Rock The Reformer® by Potomac Pilates of the Palisades

I just started doing Pilates and this place is great. Everyone is friendly and the instructors are nice even when they are correcting your form. I can already feel tighter and toner.

This is a fairly large studio for a group class, and the one I just attended was full. Someone came late and brought their young child (around 3.5 or 4 years old). She crawled around my reformer and even completely under it at one point. The instructor asked her a few times to sit back on the couch, but she was too young to really listen. She either made noise like singing or playing something loud on her mom’s phone or moved around during the whole class. The mother did absolutely nothing to control her child and just seemed focused on the class from her vantage point on the other side of the room (though I asked to switch with her!). I have young kids (one older and two younger than this little girl) and can’t imagine bringing any of them to sit through a class. Shame on the mom for thinking this was ok and shame on the studio for not asking them to leave. Kids and pilates class should not mix unless it is known to all participants in advance or the child is truly able to be quiet and unobtrusive for an hour. The studio might point out others were not bothered, but I was closest to the waiting area and she kept coming over to my reformer.

I tried my first Pilates class on Monday and I loved it! I usually do yoga and I’m not sure why people compare the two because they are so different. The instructor was Leeor And she was fantastic. She has a fun, upbeat and energetic approach. She’s encouraging but not abrasive. The class I tried was a happy hour class so it was only $ 20. Classes are usually $ 40 I think. The studio was clean and bright with plenty of room so it didn’t feel cramped. I highly recommend this studio and definitely try a class with Leeor, she’s awesome.
