13.95 for Mac and cheese and spicy shrimp. No shrimp, or as the cook said 4 small shrimps cut up smaller then Mac pieces and no spice!!! Cook is in charge of cost and allows cost to control taste and quality! He needs to feed people not bs them! And out of beers and captain Morgan again!

It pains me — literally pains me — to give a bad review to an Irish pub(because the world needs more!), but my experience at Molly Malone’s was awful. We arrived at about 4:30pm on a Sunday, hoping to watch one of the afternoon football games. The upstairs portion was closed off for a private event and the downstairs portion was pretty crowded, but no more than you’d expect on an NFL Sunday. After five minutes of waiting at the host stand without an employee in sight, we decided to just grab a vacating booth. From there my mom grabbed is menus while I flagged down a bartender and asked if he could be so kind as to put the game we wanted to watch on one of the five TVs hanging over the bar(there were only five games being played, IIRC, so it didn’t seem like it would be an issue. anyway, he quickly obliged and everything seemed like it would be great. 10 mins later, we still hadn’t seen a server. Like, not one. I went back up to the bartender and he assured me they had them, so I waited… and waited. The serve finally came and though she didn’t apologize for her unexplained absence, she seemed nice enough. We ordered a round of beers and a cocktail. She promptly came back with the cocktail, said the lite beers were on the way, but broke me heart when she told me they were out of Guinness. An Irish bar out of Guinness? Hmm, okay, how about that Pumpkin beer you have on the specials board. And some Irish nachos to start with, because we’ve already been here 15 minutes who knows how long it will take to get our food. She comes back five minutes later, finally bringing the lite beers. They’re out of pumpkin beer, too. Why did it it take you ten minutes to get two pints of lite beer? Why are you out of everything else? Most importantly, why does it take me ordering it and you disappearing for a fortnight to find out? Fine, I’ll take a lite beer. Anything! She comes five minutes later to take our food order. Still no beer. She assures me she hasn’t forgotten about it though. We order our food with relatively few complications and she disappears. She walks by again a few minutes later, «Your beer is on its way!» From where?!? Finally, after — I crap you not — over 30 mins at this bar, I get my third choice in beers. Yay! I look up to watch my paltry football team, and see the channel has been changed. Two of the five TVs are now showing the same game. I find the bartender and ask him what happened. He points at another bartender and shrugs. I go to her and politely explain we came in just to watch the game and ask her if she can change it back: «No, but I think its on upstairs!» «The same upstairs with the private party?» I ask. «Yeah, but they won’t mind.» Somehow I doubt that. At any rate, my 92 year-old grandma who’s eating out with us doesn’t handle stairs that well. I tell her that, and she caves in and a few minutes later changes the TV at the far corner of the bar back to our game. Unfortunately, that means changing booths to see the TV, but a small price to pay. Needless to say, the mayhem continued. The food came out at different times, one particularly egregious offender being a bowl of chili that came literally about 45 mins after everything else. Every subsequent beer took about 10 mins to get — was she buying them from next door? They occasionally brought other people’s food to our table saying stuff like, «Don’t suppose you ordered this?» At one point they dropped off an order of chips and dip without a word. Wasn’t ours. They later removed it, and God I hope they didn’t drop it off at another table. We asked them to split the bill in half, they inexplicably put 80 on one card and 60 on the other. It was just a comedy of errors, to be honest, but no one was laughing. it’s possible, even likely, that they were over encumbered with patrons and understaffed when we first got there. But toward the end of our 4:30 game the place had all but cleared out, and service was still inexplicably and inexcusably bad. I will not be back.

It’s a bar and most of the food options are fried or greasy. I tasted the spinach dip, spicy shrimp macaroni and cheese and buffalo chicken wrap. Most everything tasted frozen(not fresh). I couldn’t finish my whole meal and ended up sick later that night. I would not recommend this place or give it a second try.

Great fun as always. Good beer selection and Happy Hour. Today was especially fun thanks to nice and cute bartender, Mackenzie. Thanks!

