I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and got a TON of food — lots of noodles! The chicken was cooked just right and had delicious flavor. The carrots and broccoli could have been chooped a little smaller to make it easier to eat, but everything was delicious! I have enough left over for another meal, so hopefully it’ll heat up well! The woman who operates the truck was delightful! She was very friendly and happy to talk to her customers. I would definitely recommend this to all who eat from the food trucks! I’ll be going back for more next time they’re close.

Food truck offering delicious and generous Thai and Laos dishes. My friend and I spontaneously choose Sang on Wheels when meeting for a quick lunch. I had the drunken noodles with tofu, which was also full of vegetables and delightfully spicy. My friend had the tofu pad thai, also full of broccoli and bean sprouts. Both portions were more than enough for us, so we ended up with leftovers. We also both received complimentary giant drinks — Thai iced tea for me and the Thai iced coffee for her — which provided more than enough sugar and caffeine for the rest of the day. The service was quick — even by food truck standards — but also friendly and patient with those of us who struggle with menu decisions. Overall, a great option for a quick lunch or meal on-the-go!

Pretty good stuff. I got the drunken noodles with chicken. The serving was massive. I also got 2 egg rolls on the side, and she gave me a free Thai iced tea! It was a pleasant surprise because I LOVE Thai iced teas but couldn’t bring myself to pay $ 4 for it. I’ve had better teas before but it was free and they were very generous. The veggies could have been cooked a little longer but food truck meals are never perfect. I paid $ 11 and this will be enough for dinner later tonight. I’d return for sure.

I figured I’d try this food truck out after seeing the high ratings, so I went today when it was outside L’Enfant Plaza… Could not have been more disappointed! I got drunken noodles, which had a pretty bland taste, the veggies were still very hard and didn’t taste like they were cooked at all, and the chicken was added as skewered chicken and was incredibly dry. I think they give enormous portion sizes to make up for the lack of taste. The egg rolls weren’t bad, and they did throw in a free Thai ice tea, which is why I gave them two stars instead of one. I’d never go back.

this food truck will make you keeps coming back for more . for $ 13, I got 4 different containers. a big box of container filled up to the brim with drunken noodle, chicken in skewer, a giant meatball. the other medium container, she filled it up with young green julienne papaya salad with crushed peanuts.(it’s not the authentic Laotian Tam Mak Hoong, but who cares it was good) another container filled up with mango and sticky rice dessert and she also gave me a big glass of Thai ice coffee. what a lady! she just keep giving you more food. a perfect wife material.

The food was great, cheap, and Sang was SUPER sweet. Offered my friend and I free Thai iced teas along with our drunken noodles. They were sweet and refreshing on a hot summer day. The portion is also definitely big enough for lunch and dinner but hungry me ate it all. If you like spicy food, you might want to add some hot stuff to your noodles. Can’t wait to come back!

Amazing service! I was given free summer rolls just for being there! I had drunken noodles with tofu and it was delicious, with big pieces of fragrant thai basil and nice crunchy veggies! And fresh pressed sugar cane juice! so good. Will definitely make a point of eating here again!

I ordered the wrong thing… The pad thai is BORING. Only noodles and sprouts. Meh. I got some chicken on there too. Overall, should NOT be called pad thai. As everyone else has stated, the woman is very nice, but I will not be ordering this again.

Hands down the best food truck service. The woman who runs it is just a ball of energy and cheer. I don’t think I even ordered — she just handed me soup and food and a thai iced tea. For $ 11 – 13 combos you get way more than other food trucks at comparable prices. And the food itself is delicious too, nice spicing as a base and with an array of sauces you can use to kick it up a few notches. Weekly stopping place now if she makes her way regularly to my food truck row. You should do the same :)

My coworkers have been recommending this food truck and I finally had chance to try. Phở quality is okay but the service of their business goes beyond. Excellent customer service. She gave me free egg roles and some sample of drunken noodle. I hope they come back to 16& K area more often!

Sang on Wheels offers plentiful servings of Thai favorites. I was expecting more heat from a truck run by a Laotian person, but the flavors are still good, though not as fiery as traditional Thai. My vegetarian drunken noodles included a generous heaping of chewy wide rice noodles, broccoli(could be cut a little smaller), julienned(used loosely) carrots, and fried tofu. Sang’s version wasn’t spicy, but it was well-seasoned otherwise. I appreciated that it wasn’t overly salty, as many drunken noodle renditions can be. The noodles also weren’t clumpy and perfectly al dente, another point for that. An appeal to the owner: give this dish some heat and make the broccoli more bite-size, and it’ll be even better! At nine bucks, the vegetarian drunken noodles is an average-priced item from a DC food truck. Adding a protein like shrimp will of course bring your price up a little more. Nothing outrageous, typical. Though not extraordinary, Sang on Wheels, from what I have tried so far, provides tasty and fresh to-go meals. Besides assorted stir fries, they also offer a soup of the day. Today’s special was phở, which is apparently also quite popular in Laos.

After reading everyone elses reviews, I guess I am not alone. I thought the food was actually pretty good. The phở was the soup and yummy. I also had the chicken drunken rice. It was a huge portion and overall pretty darn good. I liked the noodles better than the chicken so next time I will probably try the meatballs which I think will go better. But I must say the service is incredible. It is just an experience going there and I will definitely go back. So great to see someone so excited, happy and energetic about life. I thought it was a nice pick me up and break from a long day at the office.

Great food. I would easily give this four or five for the food alone but Sang brings this to a definite five. Highly recommended.

