Got the salad option with falafel and all the sides which piled up to a big mound of food which was totally a bargain for the price. Try asking for more scoops of your favorite sides and they will load your plate up. While on my stay in DC roti definitely had the most flavorful plant based dishes of the places I tried. I will definitely be returning to roti when I’m in DC.

Another one of DC’s growing number of Middle Eastern/Mediterannean-inspired fast-casual places, Roti is probably the least expensive of them all — though the food quality is also probably the least consistent. You get the option of a rice plate, pita wrap or salad. Each dish comes with a protein, a sauce, and your choice of three sides. I usually get rice plates here, though I’ve also experimented with the wraps. Regarding meats, I’ve had both the chicken roti(dark meat lightly seasoned and grilled) and the chicken kabob(all-white meat, seasoned kabob-style). not too impressed with the roti version. It doesn’t have that much flavor, and sometimes it’s dry/chewy, depending on how long it’s been sitting there. The chicken kabob has more flavor, and it’s also more consistently moist(ironic, since it’s all-white meat). The salmon option is kind of a ripoff; it’s basically the size of a hotdog, and it just doesn’t taste like much of anything, yet you have to pay extra for it. The selection of sides is nice, but be warned that they’re all cold, even though some of them are the kind of side you’d normally see served warm. The hummus here is silky-smooth and tasty, and the feta cheese is both fluffy and flavorful. Each of those counts as a side. For my third side, I get the steamed fresh-vegetable medley(usually a mixture of carrots, bell peppers, broccoli and onions), which is served cold. These vegetables go well with the hummus and feta. The rice(which is kind of like a rice pilaf), isn’t bad, but its quality is inconsistent; it can vary between fluffy and moist, and dry and chewy. The red-pepper aioli is my favorite of the sauces; it’s sweet yet tangy, and it’s got just a hint of heat to it. My favorite thing about this place, however, is the freshly baked pita-pocket bread that is served for free with every rice plate. It’s baked on-site, and it’s got a nice, warm, light and soft texture, perfect for stuffing. At other places, the pita are similar to the ones you’d find in grocery stores — pre-made, sold in bags of a dozen, with a slightly stale and spongy texture. Roti gets big kudos for their pita bread. K Street doesn’t stand out in any particular way from the other Roti locations I’ve been to; this one fits the trends I’ve laid out here. If you’re looking for a healthy, quick bite of Mediterranean food, this is usually a good option if you play your cards right.

this place is always good! salads, pitas, and rice plates are sooooo good. The lines go pretty quick — the guys behind the counter have a great system pulling you through line. the Chicken Roti is my favorite with the spicy sauce! Great place for lunch!

Great spot! Got a rice bowl with chicken and beef shawarma, that are accompanied with 3 sides of your choice, and one pita bread. The pita bread is probably one of the best breads I have ever had; being of Middle East descent, we typically have rice and bread with most of out meals, so I’m well aware of what really good bread is like, and this place simply tops it off. The manager at this location(Ryan) has customer service DOWN; I commend him for his hospitable approach in greeting customers and taking care of them, ensuring that they ALWAYS come back. I as I waited for my food, he offered me something to drink while I wait(no one does that nowadays) very much appreciated it. Then, I had a slight problem with my card, and he simply did not even allow me to call my bank, he immediately said lunch was in him today. This gesture will not only allow me to always come back, but now i know what kind of establishment this place is. Thanks Ryan!

A coworker recommended Roti. I got the chicken roti salad. I couldn’t stop eating thru all the wonderful toppings; caponata is my fav! Also, the serving is hearty, so I had the leftovers for dinner. Winner all around. Can’t wait to go back.

Good, quick and convenient lunch option for those that work in this area. I typically get the rice plate with chicken and three sides. Food is always fresh. Can get crowded.