Came in for a drink and some fries. Good enough! They didn’t have my first choice beer so that was bleh but they did have Abita purple haze on tap which I love. Service was fine.

Molly Malone’s is that super comfortable, well designed, no frills type of bar you have looking to become a regular at. It is that place that can become your«go-to» when looking for a comfortable warm place to have an average meal, a nice beer and friendly service. I am happy to have Molly Malone’s on 8th street, as many of the other bars are expensive, overpacked and don’t offer your typical buffalo wings or a chicken sandwich. They have many large tables which also makes it a great place to come with a large group.

Great location, ample seating and good service… It’s a nice place for big groups. Now can we work on food? The food options were ok but I guess when you have plenty of surrounding food options that are awesome, it kinda puts your food options there more or less below the curve.

Met a friend here to watch some DC United and college football. They sure do not have a shortage of TVs. We were chilling in the upstairs bar and the bartender was nice enough to change the channel for us as we were some of the only ones up there. I was impressed by their beer selection, it was about 3 – 4 pages! Didn’t try the food, but from what I saw of the people next to us, looked and smelled pretty good.

Very rude and inattentive service. Bloody Mary and mimosa over priced for quality. Don’t waist your time here for a weekend brunch. Better choices available nearby.

Some days, I can be a simple man. Today I felt like being simple. I just wanted some chicken tenders and French fries. Simple enough, right? The chicken tenders were $ 8.95, and the fries were an additional $ 4. I guess that’s on the higher end of what I typically expect to pay for lunch, but whatever, I was here, it was my first time stopping in, and besides, it’s pretty hard to mess up chicken tenders… right? 5 minutes after placing my order, 5 large chicken tenders came out with a mound of fries. I thought to myself…“self, this looks alright, dig in.“ After dipping my first tender into the honey mustard and biting into the tender, I realized the chicken tender did not want to be eaten. It was dry(even after dredging it in sauce), tough and unappetizing. I am on a limited time table during my lunch hour so I didn’t want to have to complain about the food, wait on something else and not like that either, so I played tug of war with the remainder of the tenders until my jaw bone eventually gave out. In this battle between man vs. chicken tender, the chicken tender inevitable won. I think it is safe to say that will be my first and last time dining at Molly Malone’s.

We came to Molly Malone’s on a Friday evening for the Marine parade. The location is great in that it is located just across the street from the barracks. My review is for bar service for drinks. Being a Guinness fan I was hoping they poured a proper pint and boy was I satisfied. The bar is long but narrow and during busy times I can imagine this makes traffic with servers difficult. The old pub style is relaxing and encourages second and third rounds of drinks. We were taken care of adequately by our bartender as we enjoyed the company of new friends anxiously awaiting our reservations at the Commandants house. We did not order any food but if we returned I would be sure to try out some of the local favorites. Great spot to try if you are in the area, thanks!

Hm. I had been wanting to check this place out for a while. A friend of a friend recommended this place a while back but I suppose not for brunch. This was our one of two options on 8th street that didn’t have a long wait for Sunday brunch. My friends and I woke up late to go to unlimited brunch, so this is how we ended up here. I was stoked that it was an Irish restaurant and I ordered bangers and mash. Super disappointed. My food was late because the order didn’t come in and I got my food five minutes later. I’m not quite sure if the beans were supposed to be cold, but it was. It also tasted as if it was from a can. Needless to say, I won’t be back for brunch. The service wasn’t bad even though there were only two servers maybe when I was there. I might come back to check it out for lunch or dinner, but we’ll see.

Came here to pre-grame before a Nats game. Nothing too special about this place. It is beautiful on the inside. Tried the pretzel with cheese which was pretty legit. The bartenders were nice and knowledgeable about the local brews. I understand this place is near a military barracks so at the time, it was frequented with a group of military guys. I could tell by their haircuts and constantly story yelling(note: story yelling, not telling as it was quite loud). My beer jumped from my glass from the constant banging of fists on the bar top. So there is that to contend with as well on a weeknight at 7pm.

