Wanted a good grilled cheese and tomato soup. Stoney’s delivered. I ended up getting a «fancier» grilled cheese, the Rocket Cheese, with arugula and cherry tomatoes. It was fantastic and I’d recommend it anyone. The soup was equally amazing. Service was ok but the food made up for it.

I think I’m going to start a Thursday winter ritual of going here specifically for a grilled cheese and soup. It’s the little things in life. I was super hungry after work and it’s cold out and it occurred to me that I’ve lived in DC far too long to not have been to Stoney’s before when they are rumored to have the some of the best grilled cheese in the district. It’s a standard bar and has everything a standard bar should. Service was great. Staff were amicable and on point. I was in and out fairly quickly. They have a reasonable happy hour but prices are fine to begin with. The reviews on the grilled cheese are pretty on point too and man did their tomato soup/grilled cheese combo hit the spot. I love that they have several kinds so I opted for the multigrain with swiss, arugula and cherry tomatoes. YUM!

Stoney’s is a dive-ish sports bar on P Street. At any given time there are all kinds of sports fans gathered around to watch games, as well as people who are there for some beers and food. By far my favorite things at Stoney’s are their mac and cheese and cornbread. The grilled cheese is also pretty great. Another great feature of Stoney’s is the option to get takeout. If I’m ever craving some late night comfort food, but I don’t feel like cooking, the mac and cheese really hits the spot! I’ll also note that every employee I’ve interacted with at Stoney’s is friendly and helpful!

The laid back atmosphere and good beer selection here is a rarity for DC. They also have a great happy hour menu that I will be coming back for!

Our holiday party at Stoney’s was perfect! JK is an awesome host and bartender! Couldn’t ask for anything more but more of the delicious chicken wings! Finger lickin’, I tell ya! We are a small organization that had a specific budget we needed to stay within, so we didn’t have money to waste on a $ 3500 minimum that some of these other crazy expensive restaurants were demanding. Stoney’s is the only place that offered a much lower minimum and it was so appreciated! A month before our event JK sent us the menu and told us to pick our items. I have to admit, Stoney’s has the best bar food around. Chicken wings, quesadilla, sandwich platters, slider platters, dips, pizza, and the best grilled cheese sandwiches were just a few things we ordered! The food just kept coming during our party and so did the drinks! JK even played music the music we liked and told us we could bring our own playlist! We were able to reserve the entire top floor for our shindig, which gave us plenty of room to spread out and really enjoy ourselves! I mean, seriously, it was great! If you looking for a laid back atmosphere where people can just be themselves, chow down, get tipsy, and party, Stoney’s is the place! Just contact JK(John Kelly) and he’ll make it happen! PS…best chicken wings in the business! No lie!

MY go-to neighborhood Logan Circle bar, this place has quickly become my Sunday afternoon spot. Not to mention they are a Denver Broncos bar which is an automatic boo-yah in my book! This bar is a great place to catch football games and grab a quick bite to eat. They offer daily food and drink specials and have a fairly decent amount of tables upstairs and down. My friends and I usually opt to split beer pitchers between ourselves. Food here is actually pretty good. They are known for their grilled cheese — make sure you eat this! The other big bonus to this bar is they do Trivia on Tuesday nights. Extremely fun yet still low key enough that you can enjoy yourself. Service is great, and if you are unhappy with something they are more than accommodating. Crowd also seems to be pretty decent for other football games — making it a great sports bar whether you live around the corner or are just stopping in. There aren’t too many of these around this area.

Terrible bar, with all the great options in this area; I don’t recommend. The service was horrible, the beers expensive! Go elsewhere

This places sucks. Get a manager! We received less than half of what we ordered. You guys are leaving hundreds of dollars and loosing customer like me every second. What a disappointment you will never see me here again until something major changes. The service is the worst i have ever ENDURED! You don’t even deserve 1 star!!!

The first time we went to Stoney’s, it was on a fairly busy Sunday afternoon. The server was super nice but not very knowledgable about the menu. I always like to ask what’s good because servers tend to steer you in the right direction. This place has mainly bar type food and sandwiches. We ordered the spinach dip and I got the Thunderbird and my husband got a burger. The spinach dip was average at best. My husband said his burger was decent. And my sandwich was outstanding… turkey, gouda and bacon deliciousness surrounded by sourdough love. I’d highly recommend getting that sandwich. In fact, we have gone back twice now just so I can get that sandwich. And their fries are decent too. If you are in the area and are craving a really great sandwich, go there and get the Thunderbird!

I can’t tell if Stoney’s has gotten worse or my standards have changed. The food ranges from OK to bad. The interior is dirty and gross. On a recent visit, we saw a dead cockroach on the floor and alerted our server; it was still there when we left an hour later. Maybe it’s still there now. There are 7 million bars in the city, so many of them better than this one. Do not go to Stoney’s.

