For a Food Kioisk during the summer months, this Caribbean spot hit the spot! They do have a full restaurant, yet my review is for the pop up «island delight» outside of Union Station. 1st, where to start?! With so many veggie/vegan options to choose from, you can get mini full on the samples that is offered to you. Always good to try before you buy :-) Jason, the server extraordinaire of the day was such a friendly & nice spirited young man. Great customer service & manners, he was very personable. OMG, he was very generous in his samples, description of the items that I could consume & seemly humbly proud of his island cuisine spread. I ordered the Vegan BBQ Chicken… the marinade & spices was perfect! As with cooking with substitutes one has to master the proper balance to avoid over cooking & coming out bland… not here! The stew of sauce was sooooooo delicious, I’m in post digestion mode as I type. I’m a cabbage fanatic & their dish had all the right seasonings, curry touch & added veggies. It was sautéed to palate perfection. I added a little of the a’jus to enhance it just a tad bit… just being greedy on my end LOL. Of course, you can NOT partake in the savory island cuisine without Plantains! These morsels were sliced & cooked so delicately that they literally melted in my mouth. Some are chewy due to being over cooked, but child please, these might be the best I’ve tasted in a very long time… turn up! Plus, we all need our a Potassium intake each day :-) My tastebuds were ablaze with this local vibrant cuisine of the Caribbean. & to know their Food Truck is on the assembly line, I best not get a Jay Walking fine trying to chase them down! What a great quick, fresh & plentiful portions foodie experience… especially when you’re not in cooking mode & craving good island food. Thanks Jason for a great dining experience… even with sitting on the patio fighting the pigeons off my Caribbean delight!

Food — very good After effect — not good Service — Terrible I tried their food at DC’s Green Festival. The mac’n cheese made from artichoke pasta was really, really good! The cabbage was ok and the tofu chicken with peppers was pretty good. Unfortunately, I started feeling sick within about 20 minutes. I had a ginger ale when I got home and was ok but based on this, and the negative service, I would not patronize them again. The men working behind the counter were terribly inattentive and rude. Although there were 4 or 5 men standing in the small space none seemed interested in serving me, I had to ask for service and then the server was in such a rush to get the food on the plate I did not have time to ask for a to-go box. Ironically, the money collector then gave me a hard time and chastised me for asking him for an empty to-go box(«wasting HISSTUFF», he mumbled) and told me it was my responsibility to have asked the server for a to-go box.(I needed and used the to-go box so he would have been more logically upset about the wasting of a paper plate.) Customer service is important and they failed miserably.

What a lovely find! I arrived to Union Station hungry from a 5 hour bus ride from NYC, and come to find there’s a vegan food stand somewhere in the terminal! I found a couple reviews online but no mention of where exactly to find the stand within Union Station. The stand didn’t appear in any of the terminal maps and nobody at information knew where it was. I finally got frustrated and left the terminal. Well what do you know, the stand was just outside the exit I used! Apparently there’s a group of food and merchandise stands outside. FYI — The stand is just outside the exit near Barnes and Noble! It’s a food stand but they sell vegan, health, and rastafarian items like drinks, soaps, vitamins, and more. I came just before the stand was closing so the lovely, friendly Trinidadian guy who runs the stand(don’t assume he’s Jamaican!) told me they«only» have vegan mac and cheese and curried unchicken. The curried chicken was good, but nothing I haven’t tasted before. The mac and cheese, however, was incredible. It was very rich and had a thick coating of creamy, tasty cheese. All for only $ 5. Deal! I will definitely be back. I looked at the larger menu and there were some really interesting items using ingredients you don’t typically find at Rasta places, like kale and tempeh.

This food vendor is 100% vegan. Damn the food is great here, make you what ta snack your… you know what I mean. I had today the Mock BBQ Steak, Curried Potatoes & Channa and Collard Greens. They give you soo much food. Year after year they are always at the same place outside next to Chipotle, steps away from the Union Station Metro. They also have a catering company in Maryland.
