Random, but the fish and chips are a must have! Simply excellent, superb, tasty and delicious. The bartender told us it was bass? Not sure if I believe it but it was certainly great tasting

Zero stars if I could, won’t let you in with tan timberlands like you will start a fight because you wear them, this is not a classy enough establishment for all of that.

This was my first time at Takoma Station and I had a ball. The band was great, the DJ have my group some personal attention and the drinks were on point. I will be back.

Pleasantly surprised by Takoma Station, a hidden gem! My hubby and I decided to check out the band Area301 this past Wednesday. We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, attentive waitress, good food and music at Takoma Station. The price was also unbeatable. The Area301DJ was awesome and played a great mix of hip-hop/r&b to groove to and their band was very good playing their original music. The opening band Slay, was great too, really awesome singer! However, the comedian in the middle of their act was a little crass, at least for us. We had a great time and will definitely go again. BTW, Area301 plays there the first Wednesday of every month and worth a trip.

Great music and even better food, however the service was unacceptable. Ordered two chicken caesar salads and waited an hour. After seeking our waitress she puts the blame on her coworker(who I did not order from). After speaking with the incompetent manger he comp one of the two salads. I always try to patronize with establishments near my area, however this was very disappointing. I give this two stars ONLY because, my new waitress Kellie was awesome and so was the security guard(forget his name)!

I am a huge supporter of DC Black Business Owners. Hearing a lot of good about this place I ventured out on a night for solo music indulgence to see a band, Marley in the Mixx(a friend’s brother is a guitarist). Its easily accessible and identifiable. Great service from door to stool at the bar. The bartender was very attentive even though it was packed I got a memorable conversation from her. The layout is loungey, not a lot of dance space and thankfully the crowd was mature and ready to enjoy music too. I definitely plan to go here again for another good music indulgence.

This place has thee worst customer service ever! The drinks were water down and my waitress with the short blonde curls was slow as a snail. She was by far not friendly at all. The place had old small wooden chairs that felt like they were going to break any minute. They were wobbly and not enough seating for guest at small tables. Don’t come here for the Long Island ice tea drinks they are not that great.

What can I say… the Station is the Station. Friday night’s with Suttle Thoughts is always a party. Small and intimate, not too pricey. Awesome drinks. Mature crowd.

My neighborhood spot. I live within blocks from Takoma and come in quite often for drinks and wings during happy hour. It’s perfect for times I don’t want to venture downtown but I want a drink and hear some live music. They normally have a jazz band during happy hours. I have not been to many of the party events on the weekends but Thursday night gogo band cranks and really gets my weekend started early. Overall nice place good food, strong drinks and great music. Will continue to support my local bar Ps. Sometimes the crowd can look sketch don’t worry everybody knows one another and people actually don’t mind having bar chit chats with you

I dub my review«Its like ‘Ghetto Cheers’ and that’s a good thing» I was nervous stepping into this establishment for happy hour by myself. But IMMEDIATELY the bartender came over and welcomed me. I made friends with the locals who frequent the bar. It was amazing. So close to my home. If Im drunk, I could walk home. 5 dollar long islands(all sorts of flavors) from 5 – 7 5 dollar appetizers 10 dollar plates Not a big selection of food but their fish n chips WASAMAZING. And I nibbled on my newly made friend’s chicken wings those were Z&(*^ going too! Let me move on to the most amazing part of my experience. THEMUSIC. OMG the music was sooooooooooo good, I was jamin on a thursday night. I am a newly made fan of go-go music. Ive been living here for a year but havent gotten into but this place just turned me into a believer!!! This is my new Cheers Pub. By the time I left everybody knew my name ppl were buying me drinks. Love love love this place!

Attended my cousin’s 40th birthday party. First, I was carded. I felt good at 60 he thought I was under 21. I gladly showed my ID. From there on in — down hill. My cousin had a reserved area. Since we got there before 9 pm we didn’t have to pay a cover charge. We purchased, which I thought was pricey a glass of wine $ 10. Won’t be getting another one. Our table purchased the chicken platter, but not very good. So this left me wondering what do you get for your $ 300 reserved space. With a flyer their happy hour must be better. For $ 5 you can get Long Island Iced Tea, Spinch Dip, Wines, Wings or Margartias between Tuesday-Friday from 5 pm — 8 pm.

Stopped in for a drink and was pleasantly surprised. Close to the metro and the inside is real nice. It has a large space with a stage where they do live music fairly often. Fully stocked bar and friendly bartenders. I will be back here to try the wings!!!