Giving two stars for purpose of the food. To me, a bad food experience can be salvaged when the server exceeds expectations. The food was exceptional. Three different guests at our take agreed that the food was perfect and on spot. The server though was lacking especially in personality. I had to ask for my water to be refilled many times. When our food was brought out, we received one crab cake sandwich when the person actually ordered crab cake appetizer. When questioned the order, the server proceeded to tell what he ‘heard’ versus correcting the order based on what was expected. As well, we had to request silverware after the food was delivered. To further fuel the intensity, he was more concerned of cleaning tables in the back rather the following up to ensure that we were satisfied and progressing. Food? EXCELLENT Staff? NEEDSHELP

Stoney’s was one of those places I have wanted to visit since I began going into Studio Theater. I have to pass Stoney’s heading from the garage to the theater. It has always been crowded in the evening or I have had my daughter with me and not sure if I should have taken her in. Well I can say, I finally got to eat there! Sunday afternoon before a play it was not mobbed! We actually went as a family(kids are almost 17 and 11). My children love pub food and we were not disappointed. My husband got the fish and chips. My son got mac and cheese, daughter had a bacon burger and I had the Freddy Grilled Cheese with a cup of tomato basil soup. We were all very happy with the quality of food and the portions were generous. My husband got a SoCo and Cranberry(his go to when he cannot decide what to drink) and I have no idea exactly what the waiter had the bar tender make but it was excellent! It tasted almost like a clear Long Island with a hint of peach. This is NOT really a children’s restaurant but with what my kids like for food and the fact they have been taken to many pubs for pub grub(and they know how to behave at restaurants) I would definitely go back next time I am in for a play!

Pretty standard bar, but I really enjoyed the trivia. By enjoyed, I mean got CRUSHED. But they have some interesting twists introducing some strategy to the game, the topics were relevant and interesting, and the pace moved pretty quickly. Nothing’s worse than sitting around bored between trivia rounds. But what gave it a 4th star for me was the availability of some decent beers as well as an extensive bar menu! Any bar food you could ever want– yours, and in copious quantities.

Awesome neighborhood bar. Great happy hour deals! I went there during March Madness and they had some ridiculous wing special, I can’t remember what it was but it was a steal. I’ve heard others say that Stoney’s has good food«for a bar.» But I think this undercuts how great the food actually is. Stoney’s has good food, period. It’s a friendly atmosphere and definitely a place for Logan Circle locals. Recommend if you’re looking for a place to catch a quick beer, snack, or just hang.

Stoney’s seems to be in a popular location, there were a lot of people out and about that evening. There was ample seating and lots of TVs. However, only one TV was dedicated to the NBA finals. That seemed rather odd. There is a second floor to Stoney’s, but it wasn’t open this night… and no one seemed to be able to tell us why. We had a group of 8 and had to leave to watch the finals elsewhere. I did try some food here. The menu boasts a list of items they are famous for, and none of those were recommended to me when I asked for input from our waitress. Another oddity if you ask me. If you’re looking for a bar to just hang with friend, then Stoney’s might work. I wouldn’t go thinking you’d be able to find what yoy need on the TVs.

Stoney’s Bar and Grill is a nice and chill place to watch sports at. They have indoor seating(tables, booths, and counters) and outdoor seating(with umbrellas for shade). — Super Grilled Cheese($ 9.99): their famous grilled cheese sandwich served with tomato, bacon, and onions. It was a really good combo, but the cheese was not melted at all. What a fail whale! :( — Tomato soup: chunkier than normal. We didn’t finish this cause it was just meh. Happy hour is every weekday from 5pm-7pm. They have different deals every day, but there’s always $ 3 drafts, 20 wing platters for $ 15, and grilled cheese for $ 5! Don’t expect fast service here. Menus came out slow, waters came out slow, took our orders slow, food came out slow, refills were non-existent, and the bill even took forever.(Usually when restaurants have slow service, at least they’re quick with trying to take my money!)

Friday Happy Hour(5−7pm) at Stoney’s is pretty great… $ 3 draft beers, $ 3 rail cocktails, half off appetizers & $ 5 for grilled cheese and fries! There was also a March Madness special of $ 3 for other beers. Check Stoney’s out online as they run different Happy Hour deals daily. The space left a little to be desired since it is on the smaller end but it fit our group fine in the end. Special shoutout to the manager & server George who helped our group out when we had an unwanted guest!!! They handled the situation quickly with little fuss, and our group greatly appreciated their efforts. :)

On Saturday night at midnight when not many places are open, we were hungry for food and was suggested by another bar bouncer to come to this bar for food. Ambience: For a first timer, this place seem to be like a local dive bar where people can just socially drink and eat. For a Saturday night, there weren’t that many people around, which made me second guess their food. The music is not too high so you aren’t screaming at each other when chatting. We went to the upstairs bar area, where they also have a sofa/table area to sit and eat. There are a few TVs so you are able to still catch the live sports games. Service: nice bartender and had quick service for the beers/foods. Food: I tried the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. The sandwich was very good and I loved it even more because of their buttery thick bread! The soup was also very good, which was more on the liquid soup type, instead of a thick creamy type. The burgers seems delicious as my friends ate them pretty quickly and raved about how great it was. If I am in town again, I’ll definitely be coming back for some of their grilled cheese sandwiches!

I’ve been to Stoney’s a few times since my review, and basically, it’s still the same old place. However, I’ve noticed that it hasn’t been as busy lately as I remember. The last time I was here, a big group of colleagues came for happy hour, and we had the upstairs basically to ourselves. That’s not really a good sign. However, $ 3 Bud Lights on draft is really not a bad happy hour. Appetizers were half off, but they were all greasy barfood, nothing for people who wanted to stay away from carbs. Overall, Stoney’s is the same old place. I only go here when I am meeting someone else and they suggest Stoney’s or a big group decided on this place. It’s cheap, I’ll give them that.