Normally I would give food of this quality 2 – 2.5 stars, but this place deserves the boost because the lady who runs the truck is incredibly affable and enjoys giving free items to her customers, especially later in the afternoon. I ordered chicken sate over half drunken noodles and half fried rice. Not only was the portion humongous, but the lady offered me complimentary egg rolls as well as Thai iced tea. And my meal only costs $ 9! But, the food does have issues. The chicken is relatively insipid and particularly dry. A nice sauce or more noticeable rub would surely enhance its flavor. The fried rice felt dried-out and relatively flavorless as well. The drunken noodles was definitely better than the rice, although it was very one note and its vegetables were hard to enjoy because they were large and tough to chew. Overall, a food truck that offers okay food with great value.

In reality I give Sang on Wheels 3.5 stars, but the woman cooking(Sang?) brings it up to 4. I got the drunken noodles with chicken and Lao ice tea. They added two spring rolls just because, which was a good start. Meal came out fast, and I know she added extra chicken. There were a few too many mushrooms for my taste, but I loved the carrots and broccoli. The broccoli had this sweet element that was delicious. The noodles were better than average, cooked and on the soft side of firm and firm side of mushy. There were quite a few stuck together, but that happens when you cook noodles en masse. The portion was tremendous. If the 2 guys in my area were in they would have gotten a free lunch. I are less than half, and I feel like a pig. The Lao ice was really nice, it had a condensed milk flavor to it, which is something I love from Vietnamese iced coffee. The spring rolls were decent. I’m not a big fan of fried, but they were stuffed to the gills with so starch. I would eat at this truck again. Although food wise, I wish the noodles had more of a kick.

The good: the value. For $ 9, I will be able to eat two meals. The bad: I love drunken noodle. Like, love so much that even when I can barely feel my tongue anymore due to the spice, I still can’t get enough. This dish was a mere shadow of that. First, drunken noodle is supposed to be spicy. There was ZERO spiciniess and not even a sad bottle of sriracha she put out upon request could save it. The tofu was cold and had not been properly heated up before mixing with the noodles. Also, there were big chunks of basil stem all over my dish that she just through in with the rest of the basil. It was just sloppy, and it didn’t taste that good. I was expecting more, Sang. Sorry, I won’t be back.

Upping my review to three stars. I hadn’t re-tried this truck in nearly a year, and with two of my co-workers visiting nearly every week and raving, I wondered what I missed on my first visit and decided to try it again today. I decided not to order the dish I didn’t like last time(pad thai) and went for the drunken noodles instead with the meat balls. The drunken noodles were prepared well — had a bit of a kick(not super spicy), not too overdone and packed with vegetables(carrots and broccoli) as well as chicken and tofu. Instead of the chicken skewers, I went for the meat balls. They were very large and well-prepared, although could have used some more seasoning. I have to admit, though, I felt a little strange eating meatballs with thai food… just a quirk of mine, I guess. My dish was $ 9, which wasn’t bad for how much food you got(I should have cut my dish in half, it could have easily been two lunches). I didn’t get an egg roll with my order this time so i can’t comment on that. Overall…this visit definitely improved my opinion of this truck. Still haven’t gotten out of the three-star category — definitely a solid«A-OK» in my book… but I won’t avoid this truck if I see it at State Department like I used to.

Sang is my new must-visit foodtruck! I had become a big fan of hers through Unilocal reviews and word of mouth, but all I could do was to watch her pop up in other neighborhoods via her Twitter feed, and even then her occasional appearances were as unpredictable as a groundhog, due to her splitting her time between running her food truck and cutting hair(see reviews for SangInWoodleyPark). Now she spends most of the week serving food(I heard you can also order food from her salon!), but due to the new DC Food Truck lottery system, it’s become difficult for her to find a decent downtown parking space so she’s been branching into other neighborhoods, incluidng ours — their loss, our gain! For nine bucks, you get a styrofoam box crammed to the brim with fried rice or Asian noodles(conventional Pad Thai or Lao Drunken Noodles, which use the same wide rice noodles in Thai Pad See Ew or Chinese Chow Fun), topped by a couple of grilled chicken sate skewers, lamb or beef meatballs, or a mountain of tofu(for you vegetarians). For a few bucks more, you can add a spring roll, egg roll, Asian empenada, a cup of soup, or whatever else she decided to make that day. And a few bucks more will get you a quart-sized container of Lemon Tea, Thai Iced Tea, Bubble Tea, or whatever else she decided to make that day. If you’re a regular, she might slip a lagniappe or two into your bag!(And unlike other food trucks, she doesn’t try to collect the annoying DC bag tax from you). Food portions are huge(especially if you add one or two of her sides) and Sang always welcomes you with a smile, no matter how bad the weather outside may be. Five stars for food quality, five stars for food quantity, and five stars for exceptional customer service!

Customer Service is a big deal to me — especially when it comes to food trucks. In the case of Sang on Wheels, few come close to how amicable they are. This was my second visit in three years only because, until the DC Food Truck Lottery(love it or hate it), they did not visit near my work very often. I didn’t recall from my first visit anything extraordinary about their service, but that was not long after they started… I think their first week. Anyway now, Sang on Wheels seems to go out of their way to leave a positive impression with each and every customer. In my case, not only did I get what I ordered, she doubled the amount of noodles that would typically come with the meal and added extra chicken too. This was no exception as my coworker got the same and we were each given free egg rolls too. I also ordered the Asian Empanada which is apparently a new offering. Overall, the chicken and noodles I would give a 3 or 3.5…but the volume of food for the money bumps it to a solid 4. The egg rolls and empanadas? 5.0 hands down. The impact of the DC Food Truck Lottery has largely been negative for the consumer in the Foggy Bottom area as variety is sorely lacking compared to before. But this is one exception where they brought an elusive truck back to my backyard. Check them out… but make sure that you are hungry!