Well worth the visit. Try the purple passion-it will get you real nice, kinda like a long island that tastes like grape kool aid. the bands that perform here are DC to the core — total recall, vybe, after hours band used to perform here — that’s when i fell in love with the place. most nights there’s just enough crowd to be sociable but not so much that you can’t move around and have a good time. Call Shawn on theire website if you want to set up something special. Parking can be a b*tch so car pool with that D.D. You’ll probably want one anyway.

GOOD food + booze + tunes = a good time had by all On weekends, Takoma Station is a nice little(read: pretty damn small) spot to meet up with friends and hear some great local bands. The weekdays are more of the same — but with poetry readings/slams and jazz bands. It’s more chill, perfect for the«30& up» crowd. Parking can be a bear, but the Charlie Parker Basket(wings, fries), liquored up drinks and tunes make it all worthwhile.

The old fat dude at the door is RUDE! The place is WAY over pricd for such a small joint. Men are $ 30 and women are $ 20 at the door. Drinks start @ $ 10 per. they close the door early at 2am. Even if you came in a 1:15am they still charge you the FULL $ 30. The bands are ok and the crowd is not really up to par. Most of the time there are very few ppl there at all. hope they close down and open a new spot near my house. The parking is AWFUL! dONT WASTYOURTIMEANDMONEY. ANDDID I SAYHOWRUDETHEOLDGUYISATTHEDOOR?

I really liked this place but I had one issue… the crowd age group is around 50 an over. If it were more of a mixture it would have been fine. I went to meet some friends for drinks. The drinks were good and the band was better than I expected. Its a nice place to chill and the décor is interesting. Perhaps I should have stayed longer to see how the crowd developed. I would recommend it to others if you live nearby.

Hard to believe this place has been around 25 years and I’m just now getting around to visiting it! The first thing that struck me was the long, dark wood bar; very atmospheric. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that they had draft beer; 13 lines to be exact! Having said that, the selection was only middling, with Stella, Redhook IPA and Shiner Hefeweizen being the most intersting choices, and the pints don’t come cheap: $ 5 at happy hour. Oposite the bar is a performance area. In addition to the Wednesday through Sunday Jazz/R&B performances, they also have Monday night comedy acts. The food choices are limited to bar staples such as sandwhiches and wings. Food serivce itself doesn’t actually start till around 7pm, with a cover begining at 8 and the music around 11.

I was visiting last night and stopped by with a friend from out of town last night(Wednesday). I live nearby and we didn’t want to go far. We didn’t go in because the bouncer charged us a $ 20 cover charge on a Wed night. When he could see my lady friend was balking, he said she could pay $ 10. I think he was hoping I would be embarrassed about not paying the cover – little did he know she’d never let me pay. We just wanted a place to have a drink and chat a bit. I would never pay that much for a cover charge – all we wanted was to get out a bit, sit and chat, listen to some local music. With unemployed musicians all over town, I don’t think this spot is doing them any favours, really. We were told that was a special rate because it was after 10pm. Either an unscrupulous bouncer(if so, DROPHIMFAST), or unrealistic understanding of demand.

This is the kind of place you can come to make happy hour feel sad. If jazz and blues are built on inner turmoil and angst, Takoma Station feels like it is the soul of that. I am sure its a different story on nights when there are bands or acts here, but I have only been here after work for a little bit of the old forget-the-day sauce. The patrons are weird loners that wont really make eye contact with you. The bartenders are as friendly as you can expect them to be. The whole place just feels downtrodden, but in an endearing way. I have seen a woman fall down drunk by herself at like 6pm on a Monday night. Also the drinks are RIDICULOUSLY strong, so please if you even like yourself a little, spring a liquor upcharge to avoid the black death they pour from their rail booze. Overall this place has a weird type of charm that doesn’t come at a premium.

Often overlooked for spots like Blues Alley, Takoma Station is host to of the finest DC/MD/VA jazz acts. Even though the name includes«Takoma» the building is technically in D.C.(it is right on the DC/MD line). Inside there is gentle listing and pale wood which gives it a welcoming vibe. There’s a large large plate-glass window in front so you can scope out the crowd that’s inside. The music here is mainly entertainment, but sometimes you’ll catch a R&B act, a go-go DJ, a comedian or reggae band. All of this for no cover! The food here is pretty good– I recommend the catfish or the Bernie Burger. The drinks are well priced, there is a dance floor to get your groove on and a friendly twenty something/thirty something crowd.