A nationals game was rain delayed so decided to hit this place up while waiting for the game to start. It’s an Irish bar but I didn’t get a real Irish feel from it. Always find it funny that these places seem to have these Irish names but not much else about it is Irish. The good thing was the beer was excellent. They had DC brau IPA on draft. A local DC brew on draft. It had the kick of a normal IPA but without the harsh bark taste of other IPAs. It was a great treat. We also ordered pretzels with cheese. The cheese sauce was delicious. It was full of flavor yet it wasn’t too thick. It was great for dipping. The pretzel was decent but the cheese sauce stole the show. Other than that, nothing spectacular about the place. It was good for a bite to eat and a decent brew on tap.

I am sitting at Molly Malones, 8th St. The management here appears to have an inconsistent policy where certain customers are asked for credit cards to hold a tab when they sit outside — even when no alcohol is served. It appears that this policy largely applies to customers of color. Several other customers reported the same. Good shepherds pie, but I won’t be back. They should be careful; this type of policy can cause serious zoning, political and social issues in a city like DC.

The service can be hit-and-miss. Took us repeated requests just to ask for the check, including going up to the bar to ask. Servers are nice and can be attentive, but that’s when you have their attention. While I find the food ‘a-ok’ as a 3-star is described for Unilocal,I wish they had more options for non-alcoholic drinkers. Last time I was there, they were out of Pepsi, they don’t have root beer, and when I ordered the ginger ale, the server ended up doing a hit-and-run water refill. I appreciate the gregariousness, but that was missing when it was time for the check, and I couldn’t pin down the server to tell him about said-water in the ginger ale because he flew off. It’s a-ok. I’ll come back if friend’s select the joint, but otherwise, I’d personally choose another place.

Saturday and Sunday during brunch hours in Eastern Market can be hellish. It seems as if EVERYTHING has a minimum 1 – 2 hr wait. I was in the mood for chicken and waffles and forced the better half to wake up and take me somewhere to get them. Since we live so close to 8th street, we know what the crowds are like at most of the businesses and to be frank, we weren’t having it… Neither one of us were up for the crowds or the waiting. If you dare to venture just a little further down the street, you’ll pass what looks like a generic pub. We held our breath going inside expecting a noisy packed bar… but were delightfully greeted with the exact opposite. It’s a BIG pub style bar, somewhat dark on the inside with T. v’s everywhere. There were about 10 people tops on a Saturday around 1 pm. We seated ourselves at the empty bar where a friendly bartender handed us menus and took drink orders. It was perfect because they had all different types of beer for the other half, and mimosa’s for me. AND… Chicken and waffles of course. The waffles were yummy, chicken could use a little more seasoning and they didn’t really have any dipping sauces, but it is a Pub and not a Denny’s. lol Overall, wonderful experience, would definitely go back.

Molly Malone’s is a staple of Barracks Row. They have a fantastic beer selection, super friendly staff, and lots of big TVs. The food is your typical bar food, but I don’t come here for the food. I come here for the atmosphere, beer, and TVs.

Weekday lunch, two 65+, two 30 something’s and an eight month old. One of several pubby restaurants owned by same group in the? Capitol Hill area of DC. If you went here not knowing, you’d think it was wonderful. Pub fare menus is similar at all locations. We had burgers with excellent fries and Shepherds Pie. Extensive beer list. Effecient, friendly staff. We were all happy with our lunches, the food, the ambiance, the service. Price total for four including tax and larger-than-usual tip was 95.00.(Child knocked over a beer… which seemed to bother us but the staff didn’t seem to care. I’ve been here in the evening when it’s packed and it’s simply a great bar. At 1:00PM we were almost the only ones here. Keep that in mind when bringing children it’s a fine«Irish» family restaurant. Some with different sensibilities might bring children elsewhere. Great photo of the golf carts used to transport guests to the NATS games!