Quick service, good options. Similar to a Subway where you can build your own pita, salad or rice plate. They have a few pre designed options. I got the sultan sandwich, which is chicken, hummus, tomatoes, cucumber, red cabbage slaw and spicy sauce. Very flavorful and deliciously warm pita. The employees were not very helpful with suggestions or option. Overall worth giving a try. Decent fast food option

Store was clean, quick service, easier ordering, and food was really pretty good for fast food take-out. I would go back.

3.5 stars I like Roti — great concept, the food is very good quality and the service is very friendly. My only complaint is that staff are not consistent with portion sizes. They have scoops for meat and some of the other items, but the cabbage and the onlon can be a little ridiculous. And some of the staff charge me extra for onlions and other times they don’t. Today I got charged and then they literally put 5 pieces of onion in my laffa wrap.10 cents for each thread of onion.

Terrible service. Lost my catering order for an important event then promised a half hour delivery. After waiting for two hours, we did not receive our order. We had ordered 3 weeks prior and it was lost in the system. Customer service was absolutely lame and not helpful. Please be aware of this for future orders.

Wish we had a Roti chain in California! The menu is simple and has a similar theme to Chipotle’s «choose your own ingredients» options. Being a sometimes indecisive person, I can appreciate the fact that my options were narrowed down to a few solid protein and sides. Fewer decisions make my life easier! :) Step 1: Choose sandwich, rice plate, or salad base Step 2: Choose a protein(chicken, steak, salmon, falafel) Step 3: Add sauces, sides, and toppings! Then you build your unique plate by pointing at the options behind the plexi-glass counter– so fun!(I’m easily amused) I went with the rice place with chicken roti topped with the dill and cucumber yogurt sauce which was cool and not too overpowering. I also had sides of their cucumber and tomato salad and cous-cous; the salad was refreshing and the cous-cous has a subtle curry flavor. For $ 8, it’s not a bad deal for lunch and definitely satisfying if you want something quick and different than your typical turkey sandwich.

This place is kinda like a Mediterranean Chipotle, in the sense that you order as you go(customizable order). I got the Chicken Kebab Roti Plate with the Dill Yogurt dip for $ 7.95(around $ 9 with tax). Honestly, I wouldn’t come back. Sure it’s okay for lunch, but I’ve had MUCH better Mediterranean food than here. The only thing worth mentioning that I like is the rice and chicken, but I typically prefer Lamb Gyro when I’m eating Mediterranean. Would I come back? Meh… maybe if I didn’t feel like going elsewhere for Mediterranean.

I remain a fan of the Roti that once was, so I give this mediocre review of the«new» Roti with sorrow in my heart. Years ago, Roti served a heaping portion of chicken with delicious yellow rice and generous sides. Today, the yellow rice has been replaced with a «healthier» but dry and flavorless brown rice. The chicken recipe appears to have changed as well, coming much smaller and less flavorful with spices than it was before. The sides were similarly disappointing in their portions during my visit. Perhaps it’s unfair to blame this particular store for corporate-wide penny-pinching and decision-making, but as others have commented, Roti no longer seems like the good value it once was. Perhaps if the company rediscovers its roots, I’ll become a regular customer again someday.

I’ve only recently discovered Roti, so I have more menu spelunking to conduct before finalizing my views. But so far, I’m a fan. I’m often intimidated by «fast casual» places because they have long lines, idiosyncratic ordering procedures, and workers who assume you know the drill. So, it took me a while to build up the courage to wade into the crowded waters of Chop’t next door. Once I conquered Chop’t, I tackled Roti. It’s a little confusing when you walk in(triggering incipient fast-casual panic symptoms), because you’re facing a blank half-wall and it’s not immediately clear if you should go left or right. As Yogi Berra said, when you get to a fork in the road, take it. I went left, which was correct. Like other fast-casual places, there’s a formula for ordering. Pick your format(rice plate, salad, etc.), pick your protein, pick your sides, pay, get the hell out. They’re quite efficient — this place gets you in and out very quickly. It helps that, unlike Chop’t or Chipotle, there’s little assembly to be done. It’s mostly spooning things out. I was very impressed with the falafel — lightly crispy and still hot. The S’hug sauce is billed as very spicy, but I don’t think a true hot fiend will find it so. It’s moderately(and appropriately) hot. The sides are what makes a Roti lunch different from its competitors. There aren’t too many quick lunch options where you can get such a variety of foods on a single plate. Bonus: They generally all taste good mushed together in whatever combinations you choose to slide on to your fork. Anyway, thumbs-up from me.

