsley our amazing agent. He was so patient and worked with us as part of a team to help find the gem we now call home. The whole team at Mandy and David are great people who will go out of their way to help a client. They really want you to be happy with your purchase and help you understand the ins and outs of the home buyers market.

Mandy and David were great to work with! They know the DC area well, and provided very open and honest feedback to us along the way. When we finally found «the one» (on our first visit), the companies that they referred us to to complete the buying process were unparalleled. From the lender to the inspector… they all were top notch and really knew their stuff.
