I’ve come to this place several times for brunch, lunch, and dinner, and it’s excellent every time! I love their house-made«Pop Tarts» and their cocktails. I always look forward to coming back, and staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

This review is solely for the poptarts. Unfortunately I had high expectations coming in, Ted’s is well known for its desserts and I gave their famous home-made poptarts a try. Disappointed to say that you’re better off buying an actual poptart. For almost $ 4.50 a pop, the poptart is NOT worth the effort. I had the blueberry cheesecake poptart, which was quite bland; there were barely any blueberries inside, nor did it taste like cheesecake. The pastry wasn’t flaky or buttery as other Unilocalers had said. The joint itself is pretty cool, gave a classic American diner vibe. Won’t be back for their poptarts at least, maybe their other desserts…

I ordered the Deluxe Grill Cheese with the meat and Mac & Cheese. I enjoyed the sandwich and the tomato soup. I was upset that I did not get the pickles that I saw on all the other plates. The soup is very thick almost as if it’s a purée not a liquidity type of tomato soup such as Campbell’s. I wasn’t a fan of that bottom of bread being soggy but the flavor was extremely intense and provide a wonderful into the meal. I also tried the blueberry and salted caramel pop tarts, I was not impressed. This is why the review is having 4 stars and not 5. The pop tarts were very hollow and dry. I felt the tarts were not what I was expecting. I am a sweet girl I love all things sweet but these will not be on my list of must do again.

If you don’t like this place, you’re an idiot. Simple, standard fare done well. Beers are like $ 3. Short rib sandwich is dankness. Ted’s is a classic. I love you, Ted.

Five star lunch. A little slow to get started with our server but it rolled from there. Crab cake sandwich was our favorite of three lunches we ordered. Strawberry tart(homemade) was beyond delicious. One our best meals in DC!

Really awesome brunch spot. I’m a New Yorker who takes«brunching» very seriously; but my DC friends who recommended this place were absolutely justified in their glowing praise. The food was excellent and portions generous. The homemade pop tarts are amazing and not to be missed. The ambiance is quaint but open. And their choice of old-style movies lends some extra fun(in our time there, I caught the tail end of a Marx Brothers film and the first half of Casablanca.) Word to the wise– the wait can be upwards of an hour and a half on weekends. Call ahead, arrive early, and you might get seated ahead of your reservation(as we were lucky enough to do on a Sunday).

We got seated right away on a sunny Monday morning. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. He gave many recommendations as it was our first time there. I ordered the crab cake Benedict. It was pretty good. The only problem was it came on sourdough which was impossible to cut and too sour to be paired with a hollandaise sauce. Also, there wasn’t enough hollandaise sauce! I would probably skip this if I had to do it over. The poptart was my favorite part. It’s how you want poptarts to taste when you buy them in the store. Super fresh, sweet and delicious! I wish I took some to go.

What a fun place. I came here to meet up with some old college friends, one of whom I hadn’t seen in almost five years. The environment is casual, and I like the old school diner theme the restaurant emulates. I got the crab cake sandwich, which wasn’t bad, but was more of a burger than a sandwich(think of the crab cake as the patty). It was also a pretty heavy meal – fried crab cake with a side of fries. It was tasty, but I probably wouldn’t get it again. But, they serve breakfast foods all day, which is always a plus in my book. My friends like their meals, and the chicken parmesan stole the show – that portion was HUGE. The star of the evening, though, were the homemade poptarts. The salted caramel and blueberry cheesecake were the best(we tried all three), and I have no regrets getting those. They also have«adult» milkshakes, which is my next go-to. They don’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait, or get there early!

I was underwhelmed with Ted’s Bulletin. For some reason, I wanted to try this ‘trendy’ spot, and I left disappointed. My daughter and I went for brunch. She ordered the Big Breakfast(I think that’s what it’s called) — — it came with 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausages, Ted’s Tart, hashbrowns. Instead of hashbrowns, however, my daughter wanted a pancake. I ordered the Crab Benedict. My daughter loved her meal… but then again, she’s 8 and is rarely disappointed with breakfast. The crab cake was small, and almost felt like nothing was there. The poached egg was cooked a little much, and the hashbrowns were greasy. Yuck. I would never come back. I only gave three stars because my daughter enjoyed her meal, and our waiter was pretty attentive.

Ted’a Bulletin never disappoints! With a traditional and fun ambience, the place offers spiced up options to your everyday dish. Their homemade pop-tarts are the (the most recent seasonal flavor I’ve had is key lime pie) and their four layer carrot cake doesn’t mess around. Aside from the desserts, TB offers amazing breakfast items. My favorite is their crab cake.

I love this place – though the wait is so long they have to hand out buzzers. Because of the wait we usually ended up eating next door. This time we decided to sit at the bar where stools were readily available and service was attentive because we were right in front of the bar tender/servers. Whoddathunkit. Brunch was delicious and totally hit the spot, we had some mid-day ahem adult beverages that set the mood… but I digress. We also sipped old fashioned milkshakes(they also give you what’s left in the shaker) took home homemade pop tarts which were quite lovely and sweet and a cinnamon roll big as your head – but I ended up feeling too guilty to eat it or even giveaway due to the calories. Your welcome. Bottom-line, the place is a gem if you are lucky enough to get in. We’ll be back.

