Hmmmmmm. I am confused. Smelled strange upon entering; service was almost nonexistant; no longer possess a liquor license; bathroom was«sorry, out of order»(???); tables, windowsills, floors werent clean enough for a restaurant; but worst of all, phở wasn’t very good! Both orders were bland and came out wrong. Crêpe also came out wrong but was at least slightly worth eating. And yet with all the blunders mentioned above, there seems to be some strange cult following. With all the phở/vietnamese options in the schitty(even Columbia Heights specifically), I can’t see any reason to come back here.

I’ll give this a one star. The food is typically good but the service could be better. I applied for a part-time job there, both locations, in DC. I was required to submit a photo of myself and never received a reply. They since change their job description to remove what is illegal to require on terms of employment, and it now states that you need to fit in with their culture. I already do fit in. It’s not me whose racist. It’s the owner who is. I haven’t patronized since, and I never will again.

I meant to write a review about this place a month ago. Good friends, whose restaurant acumen I trust, brought me here for one thing: the brisket in beef broth noodle soup. It was delicious: perfectly seasoned and cooked, with a perfect balance of noodles, vegetables, herbs and broth. And the reasonable cost sold me completely. Wow. Excellent service, too. This will be a regular spot for me!

I just had a phenomenal bowl of phở from here. The beef broth with brisket, fat steak, carrots, and mushrooms. These combined with some sriracha and sauce, and it turned into the perfect meal for a rainy night. I also had an egg roll, which was good, but nothing to write home about. I’ll be back for sure

A great phở place in Adams Morgan! Phở 14 offers an easy way for you to choose your phở bowl by listing in numerical order the steps to take! First you choose your bowl size, large or regular, then the broth flavor, and then finally toppings. They offer a lot of topping choices such as flank, carrots, tofu, brisket, trite, meatballs, and more! You can also choose between chicken, beef, or vegetarian broth. Came here with a friend and we both tried the beef broth with brisket and meatballs. It was delicious! You can smell the herbs in the broth which was very light and tasty. It wasn’t like some other broths where it can taste fatty and oily. I completely recommend coming here to introduce to your friends their first phở experience! The service here was great, fast, and friendly. The ambiance is very chill and relaxed. The only downside were the prices. If it was a little bit cheaper, Phở 14 would get 5 stars! You can definitely get cheaper spring rolls or a bowl of phở elsewhere instead of what was listed on the menu. Overall, if you’re in the area, I would suggest coming here to warm up with a delicious bowl of phở!

Very good Phở. First time that I have gone and choices of broth and additions as part of the choice. The soft spring rolls were excellent. I would recommend this phở place. All the stuff was different.

Stopped in here really quick while waiting for an appt. down the street. So, all I needed was something to fulfill my hunger pangs right before lunch. So, I came in and the waitress was really friendly. I let her know that I just wanted goi cuon and didn’t have time to stay. She took my order pretty quickly and I headed to the restroom. The first bathroom straight ahead was so dark, I could not find the light switch. I went to the bathroom on the left and found that one. The goi cuon was really fresh and hit the spot. I’ll be back soon to try their phở. I do like their décor as it reminds me somewhat of the Philippines.

Banh mi review… eh. especially for $ 7. It was filled with meat, pâté, and homemade mayo nicely however there was only 1 type of meat(the head cheese), no cha(i.e. ham). I would also put all my money on the banh mi bread being at least 1 day old. I was probably the first banh mi customer of the morning. I mean, bread is SOOOCHEAP!!! Just throw out the bread fro the day before and have new fresh bread every morning! If you’re going to charge me $ 7, and I’m willing to pay for it, just got the extra 2 cents and have the banh mi authentic with fresh bread! Please!

Love this place! Cute décor, plenty of seating, and great service. I ordered the beef phở and it was delicious. However, instead of raw beef they put grilled beef. I’m taking one star off my review because that’s just not how phở is supposed to be. Maybe it’s a health regulation?

I have made Phở 14 my official supply place and I eat here at least three times a week. Build your own phở is my favorite and you can try so many combination of toppings. The Spring roll and Vietnam coffee is also nice. The only down side is if you order take out it might take a while, so I always call in advance to order take out.

Although dependable, I find phở 14 to be mediocre phở. Nothing special and a bit pricey for what it is. I do really like their banh mi sandwiches when I want to mix it up from my usual phở order so if you’re in the mood for something different I recommend it!

I really like both of the phở 14’s. The soup is great at both locations. But the people are sooo nice at the Columbia road location.

I have to update the ranking of this place, it is now my go-to phở spot and I’ve already been here three times, I barely ever eat at the same place in the same month. SO glad Phở is just down my street, it really is a requirement wherever I move to now! I got the Phở Ga this time, with chicken broth. I was coming down with someone and wanted something light but tasty. Phở 14 lets you choose your broth, beef or chicken, which most phở places simply just give you one type, which is beef. So I went with chicken broth + chicken, and it was the best Phở Ga I have had in the area! I generally don’t use lime, because I feel it overpowers the phở broth, but I needed that citrus power to ward off sick germs, even taking the chances of sacrificing delicious phở broth flavor. Fortunately, the broth here is so flavorful and deep, that the lime did not overpower the broth, it merely complimented it. It was a heart soup that had me feeling great afterwards. I will probably become the Duke of Phở 14 eventually.

Avoid this place like the plague. I first tried it after a dentist appointment and ordered a banh mi sandwich with spring rolls to go. It came with small broth soup, and all tasted yummy going down, but later that evening, bad news for the tummy. I’m not sure what specifically it was, but definitely nothing that should be consumed. The second encounter with this location came by accident when I ordered delivery from what I thought was the one in Columbia heights ion park road(that location btw, is amazing). They indicated delivery in 60 minutes, but after 1.5 hours, I called and the park rd location told me my order was directed to the Adams Morgan location and to call them. Eventually, my order came 1 hour and 45 min after ordering, and again, it tasted delicious going down, but within 30 minutes, I had the worst msg headache of my life, and nothing could help to get rid of it. I eventually went to bed and still woke up with an msg hangover. This place takes shortcuts in their food prep that don’t seem obvious at first, but you’ll definitely pay the price for it later. Don’t do it.

I already gave this 5 stars for my in-restaurant dining experience. But I ordered delivery a few nights ago and it didn’t disappoint! There was a delivery fee($ 2.95), but it was well worth it. My food came within the 60 minute window I was promised, it was piping hot, and we got a box of noodles, bag of toppings, and a to go container of broth. I got the 13, and the eye of round comes raw in a bag. At first I was a little thrown off, but it cooks immediately once it’s dropped in the broth so it was fresh and delicious. I will probably never order phở from anywhere else in the city b/c this was just so good. For the price, quick service, and delicious flavor, it’s unbeatable!

A nice bowl of Phở during a chilly March Sunday sounds great right? I shuddered at the thought of going back to Phở 14, but alas rain, cold and wind prompted us to try it again. Finally it’s mediocre. The spring rolls were an improvement from last year, though the pork looked like something my cat would enjoy, ie stale and pitiful looking. Fortunately they tasted fine with the peanut sauce. The Phở hit the spot, though they’ve added black pepper into the soup already. And I tried #52(crispy egg noodles with shrimp, calamari and scallops — above average dish that had a nice sweet brown sauce. The service was much better than last time — so kudos! Overall if you don’t like black pepper in your Phở, make sure you tell them about it ahead of time. Otherwise Phở 14 has improved to being an average Vietnamese option, if you’re in the neighborhood.
