Papa John’s Pizza

I only live a few blocks away on 14^th, but multiple delivery persons have been incompetent to the point of not being able to find my building, each time incurring 2+ hour waits (Yes, I’ve ensured the address is correct and called multiple times). Other places have never had an issue. We’ve received the wrong order multiples times, and as other have mentioned, if you don’t write your tip amount extremely clearly, they will change it and up the charges on your card. This place isn’t with the hassle.

I just want to start off saying I am about 5 months pregnant. Food is super important at this point considering I’m suffering from a rare form of morning sickness that I will just call HG. Star is my absolute favorite person working at this location. She always gets my order right and gives me excellent customer service. When I ask her for well done wings she cooks them accordingly. Some of the other workers should be taught her tactics for well done wings. Haha. I’m so happy as I write this review eating my order. And baby is too! Thanks Star!

Make sure you sign your receipts and zero out the tip area if you carry out. I used my credit card to pay for carryout, they ‘had a problem with the printer’ and didn’t give me a receipt. I find out on my bank statement that they added themselves a nice $ 10 tip on a $ 25 purchase. Shady workers here…

I am giving this a 1 star bc of the horrible delivery person I had to deal with. Extremely rude and yelled at me that I was making her wait when I answered her buzzing at my bldg front door. When she did come up she just handed me the pizza and didn’t say anything and left. I have only ordered from dominos since and they have had great delivery persons each time.

This place takes entirely too long to deliver my pizza it always takes 1 – 3 YES there was once a 3 HOUR wait period!!! To deliver my pizza. And it was a school night ordered my pizza around 7:50 didn’t receive it until a while after 11 there is never a time my pizza is fresh it is always cold and most of the time I get two orders of pizza and there will only be 1 garlic sauce. If I pay 17 $ plus for a pizza the least you can do is give me a garlic sauce per order. Pizza Hut cost less and so does Dominos and frankly they’re better with costumer service as well. Papa Johns You have some working to do!!!

WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN ALL MY YEARS OF ORDERING PIZZA. I placed my order at 8:21PM and at 9:30PM received a phone call saying they were out of the soda I had ordered. I picked a second option and then they hung up the phone without saying thank you or goodbye. Then at 10PM I hear the driver knocking on the wrong door and by the time I go out to look he had already gave up and left. I call the store and they said the driver is on the way and then hangs up the phone. 15 minutes goes by and I try calling the store again and now the phone goes right to Verizon voicemail? I call the customer service line and the lady helped me reach the store and she said that the manager is going to have the driver contact me. The driver contacts me ands says he is going to be outside my door in 30 seconds. A few minutes goes by and he pulls up out front (by this time it is 10:22PM which is 2 hours after ordering) and he sits and revs his engine expecting me to come out into the street to get it? At this point I have decided I no longer want the pizza and I had already began ordering from Dominos. This is the LAST time I order PAPA JOHNS! RATCHET and BOOTLEG!

Had pizza from this location for years, never any major problems, until my fiancée and I got pretty serious food poisoning from their pizza just the other day. I called to complain once I stopped vomiting and found out that we were not the only ones to get sick from eating their pizza on that particular day. Nothing more to say.

I don’t know what the people below are talking about — I’ve ordered from here on about 5 different occasions, different hours, different days of week — and always had good service and good pizza. Never received anything cold — always still steaming hot.
For a papa John’s, this is a pretty good one. Try it.

The pizza is good and they always have well-​priced specials. Plenty of options in terms of toppings, crust, sauce, and cheese. Delivery is also within a reasonable amount of time. However, every third order, they mess up the drinks — give you the wrong drinks or forget it altogether.

One word: Ratchet.

awful. if you want cold, incorrect pizza delivered by an idiot who can’t find a door knob order from this location. I waited over an hour and a half for a cheese pie when I ordered Hawaiian. ZERO TIP.

We did a plan ahead order for a couple pizzas from this location. The pizzas were 30 mins late, they forgot the soda and the phone number for this location kept going to Verizon voicemail so we were unable to call anyone to figure out what was going on.

It is sick that someone whose favorite place in Columbia Heights is Room 11 to also give 5 stars to the least health and least classy restaurant in the neighborhood, but I can’t help it! My middle aged roomie got my wheels spinning about this Papa John’s after he brought home the family football special for himself several weekends in a row this fall. YES, he did eat the wings, large pizza, breadsticks and a two-​liter to himself. But this review isn’t about his eating or health habits, it is about Papa’s. Papa delivers two blocks to my house or is open for pick up with limited hours. They have allowed me to pick up right when they were closing and are always so friendly. Thanks to them, I’ve been able to maintain my high BMI. Sadly since my bootcamp kick, they haven’t been getting so much business from me. When I’m ready for a dietary splurge, I will stop over there for sure!

Fast delivery, even during some not so good weather conditions. Delicious Alfredo pizza, and an awesome rewards program! Kudos, you guys and ladies at this PJ’s Pizza shop!

This review could have been 5 stars. Unfortunately I found 2 pieces of italian sausage on two different slices hiding under roma tomatoes and in olives on my garden fresh pizza. I took away a star for each sausage. Thank god my bf isn’t a vegetarian or else 2 slices would have been wasted. Aside from that, the delivery time was quick and the pizza was great! There’s never enough sauce (in my opinion) so I ordered extra sauce and it was perfect.

We were looking to have a nice pizza that evening, and called Papa Johns. We received an email saying our order would arrive in 30 – 40 minutes. After an hour, I called and the manager was very rude to me. She told me she called the driver and he would be there in five minutes. After more time passed, I called again and they said it was normal to have an hour and a half wait. The third time I called the manager hung up on me, so I called back to cancel my order, went down the block to Angelico’s pizza in Mt. Pleasant and in ten minutes had my pizza. After finishing my pizza, Papa Johns called to say they were at the door and ready to deliver my pizza, at which I told them I had cancelled my order. That was ridiculous. Terrible service, rude managers. NEVER AGAIN. I would recommend Angelico’s in Mt. Pleasant.

The food quality has been good here every time I have ordered and the delivery is amazingly quick.

When it comes to franchised food joints, I tend to give my local pizza shops three tries before I discern an opinion. Well, having stationed myself on the couch with a veritable food coma after eating my third slice of hot, fresh, and punctual Papa John’s pizza, I can confidently say that this place is solid. Papa John’s is by far my favorite among the chains, and this particular location’s delivery service is surprisingly quick.
Now, I’ve only ever ordered during the week, so no accounting for the weekend or sporting event rush. But, every time I’ve ordered from this location my pizza has been fresh, hot, and without fault. They’ve never gotten my order wrong, even down to drink and side red pepper flake packets. The delivery guys — there are a few — have always been kind, never rushed or rude. (Tip them well, they deserve it.)
The :only: things I find negative are that they put too much sauce on the pizza and the toppings tend to slide right off and onto the floor, their crust is a little chewy.
I always order online, and the pizza always shows up about 30 – 35 minutes after I get a confirmation. Overall, for a pizza place, four stars. Definitely my go-​to place when I don’t have a reason to move for the rest of the evening.