Best brunch in DC? Quite possibly. With an art deco style 50s funk, Ted’s bulletin has that old timey charm that draws you into the story. The brunch is quite excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy and the food was on point. I also ordered some Ted tarts. Blueberry cheesecake is the best. Strawberry is a bit on the sweet side and brown sugar is a classic. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience here. The food/pastries are a bit pricey.

Following all the reviews for Ted’s bulletin did not disappoint. The atmosphere is fun inviting. You have to love a place where they have the Three Stooges playing on the big screen! We ordered a variety of foods intended to share amongst us all. The fried chicken was crisp, meaty and delicious. The cedar plank salmon with mushroom rice was smoky and flavorful. We also had the little skillet of brussels sprouts and a crab cake appetizer. After eating dinner the kids had matching chocolate milkshakes. Everything was superior including the service from Marie, who was friendly and fun to talk with. This is a must stop for a great, better than diner, experience.

If you’ve never had a freshly-made pop tart before, then you are really missing out! Unfortunately, I’m really missing out. On our last night in DC, we decided to come here. The reviews looked good and it was fairly close. And plus, those pop tarts were calling my name! Coming by at 5:30, wasn’t a good idea as parking was a nightmare. But, since we were probably going to have a feast, a little walking would probably be good for us. We got to the restaurant, and there was already a line to put your name down. We put our name on the list and they said it would be about 45 minutes. Well, 45 minutes turned into almost 2 hours! While I can’t blame the restaurant for their guests not leaving, I will say that it would’ve been good if they presented another option such as sitting at 2 different tables. We had to suggest this and they were hesitant to do this because they couldn’t guarantee us the tables would be close together. With hungry and cranky kids, that would’ve been ok. But, luckily, one of the bigger tables finally cleared up. As for the food, it was pretty good. I wouldn’t call this fancy food, but I wouldn’t call it diner food either. I had the steak and eggs(what can I say, I’m a sucker for breakfast food for dinner) with hash browns. The steak was good, the eggs were good, but the hash browns were heavy on the butter side and weren’t as crunchy as I like. Don’t get me wrong, I like butter, but I felt a little guilty when eating them(confession: I still ate them ALL!). The table also got a burger, pot roast, grilled cheese with short ribs, a salad, and a kids mac and cheese. Everyone said they enjoyed their food, so I will believe them. There were also a few milkshakes on the table(cookies and cream and strawberry) and those got A grades from the kids and wife. Now, for those pop tarts. I was about to order a few, but then someone said they were going to order banana cream pie. I didn’t want pie, but I saw a carrot cake at another table and I had to try it… at MY table, that is. I ordered 1 and it was HUGE! There was no way I was going to finish the whole thing! But, it’s like they say, when there’s a will, there’s a way! This is where some people would say, «After eating all that cake, I had to take the walk of shame back to the car.» No shame here. It was delicious! My plan was to take a few pop tarts to-go for tomorrow morning, but I guess that will have to wait until I visit DC again.

I have eaten here for brunch, lunch, dinner and will continue to come back. I’ve never been disappointed. I definitely recommend trying their deserts. I LOVE their pop tarts and will get two — one to eat for desert and one to take home to enjoy for later. I’ve also had the cream pie that is huge and takes about 3 – 4 sessions of nibbling to make it though, but worth it.

Ted’s Bulletin has easily become my favorite restaurant in DC, especially after I visited there twice in one weekend. The first visit was for an early lunch. Never having been before, and already having breakfast that morning, my boyfriend and I decided to stick with the lunch menu — and both immediately set our eyes on the Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup combos Ted’s offers. I went with the Classic Grilled Cheese, and my boyfriend selected the Super Deluxe Grilled Cheese(grilled cheese, mac + cheese, and short rib), both with a bowl of soup. Upon delivery, I immediately regretted getting the Classic — because the Super Deluxe looked glorious! Both, however, were absolutely delicious, and I ate all of mine + some extra bites of the Super Deluxe. For dessert, we split the Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Ted’s Tart, and it was the perfect sugary cap to a wonderful for lunch. Fast forward 48 hours later and stuck on what to do for breakfast, we ventured back to Ted’s(thank goodness it was within walking distance!) for our last DC meal. This time, we got the Jon’s Omelet with Wheat Toast and the Mark on an Off Day platter. Again, tasty, fresh, and oh so delicious. The omelet was made with light egg layers on the inside, providing the perfect bite each time with a wonderful balance of the egg, spinach, Swiss cheese, and mushrooms. To finish, we once again split the Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Ted’s Tart(it’s so good)! While we arrived early for breakfast, the place did fill up fast. Since we were unfamiliar when the breakfast/brunch rush would hit, we did opt to do one hour call ahead seating just in case for 9:30AM. If visiting Ted’s is a priority(and it absolutely should be — whether you are in DC for the weekend or a long time resident), definitely utilize this service to avoid having to stand, wait, and drool over the Ted’s Tarts!