I’m middle eastern and love this place! I usually get a plate… the rice is great, I get half roti chicken half falafel, and then usually the eggplant, vegetables, and something else(hummus for the pita bread that comes with?) Great price and friendly service. Nice for lunch or a casual dinner.

I use to be a huge fan of Roti, eating here probably once a week for a quick lunch. My go to was always a rice platter with hummus, Jerusalem salad and baba ganoush. Once they stopped having baba ganoosh I moved to the eggplant thing. I like the spicy sauce as well and their bread is solid if you eat it while it is warm. Everything they served was fairly solid and it was a nice option to keep in my lunch rotation. I even had a frequent buyer card on my keychain and then one day I went in to use it and they told me uh… we are only doing the app now. Useless to me since I don’t have a smart phone. I stopped going however, when the prices started to creep up, and up, and up. It stopped being such a great deal and I’ve moved on and found options around that I prefer better. The lunch market is fickle and it is a meal that I’m price sensitive for because I tend to eat at my favorite places often. Right now Roti just doesn’t seem to offer me good value.

You Unilocalers were not kidding about the line moving quickly… when I arrived the line was literally out the door but I was only in line for maybe 4 minutes tops until I received my food. Good job Roti for being so efficient! It was my first time here so I appreciated the instructions on ‘how to’ order on the walls. I ordered the chicken kebab with rice, hummus, tomato/cucumber salad, & feta cheese with a side of fluffy pita bread. For $ 9 I feel the portion was small — I was still a little hungry after I devoured the entire platter which is very unlike me because I am queen of taking to go boxes for my leftovers… I didn’t care for the hummus and the rice tasted old — it was dry and clumpy. Aside from these setbacks, I enjoyed all of the flavors! Especially the spicy red pepper sauce. I would come back to give this place another try but will probably stick to a salad to avoid the old rice.

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have more stars! I can’t believe I’ve worked in the area for so long and am just now discovering Roti. It doesn’t help that the lines are usually out the door during lunchtime, which is basically a deal-killer for me. We went on Columbus Day, and were able to walk right up to the counter. At first I was a bit overwhelmed by the options, and I wanted to try everything. I settled on a laffa wrap with steak, dill, yoghurt and cucumber sauce, tahini, s’hug(spicy) sauces, with cabbage, sumac onions, and feta. ITWASAMAZING. I honestly didn’t want the wrap to end. The flavors were bold but all went together so well, and the meat was cooked perfectly for the wrap. The beau had the ‘Best Plate Ever’, and thoroughly enjoyed each bite. I can’t wait to go back, and may just have to suffer through the long lines. It’s like a Mediterranean Chipotle, which is awesome.

Imagine someone applied the Chipolte model to Mediterranean fare, and then carefully constructed a menu that was guaranteed not to disturb the palate of the most finicky of heat haters. Anything that might be considered spicy is banned from the factory where this food is assembled and the restaurants. Employees must go through a 3 stage decon process just in case they were exposed to a pepper or horseradish or other tongue and sinus tingling substance. This food is BlanD with a capital B and D. It isn’t bad, it isn’t good, it isn’t anything. Here is what this particular Roti is for: You’re on K Street after 7. Most things are closed because the lobbyists went home to play with their Congress Critter Collection® hours ago. You’re hungry and you want something fast that contains protein. That’s when you need this Roti.