I visited Ted’s Bulletin recently with a friend at her request. Oh the things I do for friends. I’ve been secretly staying away from this place because it’s ALWAYS über crowded, at least in the front where people are waiting to be seated and even outside. Once while walking through Eastern Market, I was with family and hungry, so I decided to stop and check out the place. I had to slide through lots of people to get to the hostess. She told me my wait would be about 1.5 hours long… ridiculous and disappointing for simple diner food– eggs, bacon and a pancakes that I saw being whisked to tables. Fast forward to my actual dining experience. My friend got there before I did and got us on the list with a reasonable wait time(40 minutes). It gave me time to find parking and walk the few blocks to the place. It was crowded yet again. Everyone was in everyone’s personal space. It drove me bananas! Glad our buzzer went off shortly thereafter. I sat down, the waiter attended to us right away, gave us recommendations and got our orders in. He was polite and awesome! I got a mimosa with elderflower and some other ingredients that I don’t remember. It was delish. I had two($ 10 each)! To eat, I got the french toast, eggs and hashbrowns with an added side of applewood smoked bacon. Why doesn’t the bacon(or a meat) just come with it? Not sure if it was the service coupled with my mimosa that made the food taste better, but the food was pretty darn good. The eggs were fresh and didn’t require any additional seasoning. They tasted like they came from a well fed bird. The french toast wasn’t heavily battered with egg, but they were of reasonable size and fluffy(not huge thick sourdough bread). My bacon was just as good. I don’t eat bacon often, but this was an exception and it was good. My hashbrowns weren’t Waffle House, but a little ketchup did them well. All the traditional breakfast flavors melded together exceptionally and I was happy that I finally got to come. My friend got a repeat of her order from her last visit, the steak and eggs with a bloody mary that she liked. The crowd is very diverse(as is Eastern Market) and it was refreshing to see. I tried the famous house made pop tarts. I was a bit disappointed. One, the flavors vary day to day. There isn’t a set flavor list daily. The demand is huge and you should definitely place your order for what you want before your meal or even buy as you wait for your table. The pop tarts in pics look huge and amazing. In real life, they are the size of a pop top with the top bubbling into a slight dome. Don’t get excited that they are filled with all kinds of scrumptiousness. They are, however, hallow with a light covering/coloring of sweetness on the inside bottom layer of the pop tart. Excellent for non — sweet lovers or people who don’t generally like the artificial, gooey, sweetness of a Kellogg pop tart. Nothing to write home for people that have a bit of a sweet tooth like moi. I’m not going to write them off until I’ve at least tried the s’mores tart that I think I’ve seen in pictures. Otherwise, I’ll stick to Corner Bakery’s blueberry lemon hand pies that are to die for! My mimosa had me like Arnold S., «I’ll be back.» Adult milkshakes? Count me in!

Valentine’s Day Brunch ^_^ I must say this place was amazing. My boyfriend found this place on Unilocal and he wanted to test it out for Valentine’s Day and I’m glad he did. He picked the perfect little place. You can call ahead an hour before you want to be seated and they will put you on the wait list. He called at noon and wanted to be seated at one however, they had an opening at two so he agreed. As soon as we arrived it was packed! When I say packed I mean packed. We went to the hostess stand and they gave us a buzzer. We was actually seated at two which was amazing and I really appreciate that. We sat in a booth and ordered two adult milk shakes(Nutty Professor and Banana Froster with strawberry). I mean wow the milk shake was perfection, they really masked the liquor well with these shakes. It was a burst of flavor in my month. That alone had us amazed. We ordered(french toast with hash browns and cheesy eggs, he ordered chicken biscuits with home fries). The food was very good. Everything was seasoned perfectly, the hash browns was seasoned just right and the cheesy eggs. Most places skipped the salt on a lot of things because of people with high blood pressure etc but not this place :) His chicken biscuits was really good. He said they look dry from the outside but they’re really moist. Our server Chris was amazing, he was very attentive and very friendly. Overall our experience was excellent. I do have one issue, the bathroom is coed; they have a toilet and a mens toilet in the same bathroom. I thought that was disgusting for some reason but other than that this place is amazing!

Eh, I don’t get the hype. I like the news vibe they have going on with the newspaper menu, but the food is not worth the wait. No reservations, call about an hour before you want to arrive and put your name on the wait list. You’ll still have to wait, but it won’t be as long as cold walking in. Everyone in my group got a different egg dish and everyone thought their food was average or less than average. One person in our party didn’t feel well after. The eggs were really greasy. Tater tots were good, but not the best I’ve ever had. What you really come here for are the homemade pop tarts and even those are not worth the wait. The butter pecan was fabulous and the salted caramel was hard and flavorless. I’ve heard great things, so might be a worth a try, but it wasn’t for me.
